The Changing Moon this Week

The Moon sets the emotional tone as she moves through the Zodiac day-to-day. It takes approximately 28 days to traverse the entire Zodiac. Learning to work with this rhythm will help you align with and relax into an easier flow with the Universe. The luminous Moon spends approximately 2 ½ days in each sign before she moves on to the next.
The week begins with the Moon in Pisces where she will remain until the wee hours of Wednesday morning. While in the Mutable Water sign of Pisces we may feel vulnerable, emotional, and inclined toward dreamy sensitivity. The tender and sometimes confusing waters of Pisces offer deep understanding and connection to that which makes us human. You will find that you are able to experience compassion and express unconditional kindness at this time.
At 5:58 AM EDT on Wednesday morning the Moon enters Aries. You may feel energized, as though you are waking from a dream when you begin the day. With the Moon in Aries we sense that there is no time to waste in moving forward. We may feel frustrated and impatient if anyone stands in our way. It is often a good idea to spend time alone in solitary physically invigorating activities. Go for a run, a hike, a bike ride.
Early Friday morning the Aries Moon forms a difficult square aspect to Pluto. Do your best to avoid power dynamics at the breakfast table, during work meetings, and ignore those rude comments on social media. This sense of aggravation will pass when the Moon changes sign.
At 4:08 PM EDT on Friday the Moon leaves the potential frustration of Aries behind and enters the cool calm realm of Taurus. Make it a point to plan a date night for Friday evening as a lovely trine aspect is formed to Mars at 5:26 PM. This will support an active connection that would be particularly lovely for dancing or making love.
The Moon remains in lovely Venus-ruled Taurus throughout the weekend coming to her Last Quarter Square at 9:16 PM EDT on Saturday. This suggests that it is time to let go of something that has provided comfort in the past but you have now outgrown. Release what is no longer necessary or no longer provides that sense of well-being you are looking for
As you plan the weekend, remember that Taurus is the most sensual sign of the zodiac. Plan to create and enjoy beautiful and comfortable environments, and yummy delicious meals. Look for simple comfort, nothing fancy. If you have a hard time settling into this comfort on Saturday, get up and try again on Sunday. It will come more easily then.

With the Moon in Pisces today you may long to escape whatever reality you need to face following the weekend. You may find that you are contemplating many unrealistic dreams regarding what you came to understand at last Friday’s Full Moon. Let yourself dream whatever dreams are naturally rising in your soul. You may find yourself in unrealistic flights of fancy. Keep in mind that those very fantasies may be guideposts leading to something real and important. Use these fantasies and dreams to search for what you have to offer the world in this time of need.

Remember, it was the humanitarian-focused Aquarius Full Moon that has led you here. You are dreaming of a better tomorrow not only for yourself but for all sentient beings residing on our beautiful fragile planet.

Your ability to feel the suffering of others and express deep compassion is strong today. Since we are still in the zone of the Full Moon, spend time in relaxation, allow your dreams to show you the way forward. Spend time near the ocean or other bodies of water, meditate, watch a long slow film, read or write poetry, listen deeply to music or make music.

Enjoy this slow passive quiet day.

As the Moon continues her path through Pisces you may still feel quite tender and sensitive. You may also feel profoundly sleepy. Go ahead and allow yourself the rest that your body and soul need. As the Moon forms a conjunction with Neptune (the ruler of the Pisces Moon) at 4:48 PM EDT, go inward. Meditate, write a poem, sing a song, allow yourself to understand the suffering of others.
Let’s talk a bit about Mercury. Mercury is the planet that represents thinking, communications, and all activities of the mind. As Mercury moves through the zodiac your attention takes on the filer of the sign it is moving through. If you know your chart (using Whole Sign Houses) you can track the planets as they move through the houses and shine through one filter (sign) after the next. This movement naturally shifts your mental attention as the cycle progresses.
At 9:11 PM EDT Mercury, having been functioning through the emotional filter of Cancer since July 11th now enters theatrical colorful Leo. Perhaps your thoughts have been focused on emotional family issues over the past few weeks. Now you can look forward to a bit more color and fun in the realm of your mind. Enjoy more playful conversation over the coming weeks. Mercury will remain in Leo until August 11th.

_The Pisces Moon is void-of-course from 9:13 PM EDT until she enters Aries tomorrow morning. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact._

In the very early morning hours, the Moon leaves the gentleness of Pisces behind and moves into assertive fast-moving Aries. The Sun entered Leo last Thursday, Mercury followed suit yesterday. The Moon meets with each of them today in a lovely supportive trine aspect. Trine aspects provide a free flow of positive energy, these aspects occur between signs of the same element. In this case, both Aries and Leo are Fire Signs.
You will probably have a great deal of energy to engage in fun projects of physical assertiveness. Get out for a bike ride, a game of soccer with friends, or go dancing in the park. Enjoy everything you can during Leo Season.
At 8:42 PM EDT Jupiter, the planet associated with good luck and expansion returns to Aquarius as part of its retrograde cycle. Retrogrades always ask that we return to find a missed step along the way.
Jupiter has been in Pisces (where it LOVES to be) since May 13, 2021. Pay attention to any themes that have expanded your spirituality, sensitivity, and soft pleasures since that time. You will revisit these themes when Jupiter returns to Pisces at the end of December 2021. On a personal level, what do you need to revisit? Did you set aside a spiritual practice, did you let go of something that was supporting and building your understanding of others?
Aside from personal considerations, remember that May was when many of the Covid19 restrictions were ended. We may well see a return to many of those restrictions.

Today brings with it some complications but first things first. The Moon continues through Aries keeping us focused on quick determination and forward motion. Remember that each sign has a planet that ‘rules’ that sign. Any activity of the planet that rules whatever sign the Moon is in, takes on extra importance. Today’s Aries Moon is ruled by Mars. Mars is the planet of the Warrior, Leader, Pioneer, and Survivor. Mars is the principle of action and strength.
At 11:50 AM EDT Mars forms an opposition to Jupiter. The timing is interesting. Jupiter backed into Aquarius yesterday (see yesterday’s post) and in less than four hours Mars will enter Virgo. At the time of this transit, each planet is at the last degree of the sign it is in. It feels as though this is some sort of a hand-off. Think about what you are grasping for.
Pay attention to the tendency to act too fast and with too little concern for others.  You may be willing to take unreasonable risks to win something that means little beyond your selfish ego desires. Do not fall into a trap of stretching reality with overblown self-confidence. If you can maintain humility as you focus on what is best for everyone involved this can be a great time to take a risk and win. The deciding factor is your level of selfishness vs humility.
This energy can be great for igniting a new sexual relationship or reigniting a long-term partnership. Again, place the importance beyond personal selfish desires and you may win big.
At 4:32 PM EDT Mars leaves dramatic open-hearted Leo behind and enters humble practical Virgo. Mars was happy in Leo, he does like the Fire signs. Virgo is an Earth sign that asks Mars to slow down. He doesn’t like that. With Mars in Virgo, you are likely to be less assertive but more productive. You will want to focus more on the details rather than the big picture of any project you are engaged with.

Don’t let yourself be triggered by power struggles at the breakfast table, on social media, or in early morning meetings. Let whatever triggers you roll off your back. Whatever it is, it will pass quickly and is not worth ruining a perfectly good day over.  The issue is a square aspect formed between the Aries Moon and Pluto at 6:44 AM EDT.

Once you have passed that hurdle the rest of the day supports accomplishment. The best projects to put this energy toward are those that are yours alone. You can get a ton done and enjoy plowing forward if you don’t have to answer to or rely on anyone but yourself.

At 4:08 PM EDT, the Moon leaves the heat of Aries behind and enters Taurus

_The Aries Moon is void-of-course from 3:37 PM EDT until she enters Taurus at 4:08 PM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact._

Saturday, July 31, 2021

The Moon remains in lovely Venus-ruled Taurus throughout the day coming to her Last Quarter Square at 9:16 PM EDT. This suggests that it is time to let go of something that has provided comfort in the past but you have now outgrown.
You probably have a pretty good idea of what this refers to. Release what is no longer necessary or no longer provides that sense of well-being it did in the past.
Remember that Taurus is the most sensual sign of the zodiac. Plan to create and enjoy beauty and comfort today. You are looking also for simplicity, when Taurus speaks of beauty and comfort it doesn’t need to be in the market for fancy opulence. Simple, even minimalistic pleasures speak to and feel the soul of Taurus. Wear your most comfortable clothes and cook yummy, delicious, and simple meals.
The Taurus Moon makes touch aspects to Saturn at 12:48 PM and Uranus at 9:34 PM. This is likely to throw a bit of a curveball into an otherwise pleasant day. Remember that these are simple fast-moving Moon transits that will pass if we let them. Keep the day as uncomplicated as possible and you’ll be able to avoid the stress.

Sunday, August 1, 2021

The Moon is still in sensual, pleasure-seeking Taurus as we come to the end of the week. She takes a back seat to the more pronounced transits that come into focus today.
At 10:07 AM EDT, the Sun and Mercury conjunct at 10 degrees Leo. If you have personal planets between 9 – 11 degrees of Leo you will long to brightly shine your Leo light. Get your friends to head out for an early afternoon picnic. Shine your light.
As the day progresses we come to Mercury opposing Saturn at 5:49 PM EDT. Conversations will become more somber as the day passes. This transit suggests the importance of engaging in meaningful and necessary conversations. This is not an evening for frivolity. Don’t avoid conversations, but don’t try to keep them light and airy. You may learn a lot from others and convey information that makes a big difference in their lives.
If you don’t have folks you can engage in serious banter about important topics, spend the late afternoon/ evening alone. Read, study, write. Keep your own counsel.

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
