I reached out to Laurie in hopes of expanding my astrological understanding and exploring a professional path. I had read about her mentorship program. Being naturally skeptical and knowledgeable enough to spot a charlatan, I approached this meeting, with a grain of salt and few expectations.

Due to personal circumstances in the hours and moments before our scheduled meeting, I joined Laurie on Zoom feeling scattered and uncentered. Laurie’s presence and positive virtual welcoming immediately calmed my heightened emotions and set the tone for a very productive first meeting.

I was impressed with Laurie’s experience and communication style throughout our meeting. We explored where I was with my astrology education and what my goals were with ease.

Laurie discussed her perspective of astrology along with the systems she utilizes in her work and teaching. In our short, half-hour meeting, Laurie’s expertise was apparent. Her intuitive responses and generous sharing made our conversation flow easily.

I was further impressed with Laurie’s ability to pick up on the subtleties and energies of my horoscope. The nuances of my chart have been lost on every other astrologer I’ve met with, or at least not communicated effectively.

Laurie’s insight in the few minutes we spent looking at my natal chart convinced me further of her authenticity and skill. Our meeting ended with me feeling confident I had finally found the teacher I wanted to learn from! I can’t wait for our upcoming work together.

Please keep in mind that transits to your natal planets can override these more universal ones. A consultation will help you understand your personal circumstances.

It is so much more fun to write these posts when times are easy and there is not so much struggle in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. However, it is important to understand that we are not alone and that our voice of encouragement and love must be shared.

The Moon is in Scorpio today suggesting a depth of emotions that we must surrender into. We do not want to get sucked into pain and foreboding and we also do not want to look away. Self-love and kindness go a long way. Finding a balance is important.

Keep an eye on Mars as he is slowing down in preparation for his retrograde cycle in early September. At 2:19 PM EDT Mars forms the first of three square aspects to Saturn. This aspect (and the story it tells) will be repeated at the end of September and in mid-January 2021. The seeds of this story began in late March at the conjunction of Mars to Saturn. The square now demands attention and action. This will be reflected in your personal life as well as in the outer world. Take a decisive action this week to support the changes you want to see in your life and the world.

Mars square Saturn feels a bit like having your foot on both the gas and the breaks at the same time. It may also feel like the fear you experience as you push yourself to jump out of the plane for a skydiving adventure. You are ready to move forward but something is impeding your process. Something is holding you back. If it is personal fear that is stopping you, you can push through it. If what is holding you back is beyond your control, find another outlet for the build-up of energy and work to understand the lesson it is offering.

This is likely to be a very active and dynamic week with its share of excitement, anxiety, hope, and dread. Bring kindness and hope to all you encounter.

The Moon lightens our mood this morning as she enters expansive Sagittarius at 8:49 AM EDT. A sense of doom and gloom may give way to excitement and a tinge of anxiety as you hear unexpected, shocking, or exciting news. Mercury forms a trine aspect to Uranus at 11:17 AM EDT. The news you hear may be a harbinger to a larger shift that 2021 will herald or clarify.

The First Quarter Moon phase occurs at 1:58 PM EDT suggesting a time to take action on the seed you planted at the Leo New Moon on August 18th. Attend a meeting, make a phone call, or send an email that may start a process that is important for your personal development in the dark winter months ahead.

This evening Venus in Cancer opposes Jupiter in Capricorn. In the context of the larger culture, this may involve more awareness of what is necessary for the education of our children in these tough times. On a personal level, you may gain clarity on how your deeply held values may actually be very different from your unconscious beliefs. In clarifying the difference between them you can learn to support each through understanding and balance.

***The Scorpio Moon is void-of-course from 2:28 AM EDT until she enters Sagittarius at 8:49 AM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

ENGAGE WITH HUMOR – Wednesday, August 26, 2020

Today is the least astrologically complex and most fun day of the week. Take advantage of this through exploration, fun, understanding, and expansion of your mind. Actively engage with others in order to understand how they think. As you come to understand others you gain a great deal of clarity on yourself.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius you look for adventures that will lead to a more expansive view and a broader understanding of the life you are living. You may notice and experience the humor that abounds in your everyday life. Humor can be a great help and support in difficult times.

The Sagittarius Moon may also find you feeling wild and reckless. As with all the signs, there are two sides to Sagittarius. One side of the coin has Sagittarius seeking enlightenment and higher understanding, the other side of the coin has Sagittarius seeking party time, fun, freedom, and abandon.

You get to choose which will best support you as you manage your emotions and circumstances today.

AN EVENING OF TENDERNESS – Thursday, August 27, 2020

Today begins with the Moon still in upbeat, optimistic Sagittarius. You may feel more lighthearted than usual as you start the day.

At 1:36 PM EDT, the Moon enters Capricorn bringing a more practical tone to the afternoon. The seriousness of the Capricorn Moon will be overshadowed by an overwhelming sensitivity that grows over the course of the afternoon.

At 5:12 PM EDT, Venus trines Neptune. Your ability to see reality is weakened as the boundaries between yourself and others dissolve. You may be prone to romantic visions, fantasy, and daydreams. It may be difficult to see what is right in front of you. It will be easy to have the wool pulled over your eyes so do your best to pay attention and don’t automatically believe all that you see or hear.

The positive side of this transit is its effect on creativity, love, and romance. Your sense of compassion, empathy, love, and tenderness is heightened. You are able to engage with your loved ones on a deeper, more meaningful level.

***The Sagittarius Moon is void-of-course from 8 AM EDT until she enters Capricorn at 1:36 PM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

YOUR DEEPEST MOTIVATIONS – Friday, August 28, 2020

The sense of dreaminess and lack of boundaries from yesterday’s Venus trine Neptune will linger and color much of today. Your ability to engage in imaginative play and your compassion for others continues to be heightened.

It may be difficult to maintain boundaries and understand what is expected of you. Even with the Moon in Capricorn your capacity for serious productivity and/or clarity remains challenging throughout the day.

If you are an artist, creative writer, poet, mystic, or astrologer you can use this combination to get a great deal accomplished today. Take your dreams seriously and immerse yourself in your imagination. You are learning to understand your deepest motivations and use your intuition with practical intent.

While Mars is squaring the planets currently moving through Capricorn there will be one day each week that it is more challenging than others. During this weekly occurrence, we will learn to navigate the profound difficulties we are living through in our culture and in our personal lives.

Today is unlikely to be the fun engaging and lighthearted Saturday we would like. The Moon passes through the later part of Capricorn today joining with Pluto and Saturn as it squares Mars. Your job is to not look directly at whatever causes you discomfort, to face reality, and take action where you see integrity demands it of you. It will also be necessary to develop flexibility, kindness, and forgiveness as you learn to manage the personal issues you face as a result of the cultural issues you have no control over.

At 8:36 PM EDT, the Moon enters Aquarius moving your attention to more free-flowing progressive ideas. Pay attention to your dreams tonight, they may wake you up to something you haven’t yet seen.

***The Capricorn Moon is void-of-course from 3:30 PM EDT until she enters Aquarius at 8:36 PM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

When the Moon is in innovative humanitarian Aquarius we want to share our wild thoughts and ideas with others. We are more interested in what is happening in the collective than in our own personal world.

At 9:30 AM EDT, Venus opposes Pluto, this brings intensity and pressure to your most personal values of love, money, or other resources. You may see power dynamics, suspicion, or jealousy arise. Make sure you have clear boundaries and are not ‘power-tripping’ others. Be open and honest about your part in any difficulties that come up. Always reach for equality, trust, and kindness in your partnerships.

At 2:43 PM EDT Mercury opposes Neptune suggesting a lack of clarity and confusion in your communications. This is a great afternoon to communicate differently. Don’t try to have a practical or linear conversation. Speak poetically or in metaphors. Better yet, forget the conversation. Hold hands while watching a movie together. Listen to music and dance together in your living room. Words will only confuse matters this evening.

* In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.

The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.

The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
