Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: December 21, 2015 through December 27, 2015
Winter Solstice – December 21st: As we begin Winter, the Light of the Sun Returns
December 21, 2015 marks the Winter Solstice. This is officially the beginning of Winter and the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
On this day, from our perspective, it seems that the Sun stands still in the skies. Here at the darkest, shortest day of the year, we celebrate the return of the light. As we move forward, into the heart of Winter, the days become colder and yet the light begins to grow, representing new hope, new light, and new life!
All the holiday traditions that we celebrate, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year’s, all have roots in the Winter Solstice celebrations of the past. We continue to enjoy winter festivals to celebrate the return of the Sun with feasts, time spent with loved ones, singing, and dancing.
Astrologically, the Winter Solstice marks the moment the Sun moves from the exciting Fire sign of Sagittarius into the serious, steadfast Earth sign of Capricorn. At this time, it is necessary that we engage in both celebration and deep internal reflection.
As the Sun moves into steadfast Capricorn, we take the opportunity to look back over the past year. We contemplate our successes and our missteps.
No matter how festive your holiday celebration, please take time for deep contemplation. This will help you to start 2016 with a clean slate and be ready to start anew.

WINTER SOLSTICE: CELEBRATE THE RETURN OF THE LIGHT
Monday, December 21, 2015:
The week begins with the Moon in Taurus offering us a stable foundation to begin the new cycle that is represented by the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice occurs at 11:47 PM EST as the Sun leaves the fun exploration of Sagittarius behind to enter the stable, serious realm of Capricorn.
This is the shortest day of the year and the longest night. At this time, our Sun seems to stand still and turn back toward the light. As we head into deep, cold winter, in the Northern Hemisphere, our days grow colder, even as moment by moment, they grow longer.
Pay attention as each day brings us a few more moments of light.
Celebrate the return of light!
SELF CARE
Tuesday, December 22, 2015:
The Moon is in Taurus on Tuesday; seek peace and beauty in the midst of these hectic days of preparation. At 9:27 AM EST, the Moon is VOC* until she enters Gemini at 9:31 PM EST. While the Moon is VOC*, it is best to focus on routine tasks rather than trying to accomplish more significant projects.
If you don’t have routine tasks that are calling to you or your focus continues to slip, simply do not worry about it. Take a day of self-care and rest. It will be much easier to get what you need to get done if you simply rest on Tuesday and focus on what needs doing on Wednesday. For Tuesday, give it a rest. Take a hot bath, enjoy a glass of wine, read a long slow novel. Self care is likely what you need more than anything.
Show the Universe that you love yourself enough to pay attention to your needs. Self care is so much more important than we think.
UNDERSTANDING AND ACCEPTANCE
Wednesday, December 23, 2015:
I hope you avoided the frustration of trying to accomplish much on Tuesday. If you were able to rest, do routine tasks, and spend the day on self-care, you will be amazed at how much you can get done on Wednesday.
Many of you reading this are busy (and perhaps a bit frantic) preparing for the upcoming holiday of gift giving. This can be an extremely stressful time with much activity and hurried preparation.
Wednesday and Thursday provide an opportunity to get all necessary activities done in a short period time. Keep in mind that the most important activities over the next few days involve socializing and enjoying friends, family, and neighbors.
The Gemini Moon encourages day trips, conversations, and much activity. Midafternoon may require a bit of time alone if you notice yourself being less understanding of others or less resilient yourself. That discomfort will pass and the evening should be fine as you welcome, and offer, new perspectives.
Understanding and acceptance is an important element as we gather with family. Give acceptance, even if you don’t understand. It is not always our job to understand those we love; it is our job to accept.
HAPPY HOLIDAY-EVE
Thursday, December 24, 2015:
Thursday starts with joy and pleasure as we reach towards the Full Moon which falls on Christmas Day. Thursday brings a delightful sextile between Venus and Jupiter.
If you are celebrating this holiday with giving gifts, I hope you have completed your shopping by now. Ideally, you will spend this beautiful energy (Venus sextile Jupiter) connecting with loved ones.
If you find yourself still shopping, watch for serious overspending. You really don’t need to buy that expensive gift to show your love. Your very presence in the life of your loved ones is the most valued gift you have.
Leave all greed, expectations, and past hurts behind.
HAPPY HOLIDAY!
Friday, December 25, 2015:
On Friday, Christmas Day, we enjoy the illumination of the Cancer Full Moon at 6:12 AM EST. The day begins with the Moon entering Cancer, the sign of family security and nostalgia.
Many folks will be lost in memories of past holiday celebrations, past love, and long gone family members. Go ahead and indulge in those old holiday movies.
Mid afternoon, Mercury forms a trine aspect with Jupiter asking us to express words of love, hope, and acceptance. Expand your perspectives to include everyone at the table.
Friday night at 10:52 PM, Uranus turns direct, having been retrograde since late July 2015. Over the coming days, watch the areas in the culture and in yourself, where the Spirit of revolution comes alive. Where in your life do you see the need to speak the truth regardless of its popularity?
If you are spending several days with family, you can expect a bit of upheaval in the form of excitement or stress. What issues have been kept under wraps but are ready now to come out of the proverbial closet? Over the coming days, secrets will be revealed, surprises will occur.
Choose excitement over stress, acceptance over denial.
BIOLOGICAL OR CHOSEN; THIS IS YOUR FAMILY
Saturday, December 26, 2015:
If something is revealed on Friday that adds an element of surprise, excitement, devastation, or shock to the family dynamics, Saturday will be an active day of working from a place of being stuck to a place of understanding.
The day may begin with the most difficult conversations necessary. By the end of the day, with the proper effort, there can be great acceptance and support. Internal and external peace can be found.
Regardless of whether this is your chosen family or the family you were born into… this is Your Family. Show love, discover full acceptance, and move out of your own way, if and where necessary.
EXPRESS WARMTH
Sunday, December 27, 2015:
Let’s wrap up all the pleasure of a holiday weekend into Sunday.
At 5:30 AM EST, the Moon leaves the emotional sign of Cancer behind to enter Leo. Now, we will be able to set aside emotional sensitivity and turmoil in exchange for openhearted generosity and fun!
With the Moon in the generous, dramatic, and fun-loving sign of Leo, you need to express your deepest desires. You feel the pull toward an approach to your life from a place of passion and creative expression. On an emotional level, this is a day for warmth, generosity, and powerful self-confidence. Enjoy this one!

* In these weekly reports, I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.
* The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
* The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
