It is fun to think about how each holiday throughout the year resonates with the sign the sun is passing through at that time. Thanksgiving Day asks that we express gratitude as we gather with others as we emerge out of the darkness of Scorpio season. Look inward to what you are thankful for and spend time with loved ones. This is a great reflection of expansive wisdom-seeking Sagittarius.

I don’t actually celebrate most holidays but I always take time to make a list of what I am grateful for. This is an important exercise and one I hope you will all take time this week to do. Sagittarius season is a great time to engage the muscle of gratitude. It is a great time to pay attention and appreciate all that expands and supports your life.

Gathering with others and sharing food, seems to be a seasonal imperative and is baked into our brains. We must, after all, put on a bit of weight, and gather with others to get through the long, dark, cold days ahead.

I found myself thinking about poppy seed rolls from a Ukrainian bakery I frequented in Manhattan 25 or 30 years ago. I sat up late last night pouring over recipes and determined that I simply must make a Ukrainian Poppy Seed Roll.

Now, if I do that I will have to find an event and people to share it with otherwise I would have to eat the whole thing! There is a community meal served nearby that I may just attend after all.

TURN TOWARD WISDOM

The moon begins the week in Libra, the cardinal air sign that seeks balance and pleasure. You may wake with the very best intentions ad yet as the moon forms a square aspect to Pluto at 6:14 AM ET, you may find yourself frustrated and annoyed. Whatever issue make get under your skin, don’t jump in to try to fix things. Work instead on releasing and letting go of the aggravation. It won’t be easy but the issue itself will dissolve if you leave it alone.

At 12:16 PM ET, the moon enters Scorpio bringing your emotional nature into deep areas of contemplation. The next few days will ask that you take your emotions seriously. Dig into hidden corners of your unconscious and be brutally honest with yourself about what you find there.

Mercury and Venus have both recently entered Sagittarius. At 5:54 PM ET, they join together at 6° Sagittarius. Mercury represents our thought processes and thinking capacities. Venus represents our values and ability to connect with others. As they come together our minds and hearts together turn toward humor, lightness, expansion, and wisdom.

SAGITTARIUS SEASON – EXPANDING PERSPECTIVE

At 3:20 AM ET, the Sun leaves the deep waters of Scorpio behind as we move into the Mutable Fire sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius asks us to open our vision. To look around from the highest point we can reach.

I like to think of the Centaur (half-horse/ half-human symbol of Sagittarius), pulling back its bow and releasing the arrow into the air. Imagine the perspective you would have from the very highest vantage point if you could ride that arrow into the air.

That is the perspective Sagittarius seeks. Over the coming month, you will find yourself expanding your understanding and viewpoint. If you know what house in your chart holds Sagittarius (using the whole sign house system) you know where you can anticipate this expansion.

Today’s Scorpio New Moon may bring difficulties and intensity as it tangles with both Uranus (4:25 PM) and Saturn (9:33 PM). Saturn may challenge your emotions with a sense of restriction as Uranus offers intense revelations. Make a commitment to honesty as you anticipate and welcome the unexpected.

When the Moon is in Scorpio allow your emotions to deepen. Climb into bed early with an intense lover, a deeply emotional movie, or a powerful conversation with your personal journal.

SAGITTARIUS NEW MOON – JUPITER STATIONS DIRECT

The Moon remains in emotional Scorpio before entering Sagittarius at 3:16 PM ET. Sagittarius is the mutable Fire sign. Our attention is drawn to exploration, travel, education, culture, and the development of wisdom.

At 6:02 PM ET Jupiter stations direct at 28° Pisces. This is important as Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius will support the expansive growth of the seed you plant today.

EXPRESS GRATITUDE – THANKSGIVING

On this Thanksgiving Day, I am truly grateful for each one of you who follows my work and supports me in all the ways that you do. You read my words, send encouraging emails, and support me on Patreon. You book appointments for readings and consultations and some become my students. Some of you have even become consulting astrologers yourselves! I am delighted with your involvement, regardless of its extent or duration! Thank you.

With the Moon in Sagittarius, this is a perfect day to take a road trip, gather with loved ones, and overindulge in food and drink. Experience everything as an adventure. What can you learn in conversation with your aunt that you haven’t spoken to in years? What do you have to teach others at the dinner table? Keep the mood light and friendly.

Sagittarius is the mutable Fire sign that looks for inspiration, growth, and adventure. We are more adaptable and able to shift direction at this time. The Moon’s movement through Sagittarius provides us with a sense of humor and a desire for adventure. What a wonderful time to spend with family, friends, and loved ones.

The day following a holiday often brings a letdown. The event that kept us occupied with planning and anticipating is over and few of us think to plan for the day after. You may feel restless and find yourself contemplating big life questions of meaning and significance. The meaning of life is a Sagittarius concern. We are more optimistic and philosophical under this influence. We can connect more with humor and an expansive vision of life. Sagittarius looks for the broadest perspective possible.

As tempting as it may be, please avoid shopping on Black Friday. This excuse for a shopping frenzy has always represented the darkest side of American consumerism. With the Moon forming challenging aspects to Jupiter and Neptune today, this is not the time to shop for gifts. The experience would likely be fraught with frustration, confusion, and overspending.

A far better plan is to go out to brunch with friends or have a small gathering at your home. With the Moon continuing its path through Sagittarius enjoy expansive conversations and connections.

At 4:19 PM ET, the Moon leaves optimistic Sagittarius behind and enters the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. Your attention moves toward practical considerations, solitary ambitions, and serious concerns. The prevailing mood is cautious, determined, prudent, wise, and cautious. This is a sensible hard-working sign that keeps us focused on mature efforts.

At 5:06 PM ET, the Moon leaves Capricorn entering Aquarius. When the Moon is in this fixed Air sign we find the relief of being able to put some distance between ourselves and our emotions. We are unlikely to get swallowed up with moodiness and no amount of emotional manipulation by others will control our beliefs or actions. At this time our emotions are filtered through the intellect. In order to see and understand what is truly important, we must have some distance from overwhelming sensitivities.

Spend time with people who expand your mind, vision, and perspective. Be ready to think and talk about humanitarian issues. Consider how to contribute to the vision of a better world for all sentient life on planet earth.
