Keeping it Simple

This week I am keeping it simple. Ha! I’m always trying to do that and yet, life is so busy and there is little in the realm of simplicity about it! At any rate, my personal experience has not led me to a lot of simplicity!

As soon as I sent the manuscript to the publisher for my upcoming book, I began the next one. I’m excited and when the time is right I’ll let you know the topic. I think it is going to be interesting for many of you.

Tomorrow I am going to a very remote coastal camp way up in the far reaches of Washington County, Maine, quite close to the Canadian Border. I will only be away for the weekend, but since I generally write the blog on Saturday and have no electricity, much less internet access, I need to get it written without Saturday’s time frame.

Given that it is Libra Season and our thoughts turn to who will keep us warm this winter, I’m going to leave you with a quote. This was written in 1903, so please take the word ‘marriage’ and understand that it can mean all kinds of other functional relationships.

With that information, you can watch where the transiting planets are moving in your own birth chart. For instance, if I’m talking about the Moon being in Leo on a particular day, find the house that holds Leo in your chart. Understand that is the area of your life where you will feel the playful emotional energy of the Leo Moon. Contemplate these things deeply. Following the daily posts you will find a list of the houses and some of their main significations. 

When there is a transiting aspect occurring between two planets on a particular day, look at your chart. Learn to see where it happens in your own chart. Perhaps you have that same aspect in your natal chart!

The week starts with the Moon in the stable, grounded sign of Taurus. Taurus loves sensual experiences and the pleasures of the flesh. Whether it be a lovely meal, a beautiful sunset, a sensual massage, or a painting that delights the soul, Taurs loves it all. Taurus feels great reverence for these experiences.

Look to the house in your chart that holds Taurus and think about how this applies to you. If you have Taurus in the 4th house, it is important that your home be a place of beauty and pleasure. If you have Taurus in your 7th house you are attracted to a partner who is beautiful or makes you feel beautiful and brings an element of luxury to your life.

It seems that the start of this week has been all about Mercury. This suggests a great focus on communications and our thinking. On Monday, Mercury opposed dreamy Neptune, yesterday Mercury formed a flowing trine aspect to Pluto, the planet of empowerment. Today Mercury leaves behind the analytical sign of Virgo and enters Libra (8:08 PM EDT). Due to Mercucry’s recent retrograde, it has been in Virgo for much longer than it would generally be in one sign (since July 28th). Now, it is finally ready to stop analyzing everything and trying to get things just so. It is ready to move on and find a different viewpoint. In Libra, Mercury goes into cooperation mode, our thoughts turn to diplomatic ways to solve problems. We are thinking more of others and including others in our ideas, our thinking processes, and, planning. Mercury is now moving rapidly and will leave out the back door before the month ends.

To Fiercely Protect Love

Perhaps your mind will calm down a bit today as you look around and see there are folks around you who need care, love, and nurturing. Perhaps you notice those needs in yourself today. With the Moon entering Cancer at 8:32 AM EDT, your attention will be drawn into tender emotional spaces. That does not mean you will only want to cuddle puppies all day. You won’t necessarily NOT want to cuddle puppies, but Cancer is quite often mistakenly thought of to be all cuddles and nurturing.

When we think about keywords for Cancer we may think of nurturing, emotional, intuitive, protective, empathetic, moody, sentimental, and family-oriented. It is easy to overlook one word here that is crucial in understanding Cancer. That word is PROTECTIVE. Considering that all of these words point to love, think about the energy it takes to protect love or to protect those you love, particularly those you love in a parental nurturing manner. This will help you understand the fierce side of Cancer. Think of a mother bear, loving and nurturing her young. Think about what she will do to protect those young. Never mistake Cancer for being weak. Cancer is a cardinal sign, and as such, is one of the strongest.

Therefore, go ahead and cuddle those puppies today, and keep your heart open to what you are willing to do to protect those you love.

The Lunar Cycle – Last Quarter Moon in Cancer

At 9: 48 AM EDT, with the Moon still in the cardinal water sign of Cancer she reaches the last quarter phase of her cycle. Make sure you have your natal chart with you to allow for a deep consideration. The last quarter Moon always suggests a time of release. What metaphorical seed did you plant at the Virgo New Moon on September 14th? Look at the house in your chart that holds Virgo, the seed would in some manner relate to that area of your life. As the cycle progressed, the Moon reached her first quarter square on September 22nd (Sagittarius), this was a time to take action to ensure the growth of the seed planted. Now at the last quarter Moon it is time to release the cycle knowing that the work has been done and it is time to let go and allow the process to break down in order to fertilize the next cycle that begins at the Libra New Moon on October 14th.

It is Saturday morning and the Moon is still in Cancer. Take your time getting out of bed, and create a warm, slow, comfort-filled day. Spend time with your closest family members (biological or otherwise). Cook breakfast for those around you, waffles, or something special to make everyone feel loved. Your heart will expand and swell enough to hold all the love in the universe. Where is Cancer in your chart? Bring out old family photos and encourage a connection with those that have gone before you. Our ancestors may hold more keys to our very existence than we understand. Allow sensitivity and empathy to move you.

At 7:25 PM EDT, the Moon tires of so much closeness and is ready to shake it off and exchange it for fun and dramatic playfulness. It is Saturday night, perhaps there is a party you could attend, or simply find a reason to dress up a bit and go somewhere to see others and be seen.

Trigger Warning – Power Struggles Ahead

Sunday, ah Sunday. This is a significant day with large ramifications. The Moon continues its path through the fixed fire sign of playful Leo. Her position is largely overridden today by other powerful forces. However, don’t let her go into over-dramatization mode.

The extremely challenging square aspect formed between Mars (in Libra) and Pluto (Capricorn) builds throughout the day culminating at 9:04 PM EDT. In terms of larger cycles, this is a time of releasing something that began in March 2022. There is no gentle release with Mars and Pluto. In terms of politics and cultural issues, there is writing on the wall. In terms of your personal life look at the houses that hold Libra and Capricorn and consider what power struggles may be playing out between these two areas of your life. Don’t respond with anger, don’t try to push the issue underground either. Talk, listen, and do your best, There is a letting go process occurring, don’t assume you know what it is, but do be curious and kind to yourself and others.

At 9:10 PM EDT Venus finally leaves Leo and enters the mutable earth sign of Virgo. Over the coming days, your over-heated values around love and money will cool off a bit as you see the necessity of getting more practical and organized regarding these issues.
