Over the first few days of this week, Mercury will get up to speed and life will begin easing back to normal. This is also the final week of Mars retrograde and it will be a relief indeed when Mars turns direct next Monday morning.
Just as Thursday begins the Sun enters focused and perfectionistic Virgo. The shift of the Sun from Leo to Virgo is bittersweet indeed. While the Sun moves through Leo we tend to feel more generous and playful than usual. We want to spend the days on vacation or at least on a local beach.
Now as the Sun enters Virgo our minds turn fully in the direction sending the kids back to school, going back to school ourselves, and enjoying shorter cooler days.
This is the time to begin a new study or re-engage with one that still holds your interest even though it has been on hold for some weeks/ months.

  • Are you passionate about astrology but unsure how to begin your studies?

Monday, August 20, 2018:
Monday is a feel-good kind of day. With the Moon in Sagittarius, you probably feel generally optimistic about your life and future. The only aspect today is a trine from the joyful Sagittarius Moon to the playful Leo Sun. This occurs at 7:47 PM EDT. This should be a great evening for social interactions or simply for enjoying where ever you find yourself and with whoever you happen to be with. There are few complexities on Monday. Allow yourself to engage in simple and joyful gatherings. If you have thoughts about an upcoming trip, a party, or an imagined adventure, now (before 7:47 PM at which time the Moon becomes VOC) would be a great time to set up your plans. Set the date, book your Airbnb, confirm with your co-travelers. Thank goodness that Mercury is direct!

The Sagittarius Moon is VOC* from 7:47 PM EDT until she enters Capricorn just after midnight. When the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

Tuesday, August 21, 2018:
You may wake early on Tuesday morning with unusual, innovative, and yet solid ideas about how to move forward with your work in the world. Once the day gets into full swing it is another quiet day, much like Monday except the feeling environment is very very different. Whereas Monday’s energies encouraged thoughts of travel and adventure, on Tuesday you’re more concerned with hard work, business, and accomplishment. With the Moon in Capricorn consider the effort required to reach your desired level of accomplishment in building your career or reputation. This is a day to work deeply, with purpose, alone.
Wednesday, August 22, 2018:
Wednesday brings another day to focus on issues of work and business accomplishment as the Moon continues through hard-working Capricorn. This is a more complex day than Wednesday and you may encounter a few specific pitfalls. First, a challenging square from the Moon to Venus early in the morning leaves you feeling pulled between the need to get work done and the desire (Venus in Libra) to spend the day with your partner or in the pursuit of love or beauty. Spending the day with your lover may seem like a good idea in the morning but the Moon square Pluto at 2:46 PM EDT does not support that idea for the afternoon.
You are likely to encounter power struggles in some area. Do your best to not take the bait if someone seems to be instigating a reaction. Get out of the situation; go for a walk, by the time you return the issue most likely will have passed.
Enjoy a fun playful evening as the Sun leaves Leo to enter Virgo by the time you start the day on Thursday.

Thursday, August 23, 2018:
Shortly after midnight on Wednesday night (eastern time) the Sun enters Virgo.
Since July 22nd the Sun has been in Leo, the Fixed Fire sign that is ruled by the all-powerful super bright hot Sun. Each year as the Sun moves through Leo most of us in the Northern Hemisphere focus on spending time at the beach, having fun, and enjoying the warmth of Summer. Leo season is a flamboyant, exuberant time of year and as much as we enjoy it, most folks are somewhat relieved when the Sun enters the orderly analytical sign of Virgo. Virgo is a mutable Earth sign ruled by Mercury, the planet that represents intellect and communications. Now it is time to go back to school, take up a new study, or refocus on projects that require meticulous attention, humility, and a lack of drama. The Sun will remain in Virgo until September 22nd. While the Sun is in Virgo we are inspired to diligently work to reach our potential. The house that holds Virgo in your chart will represent the area where you will focus effort to improve yourself. The purpose of this improvement is not for selfish gain but in order to be of service to others.
At 12:56 PM EDT the Moon leaves serious hard-working Capricorn behind to move into Aquarius. Consider how you can use your growing potential to be of service not only to others individually but to the greater collective. Aquarius has the ability to see outside any boxes we may be metaphorically stuck in. Open your mind to how your productive dedication can improve the world for all.

The Capricorn Moon is VOC* from 10:19 AM EDT until she enters Aquarius at 12:56 PM EDT. When the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

Friday, August 24, 2018:
Friday brings a day with few complications as we adjust to the realities of the Sun in Virgo and the Aquarius Moon grows toward its Full phase in a few days time. As she (the Moon) grows our understanding expands. Friday is a day best suited for wild, innovative thinking and gathering with others of like mind. With the Moon in Aquarius, you will do well to seek insights and genius ideas in the company of others. Your emotions generally will not get in the way as you are able to set them aside and view your life from a more detached viewpoint. You may find yourself more interested in the plight of humanity than in your own possibly pesky emotional state. Aquarius suggests the need to march to the beat of a different drummer. Allow yourself to not only engage with others who are different from you but to express the parts of yourself that are most unique. Others will have more understanding of your quirks, and yet it will matter less to you if they do not. Enjoy time with others, engage in intellectual conversations about the state of the world, consider what you can do to help the suffering of others in the world.

For all its complexity, however, astrology remains fundamentally simple. It offers a time-honored system of symbols that sum up key aspects of human life while providing profound insights and practical guidance.” ~Anne M. Nordhaus-Bike

Saturday, August 25, 2018:
Throughout the day on Saturday, the Virgo Sun forms an Earth Grand Trine with Uranus (in Taurus) and Saturn (in Capricorn). A Grand Trine is a lovely configuration that creates a contained flow of energies. You may notice that you feel grounded and capable of what you put your attention on. What you focus on will likely be something highly unusual and yet ultimately quite practical. You will probably prefer to work alone as you experience a sense of self-containment, realizing that you will perform your best efforts on your own. Open your mind/ heart to new innovative ideas. You have the ability to bring deep practicality to wild unusual ideas, plans, and projects. If you have personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars) in the very early degrees of any Earth Sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) this will offer you a particularly powerful flow of practical wild energies.
The Moon continues through Aquarius as it prepares for full illumination with the Pisces Full Moon on Sunday. The Aquarius Moon encourages you to break out of any routines or ruts that hold you back. You can break bad habits most easily under the influence of the objective Aquarius Moon.

The Aquarius Moon is VOC* (ALL DAY) from 12:39 AM EDT until she enters Pisces at 1:32 AM EDT on Sunday morning. When the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

Sunday, August 26, 2018:
Sunday brings us to the Pisces Full Moon at 7:57 AM EDT. Think back to the New Moon Solar Eclipse of August 11th. Are you able to see how something significant has progressed over these two weeks? Do you see the significance of a seed you planted, an intention you committed to, or something that occurred at that time? If you can see the trajectory over these two weeks it will help you develop the path ahead.
The Pisces Moon will help you go with the flow and perhaps even let challenges bypass you altogether. The day may be easier altogether if you can utilize a sense of watery spaciousness. Delve into music, poetry, meditation, or other spiritual concerns. Use your imagination and take the opportunity to dream.
At 3:20 PM EDT Venus forms a difficult square aspect to Pluto. Venus represents how we form relationships, what we most deeply value, our money, love, and resources. Pluto represents destruction and transformation. How are your most personal values pushing you in the direction of change? Is it possible for deep powerful change to be an easy process or does something have to be destroyed to make space for what is new and growing in you? Watch for power struggles, hidden issues, or deep disturbances in your most personal relationships. Perhaps this would be a good day to spend the afternoon alone working on serious goals for the future. What do you want your most intimate relationship to look like? How can you become the person who can embody the changes you want to see in your close relationships and finances? You can only change yourself. Grow/ transform yourself into the person you want to be to live the life you want to live.

“We use astrology most constructively and creatively when we gain from it a sense of what is possible for us at the highest levels of our potentialities. Seeing that, the challenges is then to keep our eyes open to life itself, to be able to respond appropriately when some event or change of circumstances…”

* In these weekly reports, I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.

The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
