Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: May 18, 2015 through May 24, 2015
Before we start the week, we must prepare for the Mercury retrograde, which begins Monday evening at 9:48 PM EDT. If you have followed my work for any amount of time, you are familiar with my ideas on Mercury retrograde. If you are new to my work and have the expectation of a great deal of negativity during Mercury retrograde, it is time to consider a new perspective.
I love Mercury Retrograde. Are you surprised to hear that? I remember when I was younger and had not yet learned how to manage these Mercury retrograde cycles. I encountered the same difficulties everyone is warned about.
Communications always seem to go wrong. Electronic and mechanical devices of all sorts broke down, misunderstandings occurred at every turn, and I couldn’t manage to get to an appointment on time nor did any of my clients show up on time. These are frustrating situations indeed.
It is amazing that a new perspective, a new attitude, and some preparation have totally changed my experience of Mercury retrograde. I encourage you to take on this new perspective along with the preparation.

Think about the pace with which we live our lives. Most of us have very little time for relaxation, contemplation, or rest. We seem to always be moving from activity, to appointment, to project, to whatever the next thing is. When Mercury is retrograde, we must slow down and look at all the loose ends we have left in our wake as we have rushed forward since the last Mercury retrograde (January 21st to February 11, 2015).
Get out your calendars and journals. Make a list of any projects, important communications, and plans that you have been working on since February 11th. Make a list of all that must occur to bring those projects, plans, and communications to their proper conclusion.
Mercury will remain retrograde until June 11th. Between now and then, your mission is to check off as much from this list as possible. If you begin new projects, plans, and significant communications during Mercury retrograde, you are likely to get tangled up in the difficulties and challenges you may have experienced during previous Mercury retrogrades.
Since I began employing this plan during Mercury retrograde, I am amazed at what a productive time this can be! The whole thing delights me so much that I am nearly in denial that there’s any difficulty at all with Mercury retrograde! 🙂
I understand how difficult this change of perspective and new way of managing Mercury retrograde can be! Be kind to yourself as you learn to watch this cycle in a new manner and with new expectations.

TAURUS NEW MOON; MERCURY RETROGRADE
Monday, May 18, 2015:
The Taurus New Moon is exact at 12:13 AM EDT. By the time we awake on Monday morning, the Moon is newly in Gemini. On an emotional level, we feel a new start and we are ready to begin new communications on well-seasoned issues.
As we encounter new perspectives on old issues, we must be extra careful in communicating those perspectives in a way that others will understand. If you have been dealing with a difficult communication with a partner or loved one and now find a new perspective, be prepared for the challenge of sharing that perspective in such a way that it will be welcomed and understood.
Mercury turns retrograde at 9:48 PM EDT. I hope you made your list of all the things left undone since the last Mercury retrograde in February. Prepare yourself to focus on completing those tasks over this next three weeks. Mercury will turn direct once again on June 11th.
All the tasks that have been set aside and left on the table are now ripe for a new perspective and completion. There is much to be accomplished. Encourage those around you to join you in this new way of experiencing Mercury retrograde.

COMMUNICATE WITHOUT MISUNDERSTANDINGS
Tuesday, May 19, 2015:
Tuesday is a day of adjustment. I think we can expect this to be a challenging adjustment in how we communicate, and how we anticipate and understand the communications of others. If there is something you do not understand, in any situation, ask for clarification.
Watch carefully for the tendency to make assumptions. Making assumptions this week will create fertile ground for misunderstandings that will color the next three weeks (and beyond).
You may see exciting new possibilities on some of the issues that have been troubling you for the past few weeks. If these possibilities are starting you in an entirely new direction, steer clear.
If the new possibilities and perspectives are a continuation of what you have already begun, work on clarifying your thinking and communicating it with patience. Be certain that your intention is being heard clearly.
At 1:58 PM EDT following a sextile to Uranus, the Moon is VOC* until Wednesday morning when she will enter Cancer.

CREATE PRECIOUS MEMORIES
Wednesday, May 20, 2015:
The day begins with the Moon VOC* and we may feel terribly unmotivated to get moving early. However, at 9:56 AM EDT, the Moon enters Cancer. Other then the continued adjustment to Mercury retrograde, we sail rather smoothly through Wednesday.

This is the final day of the sun in Taurus. On Thursday, the core energy of the Sun, the energy that gives light and warmth to all the planets, enters Gemini as the season moves into a busy time of growth here in the Northern Hemisphere.
Plan on enjoying this final day of sensual Taurean Energy as she so readily feeds Wednesday’s Cancer Moon need for closeness, connection, and love. This is a day to enjoy the sensual delights of shared food, shared memories, and shared physical connection.
Invite family or close loved ones to enjoy a meal together on Wednesday evening. Allow yourselves to reminisce and languish in memories of times and loved ones from the past.
Remain conscious that the love, affection, and pleasure you engage in now is a future precious memory.

SUN ENTERS GEMINI; WAKE UP
Thursday, May 21, 2015:
It feels to me that as the Sun enters Gemini, we all wake up!
The Sun enters Gemini at 4:44 AM EDT. Gemini is the final sign of Spring here in the Northern Hemisphere.
As the Sun entered Aries in late March, we certainly woke up to begin the assertive process of Spring. When the Sun entered Taurus, we rested in the sensual pleasures of Spring.
Now, as the Sun enters Gemini, all of our senses are on high alert as we attempt to observe and experience all of the new life pushing forward.
Think of all the new life and growth in this period of time. Take a walk in the woods; how many new varieties of flowers can you count? How many new ideas are percolating through your being?
Mercury (who has just gone retrograde this week) is the planetary ruler of Gemini. Gemini longs to communicate, understand, and make connections everywhere.
There is no question that it is a challenge to have Mercury retrograde while the sun is in Gemini. However, there is no point in bemoaning this fact! Consider this to be an opportunity, pay careful attention to your communication skills and pay close attention to what is being communicated to you from others.
Curiosity is a wonderful gift of Gemini. Keep your eyes open, listen carefully, ask many questions, and do not make assumptions. Make sure your communications are being interpreted as you intend them to be. Double-check everything!
At 9:56 PM EDT, Venus opposes Pluto. Where is love or money demanding that you look very clearly into the very darkest corners of your heart, mind, and experience?
On December 20, 2014, the cycle between Venus and Pluto began. At that time, how was love, your deep values, or some financial situation insisting that you start a new cycle of great depth? Was there some way that money, relationships, or your values insisted on a new and profoundly deep path?
Look at where that path has brought you since its beginning. At this time, you should clearly see what you began and where it has landed you. The intensity of this situation releases its energy as you move forward to assimilate its full growth.
With the Cancer Moon connecting with both Pluto and Uranus, anticipate sensitivity and practice deep kindness. At 8:36 PM EDT following a square to Uranus, the Moon will be VOC*until Friday evening. No internet shopping on Thursday evening!

A MATURE SENSE OF SELF
Friday, May 22, 2015:
The Moon remains in Cancer and is VOC*until she enters Leo at 5:42 PM EDT.
Friday is likely to be a day of very little accomplishment. Not a lot will result from your efforts. Give yourself and anyone you encounter a lot of slack, as I can imagine a great deal of frustration as we try to get through to the other side of this day.
We may feel nostalgic and lonely, somehow seeing the past as preferable to where we are today. The intensity of the last 24 hours may leave us concerned that we have made a serious mistake in our lives. Keep moving forward, do not buy into regret, there are many more steps along this path.
At 9:34 PM EDT, the Sun opposes Saturn. This is energy that we feel for a day or so on each side of the exact aspect. Traditionally, we tend to think of the Sun opposing Saturn as being a time of restriction, regret, and hard work.
I am much more inclined to think of it in the context of the cycle between the Sun and Saturn. This cycle began in mid-November 2014. What was the hard work that you took on at that time? In what area of your life were you working to develop a more seriously mature perspective?
This is a cycle of maturing within the self. At this time, it should be obvious whether what you began in November has led you to a place of deeper maturity or not.
You may feel a bit heavy, even a bit depressed, but if you have developed deeper maturity you are on the right path. If your honest answer is no, that you have not developed a deeper maturity, it is time to make an adjustment that will lead you to a more serious space within the self.

BEGIN TO EASE UP
Saturday, May 23, 2015:
The opposition between the Sun and Saturn is firmly with us on Saturday as well. Spending serious time in self contemplation or meditation on Saturday morning should be very helpful.
Do not belabor the point, do not get stuck in feelings of restriction and self-denial. Understand that as humans we all make mistakes and we all learn from those mistakes. Shake off feelings of heaviness with physical activity.
The Moon is in Leo all day. Find fun and playful people to spend time with! Do not avoid the serious self contemplation, do not try to go directly to the fun and play.
You must do the work before the play. However, the playful, demonstrative self-expression of Leo is available once you have done the hard work.
Get it out of the way early in the day and get on with an enjoyable Saturday evening!

NO EXPECTATIONS; KEEP IT SIMPLE
Sunday, May 24, 2015:
No chores, no tasks, no expectations! Following a trine to Uranus at 6:50 AM EDT, the Moon is VOC* in Leo. She does not enter Virgo until Monday morning, giving us a very long VOC* Moon under the influence of Uranus!
Sunday is traditionally a day set aside from the rest of the work-week; a day for rest and spiritual renewal. I am not sure that this is a day specifically aligned for spiritual renewal but it is certainly a day for rest, and simple, if not unusual, pleasures.
Plan a day with uncomplicated friends and uncomplicated activities. Keep in mind the clarity that is required in your communications and enjoy working with friends toward simple fun.
_________________________________________________________
This week: The VOC* Moon!
VOC* (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign. This can consist of several minutes or many hours. These periods are best handled with little expectation of accomplishment. These times are ideally suited for rest and contemplation.
Block off these times in your schedule and avoid making significant decisions or working on important projects during these times. During VOC* Moon, focus on routine tasks. You will be surprised at how this one change will smooth the edges of your life!
Do you have questions about what is appropriate to do or not do during the VOC* moon? A simple way to think about it is to ask a simple question: Do I hope that this activity will amount to something? If the activity does not need to amount to anything, go ahead with it!
If you have an expectation or desire that this action is going to amount to something, do not do it while the Moon is VOC*. Think about the time you bought a book you were certain you were going to love and you never could finish it! Think about the time you bought the perfect article of clothing that you ended up never wearing. That is the Moon VOC*!
Monday, May 18, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Taurus) following a conjunction to the Sun (the New Moon) at 12:13 AM EDT until entering Gemini at 5:27 AM EDT.
Tuesday, May 19, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Gemini) following a sextile to Uranus at 1:58 PM EDT until she enters Cancer on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 9:56 AM EDT.
Thursday, May 21, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Cancer) following a square to Uranus at 8:36 PM EDT until she enters Leo on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 5:42 PM EDT.
Sunday, May 24, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Leo) following a trine to Uranus at 6:50 AM EDT until she enters Virgo on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 4:52 AM EDT.

* In these weekly reports, I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.
The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

Mercury turns retrograde at 2° Scorpio – Saturday afternoon at 1:02 PM EDT

There are times that it seems relatively easy to get a feel for the energies that are moving through us as reflected by the planetary cycles.

I tend to look at the more positive side of these cycles. I believe that we must be available to the positive expression of these transits to manifest in our lives. Focusing on the negative allows the wrong doors to swing open in our lives. Some weeks, months, and years are easier to do this than others.

In current time the mix of energies is quite extreme. You may be more strongly impacted by one of these energies, by the other, or by both simultaneously.

If your personal life is being impacted most strongly by the Fire Trine (Jupiter in Leo, Uranus in Aries, Mars in Sagittarius) your experience is bound to express itself as excitement, unexpected change, and/ or extreme anxiety. You may feel that you are residing in an electrified environment; for good or for bad.

If your personal life is being impacted more strongly by the ongoing Square between Uranus and Pluto (still!), your experience is more likely to express itself through power dynamics, intense transformation, issues of control, perhaps even issues of violence and/or shame.

It is important to remember that, depending on our individual chart/ personality makeup, different energies feel very different to different people.

I may find Uranus transits to be incredibly exciting and yet struggle terribly with Pluto transits; you, on the other hand, may struggle terribly with the anxiety of Uranus transits and deeply enjoy the depth and power of Pluto transits.

We are complex humans who respond to different energies from the perspective of our own internal makeup.

This week: The VOC* Moon!

Block off these times in your schedule and avoid making significant decisions or working on important projects during these times. During VOC* Moon, focus on routine tasks. You will be surprised at how this one change will smooth the edges of your life!

Monday, September 29, 2014 Moon is VOC* following a Trine to Jupiter at 11:29PM EDT, ending at 12:41AM EDT on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 as the Moon enters Capricorn. This gives us the entire day on Tuesday September 30 with the VOC* Moon. Wow!

Thursday, October 2, 2014 Moon is VOC* following a Sextile to Saturn at 12:18PM EDT and ending 3:59AM EDT on Friday October 3, 2014 as the Moon enters Aquarius.

Saturday, October 4, 2014 Moon is VOC* following a Square to Saturn at 2:31PM EDT and ending at 5:24 AM EDT on Sunday October 5, 2014 when the Moon enters Pisces.

Monday, September 29, 2014:

We do not want to go to work Monday morning with the Moon in Sagittarius. We long to extend the freedom of the weekend into the first few days of the week. As the Moon moves through Sagittarius she activates the Grand Trine Energy in Fire (Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Leo, Mars in Sagittarius).
Expect a highly active day, a day in which you can activate great excitement and wild changes. There is no need to hold anything back on Monday!
The flow of energy is hot, vibrant, and expansive! Whatever you began at last week’s New Moon is highly activated and growing! Take advantage of this energy to move your life forward!
At 4:52 PM EDT Venus leaves behind the precision and refinement of Virgo and enters Libra. Venus rules Libra and is delighted with the time she spends here (until October 23).
Consider the harmony, balance, love, and beauty you wish to develop in your life and your relationships. How diplomatically can you present your values to others?

Time spent in consideration of your personal sense of beauty, partnership, and resources is time well spent today.
Make a point to create something beautiful in even one small corner of your home, your office, or your heart.

Tuesday, September 30, 2014:

Tuesday marks an interesting day! On Monday, shortly before midnight, the Moon made her final aspect (Trine Jupiter) before going VOC*.
This VOC* period continues until Wednesday morning at 12:41AM EDT!
This presents us with an entire day of no major planetary aspects. This happens infrequently and can be considered a gift; a time that we can sit back and relax in this point of cosmic calm. In the ideal world you could take the day off from work; sit by the ocean, go to a movie, or play with your grandchildren! A day meant for rejuvenation!

Wednesday, October 1, 2014:

On Wednesday we awake with the Moon in Capricorn, a day that seems to be perfectly provided to make up for our lack of accomplishment on Tuesday. This is a day of serious ambition, effort, and work!
The First Quarter Moon is exact at 3:33PM EDT, encouraging us to consider what we began at the Libra New Moon (24 September). It is time to take action, moving in the direction you aspired to at the New Moon. What action is needed in order for that seed to grow healthy and strong?
We are coming close to Mercury’s retrograde (Saturday). If you haven’t already, now is the time to make sure your computers are backed up, any car repairs are complete, and all systems are go for the three weeks of Mercury Retrograde (October 4 – October 25). We will have more conversation about the Mercury Retrograde over the coming days.
When we consider the accomplishment and ambition of Capricorn it is important to remind ourselves that the serious energy of this Sign must be firmly focused on the accomplishment itself and not on seeking accolades for the self. Remember that in order for Capricorn to be healthy there must be a very high level of personal integrity. Without integrity Capricorn turns bitter, cold, and uncaring. As you allow ambition to move you forward be very clear on your own personal integrity. Remember, it is not about anyone else’s beliefs it is only your own integrity that matters.

Thursday, October 2, 2014:

You may notice a certain amount of anxiety Thursday morning as the Capricorn Moon squares Uranus, following her connection with Pluto Wednesday evening. This is, once again, a simple reminder that the transformation required of us is still in process.
The ongoing Pluto Square Uranus transit, which began in June of 2012, still has two more impact points: one in December 2014 and one in March 2015.
How is the personal transformation, that is required in your own life, proceeding? Sit with this simple consideration on Thursday. What serious steps do you need to take to bring this transformation to its natural conclusion?
Remember, as much as you are on your own individual path of transformation, you are not alone! Few are escaping the requirement for major life change.
Sure, it looks very different in our individual lives. But no matter what it looks like or what area of our lives is being transformed, we really are all in this together. Consider this when you meet strangers on the street, your mechanic, and the cashier behind the counter at the grocery store! We are all on this path and are all a bit uncertain about the way forward. We are not complete yet. Be kind to everyone you meet.
At 12:18 PM EDT the Capricorn Moon forms a Sextile aspect to Saturn (the planet of integrity and hard work). The Moon will be VOC* from this point until early Friday morning.
Thursday afternoon spend time contemplating your final steps along this journey. There is no need for immediate action; there is deep requirement for contemplation, self-respect, and determination to reach your inner deepest goals. How differently will your life look in another year when the Uranus-Pluto transformation is complete?

Friday, October 3, 2014:

When you wake on Friday morning notice that the heaviness from Thursday has been lifted. Relief!
The Moon is now in Aquarius, allowing some distance from the heavy emotional weight of the past several days. This is a great day to exercise your ability to imagine the future with more freedom for yourself and others.
Social issues of the wider community are likely to frame the day. Consider carefully how your life experience is moving humanity toward more freedom and expression of individuality. How can your life be an example of freedom to the lives of others? Do we ever really understand the importance of the example we present to others? Every time we allow freedom for ourselves, we allow others to see the path to freedom a little clearer. Every time we close ourselves into a small box we tell others it is not safe to go outside.
Please allow your full expression to provide an example to bring humanity to deep new levels of understanding.
This is a day to encounter and express deep love and understanding of our human condition. Individual love takes a backseat to our desire to encounter the true love of community.

Saturday October 4, 2014:

Mercury turns retrograde!
We have felt it coming… and here is: Mercury turns retrograde (2° Scorpio) at 1:02 PM EDT! For the next three weeks you can accomplish a great deal if you focus on projects that have been left undone since the time of the last Mercury retrograde in July 2014.
Do not listen to the intense negativity you will hear regarding Mercury Retrograde. This is a time that can be well utilized as long as you simply follow a few rules.

  • do not start new projects!
  • do not begin new agreements
  • do not start new communications (if the conversation has not begun before now, do not begin it until Mercury goes direct).
  • sort through the information and projects left undone on your desk and in your mind; make a list of everything that needs to be completed
  • focus all your attention on the list you just made
  • plan on needing more time than usual; adjust and schedule your time accordingly
  • be profoundly patient with yourself and others

There is more significance to this day besides Mercury turning retrograde. At 4:05 AM EDT the Sun forms an exact Square to Pluto. The energy of this aspect (which is in clear evidence throughout the week) shows us the importance of power and enables the illumination of what has been long hidden. Long-standing taboos and secrets hold power over our lives and our souls. Illuminating our secrets requires great courage and proves to be the key to our deepest personal empowerment.
My teacher, Noel Tyl, refers to the image of the blanket over a hand grenade in speaking of the contact between the Sun and Pluto. There are two ways that I consider this image. Think of the hand grenade as something about to explode and the blanket holding it down and keeping us safe. Alternatively we can think of the hand grenade as our deepest empowerment and the blanket the fear that keeps us from utilizing our power. Perhaps they are one and the same; the blanket is our fear that we imagine as our protection. Do we peek cautiously under that blanket in fear of the explosion or do we tear the blanket off, fast like a bandage, allowing the pain to be released quickly into the universe?
Consider the theme of secrets, exposure, vulnerability, and empowerment. Remember your deepest empowerment is often hidden away along with your shame and secrets.
Also, the Moon becomes VOC* following a square to Saturn at 2:31 PM EDT. The afternoon offers the time for contemplation of your most profound depths.

Sunday, October 5, 2014:

By the time we get up on Sunday morning the Moon has entered Pisces. This should prove to be a dreamy day with an edge; or perhaps it would be better to think of it as an edgy day with a dream.
Mars Trine Uranus at 12:17 AM EDT
Consider back to the spring of 2013 when Uranus and Mars connected at 8° Aries. The cycle between them, which began at that time, is important for us to consider now. This cycle brings to mind action, sexuality, drive, and revolutionary action, strong, deliberate, and decisive action.
What firm significant action did you take in the spring of 2013? What have you learned about the flow of powerful energy within your body, your soul, and your mind since that time? Allow a powerful free flow of that energy now.
This brings us into orb of a very powerful Fire Grand Trine. We are empowered to engage with courage and assertiveness in profound ways and in many areas of our lives. Don’t allow negative aggression or ego to get in the way of this energy. Use this energy to connect deeply with generosity and love.

This week is about moving forward. On Monday Mercury will turn direct at 24° Gemini, enabling us to finally take our first steps forward following all the cleanup we’ve been doing for the past three weeks. Throughout the course of the week the Moon moves through Leo, Virgo, Libra, and ends the week in Scorpio. We seek fun, to be of service, to partner diplomatically, and to make contact on deep emotional levels.

What have you been waiting for these past three weeks? You are now ready to take the first steps forward.

Monday, June 30, 2014:

The week begins with the Moon in playful, expressive Leo.

On Monday you would love to play hooky and have an extra day off from work. The afternoon may be challenging as the Moon trines Uranus and sextiles Mars, encouraging you to take action on your most unusual plans. You long for space, freedom, and emotional independence. And yet, even as you seek freedom, you feel pulled back by a sense of responsibility, guilt, and resistance (Moon square Saturn). It is easy to project the difficulty of this onto someone else. Take personal responsibility for the excitement and the hard work of your situation.

This may present us with the desire to fight for change and the desire to strongly resist change. Yes, the two can coexist. Allow both to be the reality of your situation. No decision needs to be made at this time. Cultivate the ability to hold two opposing ideas at the same time. With so many contradictory opinions, it is a good idea to learn to find stability, excitement, and comfort in this balance.

Tuesday, July 1, 2014:

It is a relief to finally come to this day! After three weeks of moving backwards (our perception), Mercury finally turns direct at 8:49 AM EDT. It will take a few days for Mercury to get up to speed. In the meantime you are grateful to be moving forward.

At 6AM EDT, following a sextile to Mercury, the Moon goes VOC* in Leo until she enters Virgo at 5:24 PM EDT. This provides you with the entire day of Moon VOC*. My favorite thing to do when the Moon is VOC* is to spend it in a coffee shop with a good book! You may not have that luxury. However, don’t work on your most important projects on Tuesday. Spend the day completing routine tasks. It will be a few days before Mercury gets to full speed. Save your more important activities for this evening or later in the week.

Wednesday, July 2, 2014:

Don’t be surprised if you wake up Wednesday morning feeling overly sensitive and confused about the direction of your day. The Moon is in Virgo, opposing Neptune at 8:30 AM EDT.

The best way to approach this is to simply get out of your own way and find where you can be of help to others. If you focus your energies on selfish pursuits you will likely struggle and lose your way. Bring humility and discrimination to all your projects and interactions with others. Focus on precision and efficiency in all that you do. Wednesday evening as the Virgo Moon trines Pluto would be a great time to tackle a meticulous project that requires analytical perfection.

Wednesday will probably not be a day of excitement but can be a day of practical productivity and quiet time shared with others.

Thursday, July 3, 2014:

Thursday’s energies are similar to Wednesday’s, a productive day good for detail-oriented work and service to others. However, as we move toward evening, Friday’s early morning opposition between Sun and Pluto is bound to begin making itself known. If you have planets at 12° of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), pay attention. Where in your life are you under the thumb of someone else’s power or coercion? Over the next 24 hours keep your eyes open to those things you may be trying to keep hidden, from yourself or others.

Friday, July 4, 2014:

Friday offers an opportunity to see deep clarity on your path. At 4:02AM EDT Sun opposes Pluto. Get out your journal and let’s take a look at where this cycle began. Actually, you probably won’t need your journal for this one. The cycle began when Sun conjuncted Pluto on January 1, 2014. That should be an easy day to remember! A new cycle regarding your personal empowerment began at that time. Whatever began on January 1 now has the ability to release the creative energy that has built since that time. Where have you been building power and empowerment? What transformation began that you now see the full picture of? Since January you have been building, purifying, and transcending. How far have you come? What have the results been? Powerful forces have created major change in your life. New perspectives are confirmed!

The Moon is in Libra all day offering diplomacy to the situation.

Saturday, July 5, 2014:

On Saturday, the Moon is in Libra making stressful aspects to Pluto, Sun, Uranus, and Mars. You may want to partner with someone and yet the energies are not making it easy. Your communications could be easily misinterpreted. Early morning brings us to the first quarter square of the Moon. Last Friday, June 27th was a New Moon in Cancer. At that time you planted seeds of domestic desire. Whatever new dynamic you are creating in your domestic situation requires a step forward. Consider what you want to change in the situation and take an action on Saturday.

Sunday, July 6, 2014:

When you awake on Sunday, I suspect you will feel an immediate relief after Saturday’s intensity. Take yourself, a friend, or your family out for brunch! Do something special to enjoy the early part of this day.

At 11:31AM EDT, following a connection with Jupiter, the Moon goes VOC* in Libra.

At 3:34PM EDT the Moon (the symbol of your deepest needs) enters Scorpio. You would benefit from spending time alone in deep contemplation in the afternoon or evening.

* In these weekly reports I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to it’s VOC time, as that aspect holds it’s influence throughout the VOC*
The Aspects I consider: Conjunctions, Sextiles, Squares, Trines, and Oppositions
The Planets I am working with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
*VOC (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign. This can consist of several minutes or many hours. These periods are best handled with little expectation of accomplishment; times ideally suited for rest and contemplation.

The week begins with the excitement and generosity of the Leo Moon. Throughout the course of the week the moon moves through Leo, Virgo and Libra.

The emotional energy of the week brings us into connection with others: in Leo we engage our generosity and playfulness, in Virgo we engage in offering ourselves in service to others, and in Libra we seek to bring diplomacy and pleasure to those we encounter.

The most significant issue of the week comes on Saturday morning when Mercury turns retrograde at 7:56 AM EDT. Beware of astrologers who talk about Mercury retrograde as being a terribly negative time. Indeed, Mercury retrograde takes some understanding and effort to utilize well. You will hear people saying that everything goes wrong when Mercury is retrograde; you will hear stories of communications, projects, vehicles, electronic devices, and friendships falling apart!

Take the time to prepare yourself. Make sure your hard drive is backed up, make sure your car has been serviced, make sure communications between yourself and your loved ones are in a state of harmony and balance.

Monday, June 2, 2014:

We begin the week with the Moon in Leo, suggesting the importance of offering open-hearted generosity in all that we do. The Moon Squares Venus in the morning indicating a conflict between our desire to be seen in the world and our desire to sit home enjoying comfort and sensual pleasures.
Monday evening offers the possibility of social connections and interesting engagement with others. We are likely to have a great deal of energy and the ability to deeply move others. It may not be easy to wind-down at the end of the day, as our minds are very active.
We are apt to see things that we are anxious to take action on. Go ahead and allow yourself to stay up later than normal. See what you can accomplish before heading off to bed! Enjoy the excitement and possibility swirling through your mind.

Tuesday, June 3, 2014:

Tuesday brings another full day with the Moon in Leo. The morning begins with intensity and excitement as the Moon Trine Uranus. Our emotions are not willing to hide! We want to be seen for the unique individual that we are!
That excitement does not last long and by midmorning it is a thing of the past.
At 10:42 AM EDT (with the final aspect of the Moon being a Square to Saturn) the Leo Moon goes VOC* for the remainder of the day. Do not anticipate a great deal of accomplishment on Tuesday. This is a fine day to contemplate how you will manage the upcoming Mercury retrograde. Mercury has slowed considerably in his/her preparation for turning retrograde on Saturday. We are definitely feeling ‘off our game’. Keep this in mind as you encounter others throughout your day. As the anxiety builds many of us are in need of deep kindness. Offer simple friendship and compassion without expectation. It is hard to overemphasize the difference a bit of kindness can make in a single life. We never know how far that kindness spreads.

Wednesday, June 4, 2014:

Wednesday begins with a lovely Sextile between Venus and Neptune. This offers us the opportunity to work on a project that began in February of 2013. Consider what you began then. At that time there were many planets in Pisces! It may be hard to identify what began; did you start a project that involved art, beauty, or romantic love? Did you develop a new awareness around the spirituality of money/resources, or did you begin a meditation or spiritual practice? Consider the energy that comes together when Venus and Neptune meet: romantic love, idealized beauty, love of dreaming, clandestine relationship, the spirituality of money. Be aware of the opportunity that is available now to push that issue/situation/project forward. If you began some artistic endeavor, pick up those paintbrushes; if you began a spiritual practice, sit on that meditation cushion a little longer, if you fell in love, go back to the source of that love. We may notice this week that we are in love with love and all things of beauty. We do not want to see what is dirty or ugly in the world. Our focus is on love.
At 10:20 AM EDT the Moon enters Virgo ending a very long VOC* and brings an emotional practicality to this soft spiritual awareness.

Thursday, June 5, 2014:

The Virgo Moon is highly active on Thursday, making contact with Neptune, Venus, Pluto, Sun, and Saturn. This suggests a very busy day. At 4:39 PM EDT the Virgo Moon makes the First Quarter square to the Sun. This is the point in the Lunar Cycle when we are asked to take action on something that needs attention in order to move forward. What kind of busyness would you imagine with an active Virgo Moon? If you don’t have a traditional job to go to, you could clean out the attic, the closets, the basement! If you have that traditional job, I’m sure you’ve got a ton of organization to accomplish before Mercury goes retrograde on Saturday. This is a great day to focus on the details of life.
Consider who you are and how your work in the world is of service to others. Take a good long look at your own internal processes. What can you improve within yourself to be more useful to your community?

Friday, June 6, 2014:

On Friday we have another very long VOC* Moon! The last aspect the Moon makes while in Virgo is a Sextile to Jupiter at 5:13AM EDT. Emotionally the day is colored with the expansive optimism of Jupiter!

At 7:20 AM EDT the Gemini Sun sextiles Uranus suggesting great inspiration and excitement. Don’t expect an ordinary day! Our thoughts and experiences may be a bit unsettling and we are not afraid to upset the apple cart. We may notice defiance in others even as we insist on our own independence and originality. Consider what was on our minds the first few days of April 2014. What was your excitement or inspiration then? How can you now take a step forward to realize your vision?

At 10PM EDT the Moon leaves Virgo to seek the beauty and diplomacy of Libra. Enjoy sweet dreams!

Saturday, June 7, 2014:

Today Mercury turns to retrace his/her steps! The first steps back begin at 7:56 AM EDT. Following several days of very slow motion, it is almost a relief when Mercury is actually retrograde. Anyone who has followed me for long knows that I love our Mercury Retrograde times. Many people become very uncomfortable when Mercury is retrograde and yet it is a time where much can be accomplished. When you hear people discussing all the things that are going to go wrong when Mercury is retrograde, please try to explain to them that it is only a time to redo what hasn’t been done properly since the last Mercury retrograde. Think about the time between then and now. The last Mercury retrograde began on February 6, 2014 and extended through until February 28, 2014. Consider all that you have done, all the projects you have begun, all the books that you’ve started. Consider all the things that have not been completed. How many projects that are half done under a pile on your desk? Mercury will be retrograde until July 1. This gives us time to go back and finish all those half-done projects! It is true that this is not the time to begin new projects, this is not the time to take on new responsibilities, this is not the time to purchase new electronic devices or new cars. This is the time to focus on what needs to be completed from the past. Conversations that have been left unfinished can be finished now. Used properly, Mercury retrograde is a powerful time of getting caught up in accomplishing things that have been on your to do list since the February. Get on it, get to work, no complaining about Mercury retrograde, enjoy this time!
On Saturday, the Libra Moon is stressed as she harshly encounters the realities still inherent in the Uranus square Pluto transit, with Mars still involved. We may want to pick our battles gently, offering more kindness than what comes easily.

Sunday, June 8, 2014:

On Sunday, the Moon is in Libra all day. There is a sense of it being a much kinder day than Saturday. The Moon and Sun are in a beautiful trine aspect, opening us to friendships and lovely conversations! This has the potential to be a very pleasant day. Go out for brunch with friends, take in a movie. Enjoy the people in your life.
The evening brings another free flowing trine between Venus and Pluto. There is the possibility of tapping into powerful experiences of love and beauty. Perhaps you will win a fortune on the race-track! Or fall in love! There is the possibility of deep empowerment regarding something that you value highly, be that love, beauty money, or resources. Something that began in mid-November has grown to the point of bringing powerful beauty into form now. Get out your journals and let me know what this is about for you. I would love to hear!

Mercury Retrograde: Astrology Weather February 3, 2014 – February 9, 2014

Mercury Retrograde: Astrology Weather February 3, 2014 – February 9, 2014

This week we turn toward a more personal focus. Our thoughts are on our own individual needs, our own pleasures, and our own thoughts. Consider what you need this week.

I know you will all be interested to know that Mercury turns retrograde on Thursday, February 6th  at 3° of Pisces.
It is almost as though Mercury realizes she is about to make contact with Neptune and quickly turns away. Perhaps we aren’t yet ready to look at the world through the filter of such sensitivity and idealism.
There are projects and plans that must be complete before we move any further into that elusive space of mind. There are tasks that must be redone before we move forward. So now as Mercury appears to move backwards we consider the reality of what we need to redo, rework, rethink, and re-imagine.

Monday, February 3, 2014:

In my mind when I write these posts I consider that Monday morning means that everyone is heading back to work. I realize that is not the reality of everyone’s life (certainly not my own!) but for purposes of writing the weekly posts it works for me to think of it that way.
This week Monday begins with a powerful energy of beginnings! Moon in Aries is all about what is new, fresh, and vital! With the Moon in Aries our emotional nature is self absorbed, we want what we want! We don’t want to take ‘No’ for an answer, our own needs are of primary importance. Think about Aries as the screaming infant who wants its own way, or the courageous warrior at your side just when you need him/her. We begin the week with the attitude of selfishness, impatience, or dynamic courage. If you look around you will see impulsiveness and assertiveness openly expressed.
It may be a cranky start to the week as that fiery aggressive Aries Moon makes contact with Uranus and Pluto. It would be easy to let frustration and even anger rule the day. However, you can stretch yourself outside of that narrow use of this energy. Look to see where you can show strength, leadership, and determination in the service of others. Find ways to utilize directed forceful energy without being locked in self-concern.

Tuesday, February 4, 2014:

On Tuesday we still have assertiveness, strength, and determination, courtesy of the Aries Moon,  without the struggle and anxiety that Uranus and Pluto added to the mix on Monday.  Early in the day (Moon Sextile Sun) look for an opportunity to bring your most dynamic energy to the service of humanity at large; keep your eyes focused on the big picture and pay attention to what needs to be done. There is certainly an abundance of energy for pushing forward.
It is important to expend physical energy in the evening (Moon Oppose Mars). Go for a long run, a vigorous hike, or get yourself to the ski slopes! Get some of that energy out of your body; no team sports please! This is an individual and solitary endeavor. Without expending pent-up assertiveness you could easily become frustrated and short-tempered with others! Following the Opposition to Mars at 6:14PM EST the Moon will be VOC* until morning when she will enter the predictable calm world of Taurus.

Wednesday, February 5, 2014:

When you wake up Wednesday morning notice that whatever battle you have been fighting for the last few days is over! You will be ready to settle-in and seek-out a bit of comfort and stability. The Moon enters Taurus at 4:47AM EST. Pay attention to a deeply abiding sense of reverence*; develop the ability to notice and recognize it.
Pay attention to your body over the next few days. Get a massage, enjoy a physical discipline/practice that is slow, deliberate, and earthy. Get in touch with your physical needs/desires. Appreciate the gift of having a human body to inhabit. Connect with beauty and wonder of this life.

At 2:51 PM EST Jupiter, which is in the nurturing Sign of Cancer, Trine Chiron. Chiron is a dwarf planet that represents our deepest wounds and our most profound healing. Whatever kindness and affection you show to yourself at this time, will empower deep healing. Show warmth, kindness, and love to yourself and all who you encounter.
*Definition of Reverence: A feeling of profound awe, respect and often love; veneration.

Thursday, February 6, 2014:

Yes, Mercury turns retrograde on Thursday, but first lets look at the Moon! The Moon in Taurus comes to her First Quarter Square (2:22PM EST at 18degrees Taurus). Consider what you began on the New Moon last Thursday, January 30. Whatever began, or whatever you put into motion at that time now requires you to take action. What action, taken now, will propel forward your aspiration? If you are certain this is the direction you want to go; take action now. Stabilize your intention with action in reality.
Mercury turns retrograde at 4:43 PM EST I know how hard this is for many of you. People get very worked up around Mercury retrograde and yet it is a powerful time for accomplishment if we know how to use it. The key is to look at what jobs tasks projects programs are still sitting unfinished on your desk. Mercury will remain retrograde until February 28th. For now there is no point in trying to move forward on any new projects,  plans etc. it is time to complete what has been left incomplete. Clean up your desk, find all the incomplete tasks, all the phone calls you haven’t returned, all the jobs that still need a few more touches to finish. Now you can easily get them done!  It is time to redo, re-imagine, reread, rewrite, and re-create what is left undone from the past.

Friday, February 7, 2014:

Just before midnight EST on Thursday the Moon made a final aspect while in Taurus (an Opposition to Saturn) bringing a sense of hard work and responsibility into the early part of Friday. However with the Moon being VOC* until 1:44 PM EST we may be left with a feeling of frustration at not being able to accomplish what we feel like we ‘should’! Let go of the ‘shoulds’ and allow yourself to feel fine with exactly where you are in every moment. Remember you are heading toward a great weekend.
Early Friday evening with the Moon in Gemini provides a great opportunity for socialization and exploration of new ideas. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to head home early and spend time alone with a good book or a movie.

Saturday, February 8, 2014:

Saturday morning the Moon in Gemini Sextiles Uranus in Aries! To me this looks like a day for Fun, Exploration, Excitement!  This is a time to realize that we can learn so much, enrich our lives with so many new people and new ideas. Everyone we encounter has thoughts and idea what can enrich our thinking. What an opportunity it is when we share information with others. The more unlike ourselves they are the more we can learn. Don’t narrow your social focus to people who are your age, your race, your ethnicity, or who share your spiritual or political opinions! Expand outward to those you don’t have much in common with. Share thoughts, share ideas, listen! This provides us with a great opportunity to learn, grow, and explore. Take the time to look in directions you’ve never looked before; explore ideas you never thought would be interesting. This can work well today because Moon Sextile Uranus allows us to keep our emotions objective and somewhat detached. Enjoy! Share! Explore!

Sunday, February 9, 2014:

How lovely! The entire weekend is cut out perfectly for what we would imagine a great weekend to be! On Sunday the Moon will remain in Gemini; going VOC at 4:09 PM EST following a Trine to Mars. Spend the evening finishing up preparations for the upcoming week, light socializing, reading, or light study would be a perfect end to the weekend!
