“We use astrology most constructively and creatively when we gain from it a sense of what is possible for us at the highest levels of our potentialities. Seeing that, the challenges is then to keep our eyes open to life itself, to be able to respond appropriately when some event or change of circumstances…”
~ Dane Rudhyar, Astrological Aspects – a Process Oriented Approach

HOLD YOUR LOVED ONES CLOSE
Monday, December 4, 2017:
This week begins with the Moon in rational, talkative Gemini. With early morning positive aspects to excitable Uranus and impulsive Mars, you can anticipate an active day.
By early afternoon, the emotional Moon begins talking with both authoritative Saturn and logical Mercury, reminding you that it is your responsibility to deal with the hard wall that you have probably hit over the past few days.
Mercury just turned retrograde and joined with restrictive Saturn, just as Saturn is about to make a major move into rigid, serious Capricorn on December 20th. Our lives
are about to get serious in a whole new way. Each of us will need to look clearly at our own issues of responsibility, maturity, and duty. The heavy hand of reality is demanding its due over the coming months. The best thing for each of us is to take responsibility for our actions and approach each situation and circumstance in our lives with the very highest integrity even as we keep our hearts open to love.
At 3:36 PM EST, with the Moon entering Cancer, there can be a tendency to feel the need to protect oneself. Vulnerability can be scary. Don’t let it stop you from opening your heart and holding your loved ones and your family close.
The Gemini Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 2:12 PM EST until she enters Cancer at 3:36 PM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.
SWEETNESS GIVES WAY TO POWER DYNAMICS
Tuesday, December 5, 2017:
Tuesday brings powerful connections allowing deep emotional states of expanded awareness. In the morning hours, the sensitive Cancer Moon forms a lovely, flowing Grand Water Trine to dreamy Neptune (in Pisces) and expansive Jupiter (in Scorpio). You may step into the day with big, dreamy emotions. Allow love and connection, nurturing and kindness to rule the day.
Either go to bed early or pay careful attention to the power dynamics within your family to avoid the struggles that may crop up as the moody Cancer Moon opposes subversive Pluto at 8:06 PM EST.
The sweetness of the early part of the day will be difficult to hold onto.
EXPLORE FUTURE SELF-DETERMINATION
Wednesday, December 6, 2017:
Wednesday begins with your attention clearly directed to the challenging wall that seems to stand in the way between you and what you are seeking to accomplish. Do not try to tear that wall down or scrape your knees trying to climb over it. Take the Universe’s direction to slow down.
Remember, Mercury is retrograde until December 22nd and Saturn is about to enter serious, authoritative Capricorn. You must take full responsibility, speak directly with integrity, and accept the fact that this particular wall cannot be scaled at this time.
A “No” today is not a “No” forever. Something needs to be learned or improved before you can move forward. Settle into the acceptance of reality.
At 3:37 PM EST, the Moon enters expressive Leo, moving you to release the sensitivity of the past few days. Work on being expressive without overdramatizing the issues you are dealing with.
At 4:20 PM EST, impulsive Mars forms a supportive sextile aspect to level-headed Saturn. The cycle between Mars and Saturn began in August of 2016 and is a cycle of stabilizing your assertive or sexual energies. What began in this vein at that time? Now, you will want to begin exploring ways to release that cycle in order to start a new level of stabilizing energy and sexuality in April of 2018. Begin to explore ways you may want to reestablish self-determination, independence, and sexuality.
The Cancer Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 12:55 PM EST until she enters Leo at 3:37 PM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.
SEEK PLEASURE AND JOY
Thursday, December 7, 2017:
Thursday and Friday look like the best days in an overall challenging week. Obviously, we are still being impacted by Mercury’s retrograde motion impacting Mercury’s rocky relationship with Saturn. However, on Thursday and Friday, try to take any challenges with a grain of salt.
With the Moon in Leo, you can treat yourself to expressive creative pursuits and make fun and joy a priority. If there are children in your life, take a page from their playbook! Get in touch with playful pleasures.
Don’t hold back, express boldness as you seek simple joy. Engage in the love and romance, showing large bold gestures of passion and play. Take yourself to a show or better yet, go dancing. Enjoy the hell out of this day. You need it.
SUPPORT, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND KINDNESS
Friday, December 8, 2017:
Friday brings us to another day of focus on creativity, pleasure, and fun. The vital Leo Moon makes lovely aspects to eccentric Uranus, communicative Mercury, level-headed Saturn, and assertive Mars. This brings excitement, conversations, stabilization, and initiative to your generosity and creativity. Think about what you can do with that! 🙂
At 6:09 PM EST, the Moon leaves flashy Leo behind to enter meticulous Virgo, bringing your attention to issues of dedication, service and kindness toward others. Early in the day, it may seem a good idea to gather with friends for a night on the town. However, by the time Friday evening comes around, you are unlikely to be in the mood to do so.
This would be a better evening to cook a healthy meal for friends who needs support. You are able to offer a level of practical kindness, words of encouragement, and down to earth coaching. The exciting night-on-the-town will have to wait.
The Leo Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 5:41 PM EST until she enters Virgo at 6:09 PM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.
RELEASE ALL VESTIGES OF SHAME
Saturday, December 9, 2017:
Friday is a significant day as Mars leaves the cooperative sign of Libra (3:59 AM EST) behind to enter the intensely transformative sign of Scorpio. Mars, the planet of assertiveness, aggression, and directive sexuality, has been in Libra since October 22nd.
Keep your eye on how the #MeToo issue continues to unfold in personal lives and in the culture at large. The interest in compromise loses its roots as Mars goes directly for passion, desire, and its brand of truth.
With Jupiter also advancing through Scorpio, this story continues forward even as it morphs and changes. If you have a #MeToo story… take the time to tell it, if only to yourself. It does not need to be a public telling but give that story the light of day within your own heart. Shed any shame you have carried as it is so abundantly clear that you are in good company as nearly all women share such a story.
The Moon is in Virgo throughout the day allowing for a Saturday perfect for catching up on chores and home puttering. My favorite!
UNEXPECTED NEWS
Sunday, December 10, 2017:
As the Moon moves through Virgo, she reaches her Last Quarter phase, imbuing us with restlessness and the need for change.
On a lighter note, Mercury, the planet of communication and thought, forms a flowing trine aspect to progressive Uranus. This may bring sudden epiphanies along with exciting and unexpected news. Pay attention to strokes of genius that seem ‘out of the blue’. Do keep in mind that Mercury is retrograde; set those new, innovative ideas aside to be put into action at the start of 2018.
At 8:47 AM EST, Venus, the planet of love and beauty, forms a challenging square aspect to imaginative Neptune, bringing a push toward inspiration for visionaries and artists.
Any difficulties that arise later in the day have their roots in the past rather than in current time. Don’t jump to conclusions or make judgments on the behaviors of those around you, you are likely missing a crucial piece of the puzzle.
You will be best served by sticking close to home working on the development of orderly and meticulous routines. A great day to make that gingerbread house. 🙂
A restless Last Quarter Virgo Moon can rob some folks of a good night’s sleep. Mixed messages from the heavens continue into the morning.
On a brighter note, Mercury’s trine to Uranus may be a stunning source of enlightenment, or a stroke of genius. Venus’ square to Neptune inspires artists, spiritualists, and other visionaries but it can also be a harbinger of heartache. After noon and long into the night, the Moon faces challenging alignments with retrograde Mercury and Saturn. Disturbing issues may reflect the past rather than the present. Fears and worries can be exaggerated. Contemplation is rewarded with fresh understanding of long-ago happenings. Be sure to think twice before making a judgment or reaching conclusions.
The Virgo Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 10:03 PM EST until midnight when she enters Libra. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

* In these weekly reports, I am exploring the major aspects formed by transits between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.
* The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
* The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
