Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: August 4, 2014 through August 10, 2014

Boys in a Dory by Winslow Homer

I apologize again for missed the post last week. I am healthy now and back to work!

Although I must admit this is not an easy week for me to work. The first full week of August is my favorite week of the year!

I generally take vacation this week but this year is different in many ways!

I still intend to love every day of this week (including my birthday on Friday!), but have decided to stay close to home.

We are just about exactly halfway through 2014. For many of us this has been a very challenging year. The good news is that we’ve been through the hardest part of 2014.

This week is relatively uneventful and that is great news! I would say that Saturday, August 9 will probably line up to be the most challenging day of the week and yet if you pay attention and work with it well, it can be highly advantageous.

Monday, August 4, 2014:

The week begins with the Scorpio Moon conjunct Saturn. There’s certainly a serious edge to this day. This is not the day for excitement, playfulness, or fun times at the beach. You may wake up feeling the pressure of the world on your shoulders; don’t hold on to that feeling, simply let it pass.

At 1:43 PM EDT the Scorpio Moon trine Venus in Cancer. Following this aspect the moon is VOC* until tomorrow morning when she will enter Sagittarius. The trine aspect between the Moon and Venus reflects an easier emotional state throughout the afternoon.

Whatever you do on Monday afternoon will not have much outer impact so there is no need to worry about productivity or making any sort of an impression on anyone!

If you must work Focus on getting your most mundane, routine tasks accomplished. Better yet, take the afternoon off; spend time at the beach, sit on a park bench, read a novel, find the perfect place for people watching; to me that is the best use of a VOC* Moon! People intrigue me and I never tire of spending time in public places watching them. I learned a practice from Pema Chodron that I use often.

Try it; go to a public place and as you watch others notice your judgments. When you notice judgment toward another, take a breath, open your heart and repeat silently to yourself “she/he wants to be happy, just like me”.

Alternate that statement with another “she/he does not want to suffer, Just like me”. You will be surprised at what a powerful exercise this is. Work with it, it will soften your heart toward others and bring your awareness to the similarities of all humans. It is what I will be doing Monday afternoon on Church Street in Burlington, Vermont.

Tuesday, August 5, 2014:

Tuesday we are delighted to wake up to the Sagittarius Moon. The Moon enters Sagittarius at 6:19 AM EDT and makes a beautiful trine aspect to Jupiter at 2:17 PM EDT. This should be a great afternoon to plan a vacation or even to pack your bags for a spontaneous get-away! There is truly nothing holding you back from opening to the possibilities you see before you. If you are not seeing those possibilities clearly spend some time clearly the cobwebs from your mind. Possibilities abound! Keep the idea of spontaneity with you today. If at all possible, arrange your day so that you have no restrictions on your time or direction. Your freedom is very important as is your desire to explore new ideas and directions. Allow yourself to say YES to pleasures offered.

Wednesday, August 6, 2014:

Wednesday has another very long VOC* Moon, this time in Sagittarius. However, before we get there, the morning is highly productive, highly engaging, and potentially exciting! We may feel fired up and ready to take action. At 10:51 AM EDT following a Trine to Uranus, the Moon is VOC* until she enters Capricorn tomorrow morning. So, Wednesday’s VOC* Moon holds the excitement of Fire and the intensity and buzz of Uranus.

The lazy hot summer afternoon at the beach or in the park is certainly called for! The evening is made for socializing; get out and enjoy time with friends!

If you missed Monday’s post take a moment to go back and read it. I offered a practice that I learned from Pema Chodron that I think is particularly powerful on a VOC* Moon.

A Basket of Clams by Winslow HomerThursday, August 7, 2014:

Thursday begins with the Moon still VOC* in Sagittarius. Anticipate a slow start on the day. At 8:12 AM EDT Mars trine Neptune. If you keep a journal check back to February 4, 2013, Give or take a day! At that time Mars and Neptune came together, beginning the current cycle between them. Consider the energy of Mars and of Neptune, and of how the energy between them would feel. Mars is the energy of action and aggression; Neptune is the energy of illusion and imagination. Together they can provide you with an opportunity to see strength as an allusion, to put your ideals into action; they may feed the more masculine side of charisma, and sexual fantasy. Today the cycle between them offers a free flow of energy. You can act on your most mystical ideals, express masculine charisma, indulge in sexual fantasies, or see the illusion behind the curtain of power. Pay attention.

The Moon enters Capricorn at 9:38 AM EDT bringing a serious edge to the next few days.

With the Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter all in Leo a little seriousness may be useful.

Friday, August 8, 2014:

Friday will be an interesting day indeed! And it’s my birthday! Anyone who makes an appointment today gets 20% discount as my birthday gift to YOU!

As the Moon moves through Capricorn on Friday she bumps into Pluto and Uranus. You can expect an underlying emotional heaviness.

However, at 12:20 PM EDT the Sun conjunct Mercury in Leo; shortly after that they both trine Uranus! In many ways this will override the unhappy Capricorn moon! Do not hold back, allow yourself to be moved in a new direction of joy and full expression!

Use this excitement as a wake up call to Joy! Find the excitement and enthusiasm and prepare to fly!

By nightfall you will know that you must pay attention to the deeper seriousness of the week as Mercury square Saturn at 10:49 PM EDT our thoughts turn inward to responsibility and effort.

It is on days like this that you can learn to balance the dichotomy of playfulness alongside seriousness.

Think back to October/November 2013. Was there a serious conversation, pressing responsibility, or significant study that you are now ready to let go of? The excitement of Mercury and Sun trine Uranus will allow you to release the story you were telling yourself during that October/ November time frame.

Saturday August 9, 2014:

The weekend begins with a brief VOC* Capricorn Moon that concludes as she enters Aquarius at 9:52 AM EDT.

At 11:10 AM EDT the Leo Sun squares Saturn. This is deeply connected with Fridays Mercury square Saturn. Again the story of the cycle brings us back to November 2013. Now we see clearly that it was not simply a serious conversation that began then; consider something deeper. What was the core stabilization of your life? In May 2014 the full weight of that responsibility, and possibly your dependence on the stabilization became clear. Now with the Square between the Sun, Mercury and Saturn the time has come to begin releasing in order for a new cycle, which will begin in November 2014. Facing the situation clearly at this time will enable the full release to be more graceful in November.

If you simply have no idea of the larger view of this cycle, consider this to be a time to stabilize situations that you know you will need to let go of soon. If you can look clearly now to begin preparation, it will be easier when the time comes.

You know you were going to need to let go; begin now.

Sunday, August 10, 2014:

Oh a lovely Sunday; an entire day with the Moon in Aquarius. On the heels of the hard connections to Saturn over the past few days, Sundays Moon in Aquarius will show you how to detach from your addictions to sentimentality and moodiness. Today you can see with your eyes on the bigger canvass. Often times our emotions, our moodiness, and nostalgia has to be set aside for the good of the larger picture. Today is one of those days. Look beyond yourself, see where your emotional strength is able to be a guide for others.

Full Moon at 18° Aquarius at 2:10 PM EDT; the energy from the New Moon on Saturday, July 26th is released now. Look back at the seed you planted and see how far it has come.

The Moon goes VOC* at 6:12 PM EDT. This is a day to look for quirky friendships, unusual people, and new ideas! Share your most unusual ideas, you may be surprised at how they resonate with others!

* In these weekly reports I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to it’s VOC time, as that aspect holds it’s influence throughout the VOC*
The Aspects I consider: Conjunctions, Sextiles, Squares, Trines, and Oppositions
The Planets I am working with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
*VOC (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign. This can consist of several minutes or many hours. These periods are best handled with little expectation of accomplishment; times ideally suited for rest and contemplation.
