As the Moon moves through each zodiac she spends approximately 2 ½ days in each sign. The square aspect formed from Mars (Aries) to Pluto and Saturn (Capricorn) clearly reflects the underlying struggle of our times.

As the Moon moves through the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) we will feel and respond strongly to the issues at hand.

This suggests that one day per week will be particularly fraught with emotional challenges. Saturday holds this dubious honor this week. Knowing this enables you to prepare with flexibility, forgiveness, and kindness to yourself and those around you.

Please keep in mind that transits to your natal planets can override these more universal ones. A personal consultation offers deep understanding.

SPEAK OF GENEROUS LOVE – Monday, August 17, 2020

With yesterday’s Sun trine Mars still in effect, this week begins with Mercury (in Leo) trine Mars (in Aries). At 11:07 AM EDT, the Sun and Mercury conjoin (in Leo).

There is no point in trying to slow down words you want or need to speak today. Attach dramatic imagery and engage the magic of storytelling in order to best get your points across.

Last night while you slept the Moon entered Leo joining Mercury and the Sun in this dramatic, determined, and colorful sign. With Mercury being activated in the fixed fire sign of Leo, pay attention to the information and communications that come your way.

If you hear selfish, harmful, or hurtful words you are experiencing the immaturity of Leo in Action. If you hear generous encouragement you are seeing the mature side of Leo offering its powerful expression of Love and warmth.

Regardless of what you may hear from others, offer words of open-hearted kindness to everyone you encounter.

***The Cancer Moon is void-of-course until she enters Leo at 1:38 AM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact. I suspect you’ll be sleeping!

AN UNEXPECTED OPPORTUNITY AND THE LEO NEW MOON – Tuesday, August 18, 2020

Today’s Leo Moon offers us the opportunity to engage in childlike joy and playfulness. Living in such challenging times make sure to take advantage of what can be a lovely day.

The Leo New Moon isn’t exact until 10:41 PM. You will do best to hold off and perform your New Moon ritual tomorrow.

At 3:27 PM EDT Venus (in Cancer) forms a sextile aspect to Uranus the planet of innovation and unexpected change. If you are offered an opportunity over the next day or so that somehow embodies a changing value system, take it. Sextiles are not gifts the way trine aspects are. You must accept the opportunity that is offered. Today say yes.

LEO NEW MOON RITUAL

This is a very simple ritual but don’t let it’s simplicity obscure it’s significance and power.

First, write down what you’d like to develop over the coming month and grow over the next 6 months.

The Leo New Moon suggests an appropriate time to plant a seed of enthusiasm, generosity, and warmth. These qualities are so significant in these challenging times as we seek ways to open our hearts with love and kindness to ourselves and others.

It is time to must step forward with great generosity in the support of those we love. Plant a seed that resonates with your heart and your current circumstance. Look to the house that holds Leo for further understanding.

Have two candles available. Light the first to represent where you find yourself today. Light the second candle as inspiration for the growth you hope to see during this cycle.

As you light each candle, imagine drawing generosity and courage to yourself as you bring the two candles closer together. Do this each day for two weeks.

At the Full Moon on September 2, bring the two candles together, acknowledging your progress. Notice where your heart is expanding with generosity and open-hearted love.

The energy you infuse into this cycle will continue to grow over the next six months, where it will be fully illuminated at the Leo Full Moon on January 28, 2021.

COOLING AND SLOWING DOWN THE MIND – Wednesday, August 19, 2020

As today begins you are aware that we are moving in a more serious direction. The Leo Moon gave way to the Virgo Moon while we slept suggesting that we put fun and games aside for now.

Mercury the planet that rules thinking, communication, and intellectual processes enters Virgo at 9:29 PM EDT. Mercury is moving quickly and has only been in Leo for a few weeks. It will remain in Virgo until September 5th at which time it will enter Libra.

While Mercury is in Virgo your thinking cools down and becomes more logical. This is a good time for specific plans, goal setting, and list-making. The Sun follows Mercury into Virgo on Saturday bringing Leo Play Season to an end.

This is the time of year that children head back to school and we all start thinking about apple pies and harvests. There is so much concern right now with the opening of schools. My heart goes out to all parents and children caught in this mess.

Contact me for a consultation to discuss how this change of season and these wild times are impacting your chart/ your life.

***The Leo Moon is void-of-course from 1:39 AM EDT until she enters Virgo at 4:21 AM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

LET THE WARMTH OF THE SUN FORTIFY YOU – Thursday, August 20, 2020

Find a simple way to enjoy today. With the Sun moving into Virgo on Saturday you have only a small window left to enjoy this most exuberant Leo Season.

With the Moon in Virgo today, you may be tempted to focus on practical tasks and list-making. That is all well and good, but please spend at least a few hours at the beach as well.

In this difficult year of 2020, we need all the lighthearted play we can muster to fortify us for the darker colder days ahead. Go to the beach, play with your children or grandchildren, go for a walk, absorb the sunshine of Summer.

***The Virgo Moon is void-of-course from 11:37 PM EDT until she enters Libra in the early hours of tomorrow morning. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

CREATE BEAUTY & EASE – Friday, August 21, 2020

Before the day begins the Moon has entered Libra, making no major aspects throughout the day. This potentially offers a bit of a rest in the midst of the current social intensity. Anything significant that occurs today will be reflected in the transits of the slower moving planets going on in the background.

With the Moon in Libra, appreciation, and being seen in a positive light by others will motivate you. No one wants to overturn the applecart and each of us will adapt to the needs of others more easily.

It will be possible to frame otherwise difficult conversations in a diplomatic manner today. On the flip side, it will be hard to stick to your guns or even remember why your opinions seemed to matter so much yesterday. Perhaps that conversation does not need to be had at all. It is often hard to make up our minds when the Moon is in Libra.

Spend as much time today as possible creating beauty in your surroundings. That is more important than any conversation. This is not about neat and tidy clean up but more about bringing in wide swaths of color and texture that shifts your view of your surroundings.

***The Virgo Moon is void-of-course until she enters Libra at 5:15 AM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

VIRGO SEASON & SERIOUS PLANNING BEGINS – Saturday, August 22, 2020

Over the coming months while Mars is squaring the planets (Jupiter, Pluto, Saturn) currently transiting through Capricorn there will be one day each week that it is more challenging than others. During this weekly occurrence, we will learn to navigate the profound difficulties in the political, economic, and health arenas.

This week, today is that challenging day as the Moon passes through the later part of Libra forming challenging square aspects to those planets. Your job is to develop flexibility, kindness, and forgiveness as you learn to manage the personal issues that are created by the cultural ones.

At 11:44 AM EDT, we enter Virgo Season as the Sun leaves the heat and fun of Leo behind. As we consider the Sun entering Virgo, all that has been turned on its head in 2020 is highlighted. In years gone by it has been easy to talk about Virgo Season as the time when children go back to school and parents settle into more serious efforts. It is hard to think about school without getting caught up in all the issues parents and kids are having to manage this year. The current challenges to children’s education could not have been imagined in previous years. My heart goes out to parents and kids working through this reality.

Virgo season turns us inward as we begin to plan for the colder season ahead. It is harvest time, preparation time, and study time. The apples in the orchards are ripe and your farm share is generous with abundant bounty. It is time to begin processing, freezing or canning any excess produce to feed you in the upcoming winter.

Develop and organize any systems that will help support your physical, emotional, and mental health for the long cold winter ahead. If there is a new project or study that is calling to you, begin now to take practical steps forward. If you are interested in having a conversation about your astrology studies reach out to me. One of my great loves is to support students of the amazing craft of astrology.

A KIND WORD AND UNDERSTANDING – Sunday, August 23, 2020

As you begin today, shut the door on the difficulties of yesterday. Today is a new day and one that brings a different set of issues. Your emotions may have felt buffeted by the challenges of the pandemic and the political upheaval.

With the Moon now in Scorpio, your emotions take a deep dive into dark and intense territories. Focus your attention inward, evaluate your emotional state and practice self-care to support your ongoing physical, emotional, and mental health.

Tomorrow brings us to the first of three Mars square Saturn aspects that, along with Mars square Pluto, color the second half of 2020. As Mars squares, Jupiter, Pluto, and Saturn (for the rest of the year) get used to feeling as though you have one foot on the breaks and one foot on the gas.

Find practices that support the management of frustration, anxiety, and dread. Meditation, physical exercise, and/or focused writing can help to modulate your deep inner struggles now.

2020 is a difficult year, few of us will manage to remain unscathed. Remember this and offer a helping hand to those you encounter. At the end of the day, we all need a kind word and understanding.

***The Libra Moon is void-of-course from 12:19 AM EDT until she enters Scorpio at 6:16 AM EDT. This suggests that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.

* In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.

The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.

The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
