WORK ON MERCURY RETROGRADE TASKS

Monday, May 1, 2023

With the Moon in Virgo all day today, it is a great day to work on practical tasks and projects begging for completion. Review the lists and plans you’ve made, especially those prepared for this Mercury Retrograde period. Make the most of the clarity of the moment to get organized, or reorganized, so you can tie up loose ends. This will go far toward helping you feel more grounded and stable over the coming days.

At 1:08 PM EDT, Pluto stations to turn retrograde at 0° Aquarius. Pluto spends approximately half of each year retrograde. This shift will have a powerful impact if you have personal planets in the last degree of any Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) or 0° of any Fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). Any impact will relate to issues of power and control and will bring transformative long-term changes.

The inferior conjunction between Mercury and the Sun (both still in Taurus) occurs at 7:27 PM EDT. Occurring at the halfway point of the retrograde period, the inferior conjunction is a welcome bright spot. This is a powerful time of illumination. Pay attention to the direction of your thoughts and conversations. This is a window of time during the retrograde when you can explore new directions of mind and begin planning future projects.

Prior to the inferior conjunction, Mercury was following the Sun into the morning sky and setting in the evening after the Sun. Following today’s inferior conjunction, Mercury will rise before the Sun and set in the evening before the Sun. If you want to see Mercury in the sky in the coming months, get out of bed very early and watch the horizon before sunrise.

A DAY OF HARMONY AND BEAUTY

Tuesday, May 2, 2023

In the wee hours of the morning, the Moon moved from Virgo into Libra (2:09 AM EDT). With this shift, we find ourselves feeling less critical and more inclined to connect with others and social pleasantries. Our desires turn to creating harmony and beauty in our environments, and pleasure in our relationships.

Libra is the Cardinal Air sign ruled by Venus. One of Libra’s strengths is to help us see perspectives beyond our own. This is where we learn diplomatic skills to develop relationships that are balanced, fair, and equitable. In all our interactions, we are better able to understand the perspectives of others. We long to create a sense of balance between ourselves and those close to us, and seek intellectual, diplomatic solutions to relationship challenges, rather than practical earth-based solutions.

A BOUQUET OF PERSPECTIVES

Wednesday, May 3, 2023

The Moon continues through Libra today. Make your home a beautiful place to be. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, spring is springing! Go outdoors and find some lovely flowers for the dining room table and your nightstand. Beauty will make your heart sing.

When the Moon is in Libra, we are better able to see the many sides of situations in which we find ourselves or issues being discussed. It might be difficult to take a stand or make a decision. Later in the day, at 5:11 PM EDT, the accommodating Libra Moon briefly squares Mars, currently in Cancer. If you find yourself feeling frustrated or angry, try to avoid engaging in an argument, opting instead to listen for what’s igniting you and calmly talk things through. Remember the wise adage: This, too, will pass.

TREAD DELICATELY INTO EMOTIONAL DEPTHS

Thursday, May 4, 2023

At 10:33 AM EDT, the Moon enters Scorpio, bringing an intensity to the weekend. Clarifying and committing to personal boundaries can be a helpful practice at this time since the emotional depth and a need for privacy are hallmarks of this Fixed Water sign.

Scorpio is known as the detective of the Zodiac. Don’t shy away from hidden or powerful mysteries that present themselves for your investigation. This may be a good time to dig deep beneath the surface of your relationships, your family, or your own unconscious. But as you interact with others over the next few days, be mindful of others’ boundaries and their need for privacy, too.

Midday, Venus forms a challenging square aspect to Neptune (1:39 PM EDT). You will feel this transit for a day or two, though, it may not have much long-lasting influence. Expect to feel more emotional than usual. Keep in mind that when Venus is wearing Neptune’s foggy glasses, things are not always as they appear. Avoid making important decisions regarding finances or relationships over the next few days. On a more positive note, this is a great time for artistic endeavors and spiritual practices. Inspiration, imagination, and intuition are likely heightened.

SCORPIO LUNAR ECLIPSE FULL MOON

Friday, May 5, 2023

At 12:02 AM EDT, Venus sextile Jupiter encourages the expansion of love and social cohesion. This aspect will have an impact today and tomorrow and simply suggests positive and optimistic connections. Enjoy this one!

The main news of the day is the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 14° Scorpio at 1:34 PM EDT. Tune into your feelings and look to the Houses that hold Taurus and Scorpio in your natal chart. This is where eclipses have been occurring for the past few years. Consider the polarity of these Houses and the growth you’ve experienced in these areas of your life.

This Lunar Eclipse brings the culmination of what began at the Taurus Solar Eclipse on April 20, 2023, and the Scorpio New Moon back on November 23, 2022. Think carefully about what connects these two periods of time with the Houses involved in your natal chart. Today’s eclipse offers you the ability to discern what is real from illusion, particularly fearful illusions. Bring your attention back to your experience of the New Moon Solar Eclipse on April 20th, and take a risk that involves going deep for a profound understanding of things normally hidden from view.

WELCOME LIGHTNESS ARRIVES LATE AFTERNOON

Saturday, May 6, 2023

When the Moon is in Scorpio, we are encouraged to pull back the curtains. We are better able to find truths that have been hidden from view or discussion, especially regarding issues we usually find frightening or dangerous. On the heels of yesterday’s full moon eclipse, emotional intensity is evident, and you may need to spend time alone this morning.

You will certainly feel a shift when the Moon enters Sagittarius at 4:03 PM EDT. This Mutable Fire sign ushers us into a more positive, philosophical emotional state. Sagittarius is the optimist of the Zodiac, and its sense of humor and expansive vision help us see the silver lining in even the most difficult situations. We feel freer, more adaptable, and able to shift direction at this time.

VENUS ENTERS CANCER

Sunday, May 7, 2023

The Moon continues in Sagittarius today. In addition to its optimism, Sagittarius is known as the wanderer, making the whole world its home. A focus on higher ideals and learning through travel and/or study are hallmarks of this sign. We may feel restless as we contemplate where to find answers to the big life questions of meaning, implications, and significance.

At 10:24 AM EDT, Venus leaves airy Gemini behind and enters watery Cancer. She will remain in Cancer until August 6th. With Venus in Cancer, your values turn toward love, increased sensitivity, and a desire to protect yourself and others. During this time you may find that you are more affectionate and in more need of emotional security than usual. This is a good time to connect with memories of the past and possibly reconnect with estranged family members.

This is a very important time for those of you born between September 1964 and March 1967. As Saturn enters Pisces on March 7th you begin your Second Saturn return. The exception is for those born between mid-September and mid-December 1964. Your natal Saturn is in Aquarius and you are now finishing up your 2nd Saturn Return.

For those of you born between May 1993 and April 1996, this is the start of your first Saturn Return. The exception for those born between the end of June 1993 to late January 1994. Your natal Saturn is in Aquarius and you are now finishing up your 1st Saturn Return.

What is the Saturn return and what can you expect?

Saturn is the planet that represents responsibilities, time, and the development of hard-won wisdom. The Saturn return occurs when Saturn comes back to the position it was in at the time of your birth.

The first Saturn return, at approximately age 29 – 30 is your astrological coming of age. This pushes you into the reality and responsibilities of adulthood.

The second Saturn return, at approximately age 58 – 59 is a reckoning, showing clearly the results of your efforts and hard work over the past 29+ years. You can think of this as Karma or simply as your report card. You will be powerfully challenged if you have not done your work, you will be rewarded if you have.

Saturn demands that we each face reality in the area of our chart where natal Saturn resides. Taking full responsibility for the work necessary in this area will support the development of wisdom as you move forward.

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. The aspects under consideration are conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions. The planets I work with are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
