Good morning to all!

Cold water in the Bay

As we move into February, I have been thinking about this time of year here in a Northern climate. I know many people struggle with these winter months, and this should be taken seriously. Sunshine boosts our mood considerably and with so little of it, many folks slide into the winter blues.

Overcome the Winter Blues

Exercise

Bundle up for a walk, utilize the exercise bike in the corner gathering dust, or get yourself to the gym. Exercise is a powerful mood booster.

Get Outdoors

For the majority of us, both exercise and time spent in nature will boost our mood more than any antidepressant. Find the intense beauty in the sparseness of the season.  Bring a thermos of hot tea and a snack.

Light therapy

Turn your face to the sun and soak up any of those bright rays that you can find. If you need more than what is available, there are light boxes to treat Seasonal Effective Disorders that are of great help to many. Light supports mental and emotional health.

Get enough vitamin D

vitamin D is linked to heightened emotional health and clearer thinking. Since we get vitamin D from the sun we may need a supplement when the sunshine is limited. Increasing your intake and absorption of vitamin D can help.

Eat healthy foods and get as much sleep as possible

What you eat, how often you eat, and the amount and quality of your sleep profoundly impact your state of mind. The role of food in mental and emotional health. The role of sleep in mental and emotional sleep.

Stimulate your senses and Nurture your spirit

Slow down with a good book, write in your journal, and learn to write haikus. On the other hand, do something wildly creative or unexpected. Paint a wall in your home a bright color, and take up a new creative project.

Engage in less social media and more great movies

There are so many great movies available that can feed your mind and your spirit. Social media has become a space where we all end up judging our own lives against the lives that others present. This is not helpful, especially when we are already struggling with the blues as we await Spring.

Since the Winter Solstice (December 21) we have gained 30 minutes of daylight!

YOU MAY BE SURPRISED

Monday, January 30, 2023

The Moon entered Gemini while you slept (3:34 AM ET). With the Moon in Gemini, stimulating conversations and mental gymnastics will intrigue you.

Intellectual engagement will help to stabilize your emotions with the Moon in this quick-moving mutable air sign. Without mental stimulation, you may become irritable or anxious, so keep your mind occupied in a light-hearted manner.

Your relationships with others will focus on friendliness and ease of engagement. Your mind moves quickly as you juggle many ideas and thoughts. Conversations will progress with speed and everyone seems more witty than usual.

Listen to what others say. They may speak more freely than usual and you may be surprised at what you hear and come to understand.

LET IDEAS TAKE OVER

Tuesday, January 31, 2023

The Moon continues through light-hearted, talkative Gemini today. Your mind is busy and you want to explore and share ideas and conversations with others.

You may feel happy-go-lucky, light-hearted, and curious about everything. You will go out of your way to share and listen to information, stories, perspectives, and ideas. It is important to use your intellect and your voice.

Deep conversations are not part of the plan! You prefer to stay on a surface level. Emotions are kept at arm’s length and you may want to run for the hills if pushed toward deep or emotional topics.

If you are feeling anxious or restless start up a conversation and let your ideas take over.

STAY IN THE HERE AND NOW

Wednesday, February 1, 2023

The day begins with the Moon still moving through Gemini. Your busy mind holds the key to your emotions. Mental stimulation will prevent the doldrums as well as irritability and anxiety at this time. Keep your mind occupied with a variety of light-hearted communications and projects.

At 3:12 PM ET, sensitivity comes to the forefront as the Moon enters its home sign of Cancer. Intuition comes back online and you can more readily trust your gut instincts. Focus your attention on showing love, kindness, and protection to those in your environment.

You may find yourself feeling sad or nostalgic about the past when the Moon is in this cardinal water sign. If it feels tender and bittersweet go ahead and spend some time there. If it turns painful, turn your focus to whoever is right in front of you. You may long for the past or for family members that are no longer available but engage love and kindness to those who are.

Hunker down with those you love, and focus on kindness, family, and domestic issues.

PROTECTIVE AND SENSITIVE

Thursday, February 2, 2023

Today is a quiet day with the Moon continuing through the cardinal water sign of Cancer. The Moon rules Cancer so is very much at home here.

When the Moon is in Cancer sensitivity and moodiness are heightened. Our protective instincts are heightened as well.

When the Moon is in Cancer comfort food, nostalgia, and family members have a strong pull on your emotions. You may want to retreat to a place with the people you feel most at home with. Go ahead and indulge in whatever comfort foods soothe you.

Everything the day has to offer will be better if you are in the company of your closest loved ones and family members. Your best bet is to focus on domestic activities, deep motivations, and connections with close family and intimate friends.

THE LANDSCAPE MAY CHANGE QUICKLY

Friday, February 3, 2023

Having been in Cancer since Wednesday afternoon the Moon remains in this cardinal water sign as we move toward the weekend. The past few days have provided us with an abundance of tender emotions and moodiness.

When the Moon is in Cancer, vulnerability may be activated and it is easy to become defensive if old buttons are pushed. Practice patience and loving-kindness toward others and indulge in what brings comfort today.

As the day moves toward evening you will feel the Sun’s engagement with Uranus as a square aspect is formed at 9:50 PM ET. This may feel like anxiety, excitement, or a combination of the two. There is a feeling of tension in the air as unpredictable, abrupt, change feels imminent.

A desire for freedom may rise quickly and you are tempted to take action without appropriate forethought. You may feel that someone or something is restricting you or limiting your ability to be your most authentic self. Do not try to restrict or control others, allow everyone the benefit of the doubt. Believe what they show you to be true about themselves. Pay attention as the landscape and relationships can change rapidly.

PAY ATTENTION

Saturday, February 4, 2023

In the wee hours of the morning, the Moon left tender Cancer behind and rolled into the Sun-ruled sign of Leo. With the Moon in Leo, we are ready to meet the weekend with confidence, enthusiasm, and a simple desire for playful self-expression. The Leo Moon offers romance, play, and creativity. This is the time to step onto the stage of your life with confidence. Show up and express all that is special and unique within you. This is a day to shower your friends, loved ones, and yourself with warmth and generosity. Remember that Leo loves gifts! Don’t scrimp today, give with an open hand and open heart.

At 10:28 PM ET, Venus forms a challenging square aspect to Mars. Venus’s transits are brief influences, lasting approximately one or two days. This may heat up your emotions and create interactions with others that are quite intense. You know what you want and are willing to go into battle if your desires clash with others. This transit suggests a time of great passion. Small annoyances and small crushes may become equally overblown. Watch the tendency to overreact. You may find yourself defending against an enemy that isn’t even there. Pay attention.

LEO FULL MOON – EXPRESS FULLY

Sunday, February 5, 2023

At 1:29 PM ET, the Full Moon occurs at 16° of Leo (adjust for your time zone). Each Full Moon brings us to a time of illumination, a celebration as we reach the pinnacle of the lunar cycle.

Both the cycle that began six months ago and the shorter cycle that started two weeks ago are in full view. In the monthly lunar cycle, this is the illumination of what began two weeks ago at the Aquarius New Moon on January 21st. What metaphorical seed did you plant at that time? For the larger cycle, this brings us to the point of awareness from the Leo New Moon on July 28, 2022. Consider the seed you planted at that time as well. These two cycles come together now. Consider the connection between those two periods in your own life.

With this Full Moon being in Leo look for ways to express drama and playful creativity. Whatever your experience at this time, you want to share it with others expressively.

Full moons can also feel disruptive and folks may express more erratic behavior than usual. You may feel anxious or exhausted. Research shows that we sleep less on the Full Moon, so don’t neglect your self-care routines.

Jennie and I will make a video about this Full Moon. If you receive this newsletter in your email you will get the Leo Full Moon video delivered directly.

Water & Reflections

In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. The aspects under consideration are conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions. The planets I work with are the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
