Week of November 25, 2013 – December 1, 2013

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, by now we are either joyfully or painfully aware of the holidays fast approaching.
The darkness of the season, the cold of winter, and all the baggage that we carry with us into this season is fully upon us!

The motion of the planets this week certainly reflect a very active week. We all seem to desire a life with more simplicity but this is not the week to try to implement that!
This is also not the week to try to control your diet as you sit down to a Thanksgiving meal with family or friends. It is just not going to work. I would recommend that you simply give yourself a pass for this week.
The issue of indulgence is clearly on the table. Fighting against it will simply make it more difficult to get back on track once the Thanksgiving meal is cleared from the table.

Monday November 25, 2013:

We begin the week with the MOON ENTERING VIRGO at 7:11AM EST reflecting our commitment to make a heartfelt effort to get this week off to a good start! If you live here in the US you are likely preparing for Thanksgiving on Thursday.
What gratitude we should have for this VIRGO MOON! Making the lists, paying attention to all the details will be relatively enjoyable work if we get it done today or tomorrow. Do not wait until Wednesday!
The enjoyment of the Holiday on Thursday, very much depends on getting 90% of the prep work done before Wednesday!
Today brings us to the THIRD QUARTER MOON where we become aware of what we need to set aside. Where have our expectations led us to over extension and over indulgence? How many vegetables do you really need at the Thanksgiving dinner table? Will it really be a problem to have only one pie? Let go of the excesses of the past. Lighten the load of tradition in the places where it becomes simply too much.
MERCURY CONJUNCT SATURN – 16degrees SCORPIO; Where have you been working on the inception of some project or plan that has been struggling to get off the ground since early October? Due to the recent retrograde of Mercury this is the 3rd time that MERCURY has met with SATURN since October 8th. Now the cycle/the project is finally ready to begin. This is a serious undertaking of learning, communication, or study.

Tuesday November 26, 2013:

I would expect Tuesday to be a pretty simple day. A perfect time to clean the house, prepare for company, or simply organize your desk and that project we talked about on Monday’s post!
This is great energy for a very productive day. We can be calm in our ability to control  and organize our time, we can focus on the details that need to be managed.
The VIRGO MOON makes lovely aspect throughout the day. We are able to feel a sense of empowerment, focus, mental clarity, delight, and expansion of our hearts!
Let’s take a moment to think about VIRGO. The gifts of Virgo are often ignored as the negative side of Virgo is so often accentuated!  Virgo energy presents us with a focus on discrimination, on ‘separating the wheat from the chaff ‘, on seeing what is of value, and seeking to improve and prefect.  From a heart of kindness Virgo chooses to be of service. This is the energy that you can utilize today as you prepare for Thanksgiving on Thursday.
Even if you don’t celebrate this crazy gluttonous holiday you can still find that inner kindness and deep gratitude to share with others. We all need the giving, and receiving of extra kindness every day of the year!

Wednesday November 27, 2013:

If you have utilized the energy of the past few days well, you will have everything done toward the Thanksgiving celebration and you can simply take a ‘down’ day on Wednesday. This would be ideal!
Take yourself to a movie, if you have family in town bring everyone to a movie!
The MOON CONJUNCT MARS at 6:44AM EST; following that she will be VOC until 5PM EST when she enters LIBRA. The energy of this final aspect will color the VOC period.

We may notice ourselves, and others, being more sensitive than normal to any type of discord. If you know you are going to be in stressful family situations, with much to be done during this period of time, please plan ahead!
Make sure you take the time for silent centering and meditation this morning. What else do you need to do to keep yourself balanced in the face of potential family stress?
When the MOON ENTERS LIBRA at 5PM EST things lighten up considerably! The evening will likely prove to be the best time to work together, socialize, and communicate.
MERCURY SEXTILE VENUS at 10:45PM. By the time we head to bed we will have had the opportunity to patch up any difficulties that occurred earlier in the day. Be sure you take the opportunity; it will be there!

Thursday November 28, 2013:

Here in the USofA Thursday is Thanksgiving, the traditional day of gratitude.
We would be remiss not to mention that this day tends to spill over into indulgence, gluttony and a certain propensity toward high expectation and family drama.
Today begins with MERCURY TRINE JUPITER. Our thoughts expand into areas of generosity; we hope and plan for the best. Bring your biggest, most expansive ideas to the table today, engage with others on philosophical topics.
Our opinions are enlarged and with the MOON IN LIBRA (playing into the URANUS PLUTO SQUARE) we may enjoy the banter of opinions at cross purposes.
Yes, it could get edgy but don’t try to avoid it. There is value here.  Allow others to have whatever beliefs and opinions they have – be curious, ask questions. Watch your triggers and don’t engage them!
VENUS OPPOSING JUPITER is also part of today’s astrological picture. This is a very social day, we feel expansive and forgiving toward others; and they, toward us.
Much healing could happen on this day if we pay attention to how we use this energy. Look outward as much as possible. If you have the sense that you are not able to get enough love and affection; turn it around! Give to others all the love, affection, and resources that you are feeling in need of.
This can be a wonderful day of sharing and healing old tensions as long as you can keep your own defensiveness off the table. You may need to engage your internal diplomat when others get ‘hooked’; but the LIBRA MOON will help you find your internal peacemaker!

Friday November 29, 2013:

The Friday after Thanksgiving is a huge day for retailers here in the USofA.
Called Black Friday, it is considered the start of the holiday shopping season. Retailers go to crazy lengths to attract and draw in consumers, with extended hours and wild discounts.
There has long been an aggressive side to this day with consumers stampeding and becoming disruptive in their attempt to be the first in line to get the deals offered.
If you can’t find a reason to stay out of the stores on this day; I am here to give you one!
Don’t shop on Friday!
The things you buy as gifts will not be what you want to give when the holiday comes! Really! If you shop for yourself, your purchases will be a disappointment or simply a waste of $.
The final aspect that the MOON makes before going VOC (SAGITTARIUS) is a connection to VENUS at 6:14AM. So unless you want to get your shopping done before that; don’t do it!
I suspect less aggression in the stores than some years, but nevertheless, it is not what you want to be doing.
Friday is a day to recuperate, hang out with friends and relatives; play together – or on your own, go to a museum, see a movie, traipse around in the woods, play a card game! No shopping!
The important thing is to enjoy the company of those you are with, if you are alone; make it a point to enjoy yourself!

Saturday November 30, 2013:

Saturday we wake up to a very different emotional environment. There is a deep undercurrent of emotional introspection.
We are in the Dark of the Moon as we head toward the New Moon on Monday. There is the sense of winding down, going inward.
It is a good idea to give some attention to that undercurrent with time alone in meditation or contemplation this morning before you get swept into the energy clamoring for more outward attention.
This will be a day to balance very different energies.  The SUN TRINE URANUS at 8degrees SAGITTARIUS TO ARIES. brings us outward, seeking to express the inward revolutionary changes we have most recently encountered.
Pay particular attention if you have planets at (or near) 8degrees of Fire Signs! This is an exciting combination bringing unexpected innovations, inspirations, and epiphanies.
We (or others) are ready to break out of the status quo, to shake things up, to expose what has been hidden even if it begins a revolution in our midst! There is a renewed need for independence and freedom.
Honesty, Truth, and Integrity feel deeply personal and personally significant. Pay attention to the changes that are brought forth in the world and in our lives this weekend.

Sunday December 1, 2013:

I expect that on Sunday we will be more able to work on the deeper emotional level that the Dark Moon in Scorpio seeks.
Did Saturday bring an intense shift to your life, or open your eyes to one that has been unacknowledged?  Now it is important to set that issue aside and take a journey inward.
On Monday we will begin a new Lunar Cycle; spend time preparing for that. Allow the last cycle to end; prepare the seed that you will plant at tomorrow’s NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS.
This Lunar Cycle brings great promise; any cycle that has its beginning in Sagittarius opens us to generosity, enthusiasm, and optimism. This New Moon will usher us into that season of idealism and faith!
In preparation, you will do well to go inward and nurture the seed that will grow over the next month. There is something deep inside that is asking to be set aside, something that prevents you from opening your heart fully to embrace the light.
Find one small dark spot within your heart to bring light to, in your practice at this time. Consider the Phoenix. We have many opportunities throughout our lives to transcend darkness – to purify through fire into the light of transformation. We don’t need to do it all at once. Once step at a time is a powerful way to go! Take one step now!

* In my weekly reports I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to it’s VOC time, as that aspect holds it’s influence throughout the VOC*
The Aspects I consider: Conjunctions, Sextiles, Squares, Trines, and Oppositions
The Planets I am working with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
*VOC (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign. This can consist of several minutes or many hours. These periods are best handled with little expectation of accomplishment; times ideally suited for rest and contemplation.
