A Long-Awaited Move

All my life I have wanted to live on the coast of Maine. My mother, having spent her childhood on Cape Cod, missed the ocean terribly and regretted not living on the coast as an adult. I remember her love of seagulls and the sparkle in her eyes anytime we were at the ocean. It seemed to me that the ocean was a source of solace to her and I have always felt sad that she never got back to living on its shores.

Perhaps I am making this move partly for her. For the past 20 years, I have talked about my desire to live on the coast. With the years passing so quickly I don’t want to have any regrets. Therefore, here I go! I know it is now or never.

The apartment here in Franklin County, Vermont is almost completely packed up. I’m not sure how I could have done it without my friend Alora’s help. If you are reading this, thank you, Alora.

The only thing left to do is write this blog, pack the truck on Saturday morning and make the drive. Kairos the kitten will accompany me in his kitty playpen in the back of my RAV4. There will be three vehicles caravaning to the coast. I intend to make the entire adventure fun and a time to remember for all of us!

To those of you who dropped me a note to wish me luck, thank you! I appreciate the good wishes and support. This week’s post may be a bit stripped down and briefer than normal. Thank you for your patience as I get back up to speed in the coming weeks!

Mundane Astrology vs Natal Astrology

Tracking the movement of the planetary bodies and how these movements impact large groups of people, countries, and cultures is called Mundane Astrology. In using Mundane astrology in this way, the considerations are quite general as we are watching the influence on large numbers of people rather than individual impact. This branch of astrology provides a way to connect with the public on a daily basis which is why you see so much of it on social media.
I find Mundane astrology fascinating and it is an integral tool of my craft. However, my true love is Natal astrology which is the study and exploration of an individual’s birth chart. Natal astrology is intensely personal as it reflects the unique life and path of each individual. Natal astrology does not lend itself so easily to daily posts directed to the general public.

Before your alarm goes off this morning the Moon moves into the serious sign of Capricorn. Over the next few days, your considerations will be more practical, prudent, and ambitious.

Capricorn is the cardinal earth sign, ruled by Saturn and represented by the solitary mountain goat. This is a sensible hard-working sign that asks that you focus on your personal ambitions, mature efforts, and hard work.

While the Moon is in Capricorn you are not interested in lighthearted issues or play. You will do whatever is necessary to avoid drama or emotional outbursts. Today’s Full Moon occurs at 21 degrees of Capricorn and is exact at 2:37 PM ET. Adjust the time for your time zone. Each Full Moon brings us to a time of illumination, a time of celebration as we reach the pinnacle of the cycle that began six months ago and the shorter cycle that began two weeks ago.

Think of the Full Moon as the coming together of two cycles and consider the awareness that connects the two. In the monthly lunar cycle, this is the illumination of what began two weeks ago at the Cancer New Moon on June 28th. Regarding the larger cycle, this brings us to a point of awareness from the Capricorn New Moon on January 2, 2022.

The Moon continues through Capricorn the rest of today. Your emotional focus is on practical issues, goals, and necessary plans. With the Moon in this Cardinal Earth sign, pay attention to your personal responsibilities and the practical future you want to create. Capricorn is a sensible hard-working sign that helps you focus on solitary ambition and mature efforts. This is not a time for playfulness or drama. Keep to the point and keep it serious.

At 12:27 AM ET, Venus forms a trine aspect to Saturn. Pay attention and notice the things in your relationships and finances that are working well. Capitalize on what is working rather than considering new steps forward. This suggests a very productive day with positive results from actions taken You can fulfill your own expectations and those of others.

At 8:57 PM ET, Mercury forms a sextile aspect to Neptune. This is a great evening to engage with your creativity, your intuition, or simply relax with a glass of wine and a good movie.

In the wee hours of the morning, the Moon leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius. With the Moon now in the Fixed Air sign, all emotions are filtered through the intellect. Your mood is will be informed by ideas, exciting and/or anxiety-filled flashes of thoughts and ideas.

When the Moon is in Aquarius we have the gift of distance from our emotions. We won’t get swallowed up with moodiness or allow the emotions of others to control our actions. We have distance enough from our emotions to see what is important.

Also, while you slept Venus formed a challenging square aspect to Neptune. You will feel this transit for a day or two but it will not have much long-lasting influence. However, while it lasts you can expect to feel more emotional than usual. You may be tempted to make emotional decisions based on inaccurate or missing information. It is best to avoid making important decisions regarding finances or relationships over the next few days. Things are not always as they appear to be under this influence.

On a more positive note, this can be a great time for artistic endeavors and spiritual practices. Inspiration, imagination, and intuition are likely heightened.

The weekend approaches with the Moon moving through the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius. This brings your attention to intellectual and abstract issues. The Aquarius Moon asks us to set aside personal emotions to care for humans on a larger scale. It is time to pay attention to the progress being made on environmental, technological, and humanitarian fronts.

When the Moon is in this cool friendly sign, spend time with people who open your thinking to new intellectual ideas and perspectives. Aquarius is the sign of the visionary and the reformer. Be ready to think and talk about big ideas on how to contribute to the vision of a better world for all sentient life on planet earth.

As the Moon Passes through Aquarius it encounters difficult conversations with both Uranus and Saturn. There is a lot to consider in the profound changes that are occurring in our world and culture at this time in history. These issues will likely hold your attention today.

Look for new ideas that fascinate and intrigue you. Follow your curiosity as you look for ways to make a difference in the world around you. Open your mind beyond the filters that usually contain your thinking.

The Moon is in the mutable Water sign of Pisces by the time you begin the day. It is always nice to be able to take a lazy restful day when the Moon is in Pisces. This is a great time to lay in the sunshine, drift on a body of water, and rest. As the Moon passes through Pisces we encounter a deeper than usual level of emotional sensitivity. This may feel delightful as you drift on waves of personal sensitivity or it may feel overwhelming as you struggle to keep your head above water. Allow yourself to drift and dream!

While the Moon is in this sensitive and insightful sign, you can encounter profound insights about yourself and others. If you find your emotions hard to manage meditation, walking in nature, yoga or qi gong will help. Music, poetry, and creating art are also helpful when the Moon is in Pisces.

At 3:37 PM ET, the Sun makes its superior conjunction to Mercury. This means that we are halfway through the direct phase of Mercury. Did you begin a conversation or an intellectual mental project during Mercury’s inferior conjunction to the Sun on May 21st? Mercury was retrograde at that time. Whatever thoughts were on your mind then, you will reach a conclusion or gain clarity about that now.

When the Sun and Mercury come together there is a powerful focus on your thought processes and communication. You are able to think quickly and with great alertness and agility. Anticipate an increase in your interactions with others.

Go ahead and daydream.

During this time you may find that you are more affectionate and in more need of emotional security than usual. This is a good time to connect with memories of the past and possibly reconnect with estranged family members. and your home.

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. The aspects under consideration are conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions. The planets I work with are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
