Martina’s land – early Spring in Vermont

Having spent a long weekend in Vermont last week, I was happy to return home. I had a wonderful time and managed to see many of my friends. Unfortunately, there was no time to see everyone I would have liked to. It was a whirlwind. If I didn’t have the cat to come home to I would have spent more time and seen more of those I miss. I really do need to find a reliable and available cat sitter. It is just one of the things that I have yet to put in place after nearly a year of living here on the coast.

Spring is firmly in residence and Summer in Vacationland (Maine) is fast approaching. It is fun to watch the preparations and bustle everywhere!

I want to send a shout-out of gratitude to my friend Amy who is now helping me manage the daily posts. Thank you, Amy! You are truly an explorer of truth and great depth.

Very close to home

Expand Your Horizons

Monday, May 8, 2023

The Moon spends the bulk of the day in Sagittarius. You can expect a rather lighthearted mood as you seek inspiration, growth, and adventure. With the Moon in this mutable Fire sign, you want to learn something new, travel, expand your horizons, and explore new vistas. You don’t want to be held back or restricted by responsibilities or expectations. This is a day when you will want to play hooky without having to explain your actions or choices.

When the Moon enters Capricorn at 7:33 PM EDT your focus will turn to organizing and making things happen. Capricorn is the Cardinal Earth sign and the most serious sign of the Zodiac. It is ruled by Saturn, the authoritative teacher. Over the next few days, you will pay more attention to the ambition needed to reach your goals.

Expect the Unexpected

Tuesday, May 9, 2023

Make plans for the future today. Determine and work toward making those plans a reality. Don’t scatter your efforts. The Moon in Capricorn all day supports working toward a specific, significant, long-term goal. It can be easy to lose sight of others while you are focused. Make a point of acknowledging the people who support your efforts. Affirming your loved ones will pay great benefits in the long run.

At 3:55 PM EDT, the Sun conjuncts Uranus at 18° Taurus. This transit can bring a strong urge to break free from your typical activities and routines. Uranus is the planet of unexpected change, upheaval, and unpredictability. The Sun in Taurus prefers to keep things slow and steady, creating conflict.

This conjunction signifies the beginning of a year-long cycle of waking you up to some area of your life where you need more freedom and autonomy. This will be most notable if you have personal planets or points between 17-19 degrees of any of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). Take note of the house that holds Taurus in your chart. This is the area that will be pushing for radical change and excitement. If you feel a great deal of anxiety, get out and create a new story in this area of your life. You may suddenly see things in a new, unexpected light that leaves your old perspectives in the dark.

Let Your Emotions Support Your Efforts

Wednesday, May 10, 2023

The Moon remains in Capricorn for the majority of the day. The prevailing mood is cautious, determined, and prudent. When it briefly opposes Mars in Cancer at 12:37 PM EDT, allow feelings of frustration or anger to come to the surface. These powerful feelings blend with practical considerations. Use these feelings to help you power through hard work and solitary ambitions.

At 10:05 PM EDT, the Moon moves into Aquarius. You may find your thoughts turn to restlessness at bedtime. The energy of Aquarius is zingy, enabling you to see and experience yourself and others with a new perspective and awareness. You may feel more confident, unrestrained, and ready to rebel. Immerse yourself in social gatherings, brainstorm unusual new ideas, and develop humanitarian goals.

It’s Human to be Humanitarian

Thursday, May 11, 2023

When the Moon is in the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius, we are better able to put some distance between ourselves and our sensitivities. Emotions are filtered through the intellect, expanding one’s mind, outlook, and perspective. Worldviews and humanitarian issues are ripe topics for discussion and consideration today. How can you contribute to creating a better world for all sentient life on planet Earth?

At 8:44 AM EDT, the Moon squares Mercury (still retrograde) in Taurus. This short-lived transit might feel like someone has thrown a wrench into the works, slowing down otherwise zingy communications. Notice this and let it go, it will pass quickly enough.

Opportunities Abound

Friday, May 12, 2023

The Moon continues through Aquarius all day, bringing with it cool, friendly energy. Pay attention to unexpected flashes of brilliance, unusual thoughts, and unique ideas. This is a great time to engage others in philosophical discussion and listen to what is shared. It is easy to get wrapped up in our own thinking and neglect to consider others’ thoughts and contributions. Keep your mind open to others today.

At 10:29 AM EDT, the Moon squares the Taurus Sun, bringing us to the Last Quarter phase of the Moon. At this time, two forces come into conflict. Their tension signals the need to release something in order for growth to continue. Remember that your understanding of yourself, and life itself, is constantly undergoing change. Your spirit embraces a new world in every moment.

At 4:41 AM EDT, retrograde Mercury forms a sextile aspect to Saturn. This is the second of 3 times that these two will meet/have met in recent weeks: April 5th, May 12th, and May 19th. Sextiles offer opportunities, and this match-up benefits clear thinking and practical judgment relating to study, research, work, and business dealings. Long-range plans are seen in a practical light and are likely to be approached with common sense. Serious conversations support the development of practical skills and understanding for the future.

At 10:43 PM EDT, retrograde Mercury in Taurus forms a sextile aspect to Venus in Cancer. This is the second of 3 times that these two will meet/have met in recent weeks: May 6th, May 12th, and June 17th. Today offers an opportunity to speak deeply and seriously about your values and love. If you have been looking for the right moment to ask for support, present an idea, or declare your love for someone, today is the day.

Emotional Watery Weekend

Saturday, May 13, 2023

Long before you start the day the Moon entered Pisces (12:38 AM EDT), bringing your emotions into deep, tender, and mystical waters. Pisces is a Mutable Water Sign suggesting sensitive but adaptable emotions. Gone is the intellectual and objective approach to emotion that we maintained over the past few days. With such a sweet and rather passive start to the day, pay attention to your imagination, dreams, and fantasies.

At 2:56 AM EDT, Venus in Cancer forms a lovely watery trine aspect to Saturn in Pisces. The Moon joins them at 11:12 AM EDT. This is a great transit that can help you better understand your obligations to others, and how important it is to take responsibility for them. You are able to be sensitive yet realistic. Making authentic connections with others will support the stability and duration of your relationships. A great prelude to Mother’s Day tomorrow.

Celebrate Mom with Feeling – Mercury Stations Direct

Sunday, May 14, 2023

The Moon continues through Pisces, allowing us another day of deep emotion, compassion, and vulnerability. This level of sensitivity may feel delightful to you, like drifting on gentle waves. On the other hand, you may feel overwhelmed, as you do your best to keep your head above water. Seek refuge in creative outlets such as music, art, or film, and let your feelings float freely. Be gentle and compassionate with yourself.

At 11:17 PM EDT, Mercury stations direct, after being retrograde since April 21st. This does not mean it is time to let go of all caution and blast forward. It will take a few days for Mercury to get up to speed. However, this is worth celebrating!

If you have struggled over the past 3 weeks feeling misunderstood, indecisive, or confused, relief is in sight. Heave a sigh of relief knowing the tide is turning and the fog will clear over the coming days. Are you ready to begin moving in unfamiliar directions and beginning new projects? How do you feel about what you have accomplished during this retrograde cycle?

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. The aspects under consideration are conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions. The planets I work with are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
