Summer Arrives this Week

A Mystery Shelter

Balancing work and fun is challenging with the deadline for my book looming. However, solely focusing on work without finding pleasure is never a wise approach. Last weekend, Dave and I stumbled upon a lovely beach on Sears Island, beckoning us to explore. We spent the day creating artwork with blue and white shells on the rocks and relishing the sun’s warmth and radiance.

To our delight, we discovered a robust shelter crafted from driftwood nestled on the beach. As we sat inside, observing a sailboat gliding in the distance, a profound sense of contentment enveloped me. It fills my heart with joy to witness my life taking root in this coastal paradise.

As we approach the Summer Solstice, marking the true beginning of the summer season, have you made any plans? Are you prepared to seize the upcoming weeks and months, ensuring you make the most of them?

Self-care & Awareness

Monday, June 19, 2023

The Moon starts the week in Cancer. The Crab is a perfect symbol of Cancer. Walking with its back to the world, it becomes feisty if flipped over and its belly exposed. When the Moon is in this watery sign, your emotions may be tender. Especially on this Monday morning, keep your tea or coffee mug filled and eat a good breakfast. If you find yourself triggered by others, do like the crab would and skitter sideways to find a sunnier spot in the sand.

At 11:52 AM EDT, optimistic, expansive Jupiter makes a sextile to Saturn, the authoritarian of the Zodiac. Sextiles are supportive aspects between planets. The energy of these two planets come together, offering an opportunity that must be acted on to initiate. Together the enthusiasm of Jupiter and the seriousness of Saturn, bring a sense of confidence. You know you have what it takes to bring your beliefs and goals into alignment. What new directions are being presented or offered to help you bring your beliefs into reality?

Compassion & Confidence

Tuesday, June 20, 2023

The Moon remains in Cancer for most of the day. If you are moody or sensitive, look inward to find the root of these feelings. Treat yourself and everyone you meet with compassion. Remember that others are experiencing the tenderness of this Cancer Moon as well.

At 5:43 PM EDT, the Moon opposes Pluto, bringing potential triggers or challenges to your feelings or sense of security. Pluto may be a tiny planet but never underestimate its transformational power. We all have unfinished business to manage and heal within our emotions. Once you have faced the issue at hand you can move forward. Stay calm and collected as you work through the issue with steady rationality.

At 6:03 PM EDT, the mood lifts as the Moon moves into the warm, generous sign of Leo. This evening we long to express ourselves and be seen clearly. Leo is ruled by the Sun and when the Moon is in this sign, we shine with enthusiasm and optimism. All else being equal the Leo Moon simply feels good. We are more able than usual to exude courage, and confidence, and have a good time.

Summer Solstice – Sun enters Cancer – Summer Begins

Wednesday, June 21, 2023

Today’s Leo Moon brings bold creativity, a larger-than-life feeling, and a bit of glamour and sparkle to an already exciting day. Leo is a perfect sign for the Moon to be in, here on the first official day of summer!

At 10:57 AM EDT, the Sun enters Cancer, signaling the Summer Solstice. In the long dark days of Winter, we dream of this day! Here in the Northern Hemisphere, today offers us the longest period of sunlight. The Sun appears at its highest point in the sky and its rays strike the Earth at the most direct angle. The Sun will remain in Cancer until July 22nd.

Fun fact: When the sun is at its highest point in the sky (solar noon) your shadow will be the shortest at any time of the year.

For those who live in the Southern Hemisphere, this is the Winter Solstice. This shortest day of your year marks the arrival of winter. Don’t fret though—you’ll celebrate summer in December, of course.

Thus Cancer Season has begun! As the Sun passes through Cancer your attention turns to family and home. Emotional connections come into focus as you look for safety, love, and nurturing. Open your heart to protective and loving kindred spirits. This is a powerful time to get clear about what you need to feel secure, nurtured, safe, and cared for.

At 11:22 AM EDT, Mercury (Gemini) forms a sextile to Mars (Leo). This air-meets-fire aspect opens a door for you in the realm of communication. Is there something that you need to address? This sextile offers an opportunity for you to articulate your position in a new way. Be bold in addressing the topic at hand. Do not shy away from what needs to be discussed. Brainpower and concentration are strong, and you will be able to make good progress if you are mindful in speaking and listening.

Drama with an Edge

Thursday, June 22, 2023

Today’s Leo Moon brings drama, creativity, glamor, and fun into focus. We want to express our personalities with open generosity and playfulness. This suggests that your inner fun-loving child wants to come out to play.

There are some complications or traps that you could easily fall into today. At 8:42 AM EDT, the Moon forms a conjunction to Mars. If anger or frustration crops up, do your best to let them pass by without encouraging them! Go for a run or use your body in another way that will release tension.

Later in the afternoon, the Moon forms a challenging square aspect to Uranus. Keep your eyes and ears open to new information that may help you understand how you or others are managing the challenging times we live in. Do your best to focus on the positive, and don’t waste anger. Find a way to use anger and frustration to make a difference for good in the world. On a very personal note, shower your friends and loved ones with warmth and generosity. Gifts for no reason will be appreciated and open the door to deeper connections. Shine brightly. Show love.

Getting Things Done

Friday, June 23, 2023

Early this morning, the Moon leaves Leo behind and enters analytical, service-minded Virgo (6:35 AM EDT). Virgo has a reputation for its meticulous attention to detail as well as an unmatched ability to organize the loose strands of daily life. Look for the motivation to catch up on household chores, paperwork, and other practical tasks.

You may encounter a roadblock when the Moon opposes Saturn at 9:07 AM EDT. This won’t last long. Make an effort to methodically assess the situation and determine your course of action. Don’t let distractions throw you off your groove for getting things done. If it happens to be a person who’s blocking your path, help them move along theirs, and return to your tasks.

Later this evening, the Moon forms a trine to Jupiter in Taurus. The positive flow of energy between these two well-grounded signs should support a good night’s rest. Of course, if you are making headway on your to-do list, you could find yourself happily working into the night. Just be sure to take care of your mind and body, too.

Putting the Pieces Back Together

A Simple Day of Practical Endeavors

Saturday, June 24, 2023

Today offers a sense of simplicity and introspection. The Moon gracefully moves through Virgo, unencumbered by any significant interactions with other planets. It’s as if she seeks solace in her own counsel, and we would be wise to do the same. Under the influence of the Virgo Moon, our inclinations lean towards organization and practical activities. Take the opportunity to create lists and solidify your plans in collaboration with others.

The Virgo Moon appreciates tidiness, propriety, practicality, and kindness. It encourages us to prioritize creating order, serving others, and solving problems. Direct your focus towards practical efforts that contribute to positive change. Virgo perceives the potential within everything and seeks to make the necessary changes to fulfill that potential.

During the Moon’s monthly journey through Virgo, our attention becomes fixated on improving things. We yearn to solve problems, assist others, and restore order amidst chaos. Finding gratification and personal satisfaction lies in attending to the finer details of all tasks. Channel your energy, exerting effort and diligence in your endeavors. Remember, your contributions truly make a difference.

From the Practical to the Pleasurable

Sunday, June 25, 2023

With the Moon in Virgo, your emotions are steady and practical. You are aware of the potential in all things and want to make whatever changes are necessary to reach that potential. Analyzing and refining your emotions will underlie everything else. The Moon makes a trine with Pluto today, providing stability and support for the changes and refinements you make.

As the day turns toward evening, Mercury makes a square to Neptune (6:35 PM EDT). You may find that your energy begins to wane and your attention wanders. Let your thoughts, ideas, and conversations gently flow into imagination and creativity. Feel your body move with music, wax poetic, or simply dream the evening away.

Pleasant vibes flow into the evening as the Moon enters Libra at 6:57 PM EDT. When the Moon is in the Cardinal Air sign, attention turns toward pleasing others, in order to find our own satisfaction. Libra pleases with a clear understanding of what others need. You can set aside your critical nature and focus on beauty, harmony and social connections. Ditch your electronics and devices tonight. Opt instead for candles, chocolates, and conversation with a friend, lover, or confidante.

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. The aspects under consideration are conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions. The planets I work with are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
