A Personal Note From Laurie (Astrolore)
Dear readers, I am ready to come out from behind the curtain of semi-anonymity.
Writing these weekly posts is time consuming and also highly consuming of my personal energy. This week I have been unable to write the weekly post. You will find a thumbnail sketch of the transits occurring this week and the VOC* Moon schedule below.
In lieu of an apology, I will explain.
If you are a student of astrology, you will learn as I share my personal experience. If you are simply curious about who writes these posts, I will satisfy some of your curiosity.  🙂  If, as a student, you are interested in the full picture, my birth information is as follows: born on August 8, 1955 at 9:17 AM in Boston Massachusetts.
My Moon is at 12° Aries in the seventh house (the House of Relationships), directly in the path of the Uranus Pluto square over the past year. This time has brought one of the most profound transformations of my life.
Following astrology, as I have since the age of 12, I’ve known for years that this time of change was going to profoundly impact my personal life. And yet that understanding is not a crystal ball. I was not able to imagine how this could possibly play out. On some level, I was in total denial of the huge change that could occur.
With Pisces on the cusp of my seventh house, it is easy for me to allow the reality of my relationships to be quite elusive. I didn’t anticipate the powerful transformation that could/would occur.

Brenda & Laurie

Brenda & Laurie

Last summer I met, and immediately fell in love with my current partner, Brenda. Yes, I was aware that she had some serious health problems. Up until now, my understanding has been on a conceptual level. Last Sunday, when she had her second heart attack in 14 months, her health issues suddenly became very real to me.
Spending several days in the hospital caring for her, I have begun to assimilate this very new reality; as I’m sure many of you are also doing related to your own lives and relationships. Brenda and I are experiencing many new changes and are currently combining two households into one. Changes in employment will also be part of the new picture. All of these changes impact me emotionally, financially, and in ways I have not even begun to process.
The changes taking place throughout the cosmos are impacting us all greatly.  Even as I watch the planetary patterns and speak with clients throughout the world; I see how these transits play out in the lives of others, I never seem to expect the same level of change in my own life.
No matter how much we love a particular circumstance, person, or relationship in our life, everything must grow, expand, come to fruition; and ultimately, wither and die. This process is inevitable and cannot change. Joy in our lives depends on our understanding and acceptance of this reality.
As I saw this time of change coming and understood it’s impact on my emotional nature (Moon), relationships (7th house), and community (Moon rules 11th house); I knew that the quietly domestic relationship I was involved in had to change in a profound manner.
As I am nearing 60, I expected this transit to leave me on my own with my work as the fundamental driving force my life. You would think that after studying astrology for 45 years if I understood nothing else it would be to expect the unexpected with any transit of Uranus!
The last thing in the world I expected was to find love with all the intensity, excitement, and passion of a 16 year old! What an immense joy this has been!
However, there is no question that the issues we deal with as we approach 60 are very different than the issues we deal with at 16. No matter what age we are, love can be blind and we rarely choose our love connections with sheer practicality in mind.
Brenda in the hospital

Brenda in the hospital

I always envied people who are brutally practical in choosing a partner, making sure their separate lives fit neatly together. My personal life has never reflected that reality (Pisces on the cusp of the seventh house)!
It has been an intense week. I did not get the weekly astrology weather report written and am emotionally drained. I fully intend to have the daily posts on Facebook each day, and to have next week‘s post back to normal. If you are not a friend of Astrolore on Facebook, please check in with me there.
For today, this is where I find myself:

  • I need to explain to my people why I didn’t write the post this week!
  • I didn’t get my taxes done! Must file the extension!
  • Prepare Brenda’s house in the woods to accept a new occupant (this is a major undertaking)
  • Pack and clean my Burlington apartment
  • Find folks to help me move on Saturday
  • Work, work, work!
  • Face and work with REALITY.

Major Lesson for me: To allow and accept the support and help of others.
We can keep our eyes open, our hearts open, and accept change without resistance. We can show profound levels of kindness to self and others. What we cannot do is prevent the change from coming! We can make it easier on ourselves and others by not resisting, and by always remembering that change is inevitable.
How we respond to major change, upheaval, and transformation is where our understanding and preparation helps. If you are not aware of your own place in these cycles, please begin to work with a good astrologer. Making these connections and following the cycles will help you to understand yourself and your life.
If you would like to support or help our situation, now would be a great time to schedule an appointment with Astrolore. I had planned on increasing my rates on May 1st but due to all of the immediate changes, I will be waiting on that.
If you are interested in understanding all the changes occurring in your own life; contact me for a consultation. We can explore what the changes mean in the wider context of your life and help you determine your path forward.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read. I love my readers and know that you’re a special bunch. Thank you for all your kindness and support during this time of great change. I hope you are enjoying your own version of transformation as it is playing out in your life!

This week: The VOC* Moon!
VOC* (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign. This can consist of several minutes or many hours. These periods are best handled with little expectation of accomplishment; times ideally suited for rest and contemplation.
Block off these times in your schedule and avoid making significant decisions or working on important projects during these times. During VOC* Moon, focus on routine tasks. You will be surprised at how this one change will smooth the edges of your life!
Do you have questions about what is appropriate to do or not do during the VOC* moon? A simple way to think about it is to ask a simple question: Do I hope that this activity will amount to something? If the activity does not need to amount to anything, go ahead with it! If you have an expectation or desire that this action is going to amount to something, do not do it while the Moon is VOC*.
Think about the time you bought a book you were certain you were going to love and you never could finish it! Think about the time you bought the perfect article of clothing that you ended up never wearing; that is the Moon VOC*!
Tuesday, April 14, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Aquarius) following a sextile to mercury at 3:45 PM EDT until she enters Pisces at 4:12 PM PDT.
Wednesday, April 15, 2015, the Moon is VOC* (in Pisces) following a sextile to Pluto at 5:36 PM EDT until she enters Aries at 4:59 PM EDT.
Saturday, April 18, 2015, the Moon is VOC* (in Aries) following the New Moon at 2:57 PM EDT until she enters Taurus at 5:31 PM EDT.

* In these weekly reports, I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.
The Aspects I consider: Conjunctions, Sextiles, Squares, Trines, and Oppositions.
The Planets I am working with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
