This is a highly significant week. You will find the daily posts below this lengthy exploration of the Moon’s travels.

Sagittarius New Moon Solar Eclipse

The week begins with the Moon in Sagittarius coming to the New Moon Solar Eclipse at 11:17 AM EST on Monday. The first thing to think about with a Solar Eclipse is that it is a supercharged New Moon. It is commonly understood that profound changes can occur at an Eclipse. There are various theories about the length of time the impact of an eclipse lasts. The only clear agreement is that the impact is more significant and lasts far longer than other New Moons.

Because a new moon is the start of a cycle we think of these times as new beginnings. However, remember that in all cycles, including the lunar cycle, the new beginning is immediately preceded by an ending. One cycle must end in order for a new cycle to begin. My observations have suggested that with a Solar Eclipse the focus is often on the ending rather than the beginning. Consider this in your own life and of course, your mileage may vary.

In a personal consideration of the Solar Eclipse, it is most important to know the house the eclipse falls in on your own chart. It is this area of your life where the impact will occur.

If you know your rising sign (using Whole Sign Houses):

  1. With Aries Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 9th House: World view, higher understanding
  2. With Taurus Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 8th House: Shared resources, other people’s values
  3. With Gemini Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 7th House: Partnership, public relationships
  4. With Cancer Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 6th House: Routines, health, service to others
  5. With Leo Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 5th House: Creativity, children, love given
  6. With Virgo Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 4th House: Home, family
  7. With Libra Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 3rd House: Communications, environment, siblings
  8. With Scorpio Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 2nd House: Self-worth, finances, resources
  9. With Sagittarius Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 1st House: Personality, self-expression
  10. With Capricorn Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 12th House: Unconscious, hidden wisdom
  11. With Aquarius Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 11th House: Community, love received
  12. With Pisces Rising the impact of the Solar Eclipse will be in your 10th House: Career, social recognition

The changing Moon for the remainder of the week:

The Moon sets the emotional tone as she moves through the Zodiac day-to-day. Learning to work with this rhythm will help you align with and relax into an easier flow with the Universe. Every 2 ½ days she leaves one Sign behind to enter the next.

As we move beyond the Sagittarius New Moon, the Moon enters Capricorn on Monday night (10:35 PM EST). This is where she will remain until the wee hours of Thursday morning (1:27 AM EST).
While the Moon is in Capricorn we are serious and focused on effort and desired accomplishments. These are the days when you may be more acutely aware of what is necessary to reach your goals and ambitions. Spending time alone in focused work and concentration is often your best bet when the Moon passes through this Cardinal Earth sign.

The Moon travels ahead into Aquarius long before you start the day on Thursday. She will stay in this innovative wildly creative and unusual sign until Saturday morning. You can expect to be more socially inclined while the Moon is in Aquarius. You want to connect with intellectual and like-minded people to build new ways of assisting in the empowerment and growth of humanity. Follow the curiosity of your most lofty ideas, talk to others who can help you flesh them out, and explore those ideas in a practical manner.

At 7:39 AM EST on Saturday morning the Moon enters Pisces where she will remain until the week’s end. This weekend is perfect for daydreaming and resting. Enjoy a glass of spiked eggnog or a glass of champagne, but please not too much. Read a fantasy novel or deepen your meditation practice. Drop your expectations of accomplishment, do not drop your diligence regarding health protocols. It is easy to get lax and think rules don’t matter when the moon passes through Pisces. Clarity is lacking and things are not always as they appear to be.

Rest and rejuvenate as you prepare for the Winter Solstice, the powerful conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, and the beginning of Capricorn Season just ahead.

Please keep in mind that transits to your natal planets can override these more universal ones.

NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE: ENDINGS COME BEFORE BEGINNINGS – Monday, December 14, 2020

The week begins with the Moon in Sagittarius reaching the New Moon Solar Eclipse at 11:17 AM EST. This is a supercharged New Moon as we can expect profound changes to occur at a Solar Eclipse. There are various theories about how long the impact of an eclipse lasts. Suffice it to know that there will be a lasting impact on your life from whatever circumstance occurs or story begins now.

Because a new moon begins a cycle we view these times as new beginnings. However, as with all cycles, the new beginning of a New Moon is immediately preceded by an ending. One cycle must end in order for a new cycle to begin. Oftentimes the difference with a Solar Eclipse is that the focus is on the ending rather than the beginning. Consider this in your own life.

As you consider the impact on your personal life, it is most important to know the house placement of the eclipse in your own chart/horoscope. It is this area of your life where the ending and beginning will occur.

It seems a Solar Eclipse would be enough for one day! However, there is more.

Venus sextile Jupiter at 3:58 PM EST, this is a lovely aspect suggesting an opportunity to show or receive love or resources in a big expansive way. Are you giving or receiving gifts today? You may feel very generous. Make sure your eyes are not bigger than your stomach or your generosity is not bigger than your bank account. Other than those precautions enjoy the sense of expansive love.

At 10:35 PM EST, the Moon enters Capricorn ushering us into a few days of more serious ambitious focus. For now, you can expect your dreams to reflect a more somber tone.

As Mercury trine Mars at 11:23 PM EST you may decide to stay up late to focus on a writing project or have a conversation that suddenly seems quite important. If you are already sleeping this gift of courageous speech will wait until tomorrow.

The Sagittarius Moon is void-of-course from 11:17 AM EST until she enters Capricorn at 10:35 PM EST. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

THERE IS MUCH TO CONSIDER – Tuesday, December 15, 2020

With the Moon in Capricorn today your attention focuses on determination, ambition, and integrity. As we are still under the influence of Mercury trine Mars, this is an excellent time to write or engage in a conversation that seeks an active result. Don’t start the conversation without knowing where you want it to lead. With the Moon in Capricorn maintain a serious focus on the desired outcome.

At 7:59 AM EST Venus sextile Saturn. Venus is in her final hours of being in Scorpio and Saturn is in its final days of Capricorn. There is a story ending here, a story about what we value and how we manifest, stabilize, and manage love, money, and resources. What have you learned in 2020 about what is truly important to you? How will you bring your new understanding of these values into the coming year? The next cycle begins with the conjunction of Venus to Saturn on February 6, 2021. You have nearly 2 months to finalize your preparations for a new cycle of understanding and stabilizing your deepest values.

At 11:21 AM EST Venus leaves Scorpio behind to enter Sagittarius. You may feel that you are coming out of a fog of intensity and fear as you enter into a new light of hope. Venus is Sagittarius values the higher understandings of all things. We expand our world view and learn to understand the world more deeply through travel, education, and cultural awareness. These things come into focus in the coming weeks. Venus remains in Sagittarius until January 8, 2021.

A powerful day – A powerful week, indeed!

WORK ALONE, WORK AT YOUR OWN PACE – Wednesday, December 16, 2020

When the Moon passes through Capricorn we don’t feel lighthearted, playful, dreamy, or in the mood to manage someone else’s issues or problems. These days are best used to take care of work on our own projects at our own pace. However today the Moon tangles with both Mars and Pluto reflecting unease and difficulty.

At 10:33 AM EST, the Moon squares Mars. If you are working with others, anger or frustration may flare-up. Don’t take the bait. Go for a walk to clear your head. Work on your own if at all possible.

At 2:33 PM EST the Moon conjuncts Pluto deepening the aggravation that began earlier in the day. Go for another walk! Now can you work alone?

Perhaps you are working alone and frustration is still difficult to manage. If this is the case, turn to simple projects that will offer accomplishment without frustration. It might help to focus on more Virgo like activities. Simple things like cleaning out old files or answering emails, or take a break from work altogether and do the laundry. Anything that will give you a sense of accomplishment without aggravation. If all else fails, rake the lawn or shovel snow.

Saving your more complex work tasks for the evening when the Moon moves beyond these tough conversations may be a great strategy. That way you can still end the day with the feeling of accomplishment that Capricorn loves so much.

Keep in mind that changes tomorrow, the very thought of that can help.

WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EACH OTHER – Thursday, December 17, 2020

The big news, and it is very important news, occurred in the first moment of the day as Saturn left Capricorn behind to enter Aquarius. Saturn, our most authoritative teacher will remain in this innovative sign until March of 2023.
Think this one through yourselves. Saturn is the authoritative teacher. This is the teacher that has very high expectations of us. Saturn demands that we face reality, take responsibility, and are accountable for our actions and our learning. That is Saturn’s job.

Saturn first entered Capricorn in December 2017. Because Saturn rules Capricorn, during this time we have felt the burden of effort, restrictions, and encountered the stirrings of authoritarianism. Think about what Saturn will teach us while in Aquarius. In Aquarius, our attention turns to humanitarianism, freedom, and innovation of all sorts. These are the issues that we will focus on in our learning for the next few years, do not expect these to be lessons coming from ease. Saturn always requires, work and effort, often pushing us to our limits. Over the coming years, we must face reality and learn our responsibility to each other, to all of humanity.

The focus on business and government structures (Saturn in Capricorn) shifts as we turn our focus to growth in science and technology that support humanitarian goals (Aquarius).

At 1:27 AM EST, the Moon follows Saturn into Aquarius. Saturn teaches us to care for others and our cooler emotional nature is ready to join that endeavor.

On Saturday Jupiter will follow Saturn’s lead into this intellectual high minded sign. We sigh in relief. Look at your own chart to consider what house (use Whole Sign Houses) Saturn is entering as it moves into Aquarius.

The Capricorn Moon is void-of-course from 12:35 AM EST until she enters the Aquarius at 1:27 AM EST. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

UNFLINCHING INNOVATION – Friday, December 18, 2020

Today is a day of adjustment as we absorb and grow accustomed to the energy of Aquarius. We will learn much about Aquarius while Saturn moves through this sign over the coming years.

Aquarius is a Fixed Air sign. Air signs represent the intellect, Fixed signs are determined and unflinching. Archetypes of Aquarius include the reformer, inventor, scientist, truth sayer, and exile. How will we see these archetypes mirrored in our lives and our culture over the coming years?

Today is well suited for wild, innovative thinking and gathering with others of like mind. The use of technology is very much aligned with Aquarius, so do keep those meetings on Zoom. Seek insights and brilliant ideas in the company of others.

Your emotions won’t get in the way as you are able to set them aside and view the situation from a more detached viewpoint. You are more interested in the plight of humanity than in personal oftentimes pesky emotions.

CHANGE IS IN THE AIR – Saturday, December 19, 2020

With the Moon’s entrance into Pisces this morning at 7:39 AM EST we move into a more sensitive day. We must rest and pay attention to creativity and our dreams. Do your best to set aside expectations of yourself and others.

At 8:07 AM EST Jupiter follows Saturn into Aquarius where it will remain for approximately one year. Wherever Jupiter moves it expands our understanding and knowledge. Jupiter also brings optimism to the table. While Jupiter is in Aquarius it will expand our understanding of our place in the larger community of humankind.

With both Saturn and Jupiter now in Aquarius anticipate increased understanding of the importance of fairness, kindness toward others, and humanitarianism.

Rewards are another gift of Jupiter and in Aquarius, we may reap rewards through becoming more just, open-minded, and inclusive. Our minds and hearts open to progress.

Think about these things as you consider the house that holds Aquarius in your chart.

At 10:25 PM EST Mercury conjuncts the Sun. With so much significant activity this week you may want to stay up late and talk and talk!

The Aquarius Moon is void-of-course from 3:45 AM EST until she enters Pisces at 7:39 AM EST. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

A QUIET DAY FOR REST – Sunday, December 20, 2020

Following a very busy week, we all need a rest today. Go for a walk. Even in New England’s stark December, there is great beauty in nature. With the Moon in Pisces walking in beauty will soothe you and bring rest to the weariness within. If it is miserable outside create a sanctuary indoors. Pull the shades and light some candles. Rest and connect with yourself or others with deep compassion.

It is amazing how our lives and the issues in the culture shift with the cycles of the planets. We have been through so much in the past 10 months and now the light at the end of the tunnel (Saturn and Jupiter now in Aquarius) is focused and strong. Thank goodness.

The Moon in dreamy Pisces is a mixed blessing. If you woke up thinking you had something to accomplish, forget about it. While the Moon is in Pisces we all feel softer, more adaptable, sensitive, and vulnerable than usual. Remember this in your interactions with others. Today is a day for artists, poets, and mystics.

At 6:07 PM EST Mercury enters Capricorn where it will remain until January 8th when it will join the others in Aquarius. For the next few weeks examine what you have learned, both personally and culturally over the past few years about authority and power.

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its void-of-course, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the void-of-course.
The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

“Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.” ~ Og Mandino
