Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: January 1, 2018 through January 7, 2018

“For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his/her happiness on major events like a great job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.” ~ Andy Rooney

SUPER SENSITIVE CANCER FULL MOON

Monday, January 1, 2018:

The year begins with the focus squarely on family and emotional security with the Full Moon at 11° Cancer. If you are not able to be with biological family, make sure you are engaged in connections with others that have a similar familial quality.

You may notice yourself unusually interested in creating or deepening powerful loving bonds. Family bonds are not easy and require work to be supportive and provide the safety you are looking for. Do not shy away from the necessary effort.

This sensitive Cancer Moon has serious conversations with Saturn, Venus, and the Sun, suggesting the work and effort bring what is necessary into focus.

The evening brings a lovely Neptunian dreamy quality that helps you to release the seriousness of the early part of the day and engage in loving dreams of the future.

PROFOUND CHANGE MOVES FORWARD

Tuesday, January 2, 2018:

As the Capricorn Sun inches closer to powerful Pluto, we feel the intensity of the year ahead. Love and compassion may not come easily with the Full Moon opposing Saturn, Venus, and the Sun but are much required going forward.

The serious Capricorn Sun forms a sweet sextile aspect to Neptune early in the day, allowing the possibility of making contact with a mystical or imaginative side of yourself. This will be a great day to work on any project that fully engages your creativity and the softer side of your imagination. Perhaps, it is time to re-engage your meditation practice, yoga practice, writing practice, or any other daily practice that puts you in the presence of your own divinity.

Uranus turns direct at 24° Aries after being retrograde since August 3, 2017. If you have planets between 22° and 24° Aries, you can expect excitement, unexpected news or upheaval. Something has been on hold since August that will now move forward, shifting your life along with the direct motion.

If you were born between April 11 -14, July 14 – 17, October 15 – 18, or January 12 – 15, your Sun is being affected. As much as possible, go with the flow that presents itself and do not fight against the change that is in front of you. This is a major life transformation that takes at least a year to navigate. Your best life is on the other side of this transit. A full consultation will help you understand how to go with the flow involved and avoid the fear-based tendency to fight against it. Please contact me.

The Cancer Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 5:46 PM EST until she enters Leo at 2:23 AM EST on Wednesday morning. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

ROMANCE AND FLOWERS

Wednesday, January 3, 2018:

By the time the day begins on Wednesday, the Moon leaves the sensitivity of Cancer behind to enter Leo, where she encourages you to express yourself unabashedly through play, generosity, and creativity.

A Russian Beauty by Alexei Harlamov via Wiki Media

At 12:38 PM EST, comfort-seeking Venus forms a lovely sextile aspect to Neptune, the planet of romance and mysticism. This aspect mirrors the transit between the Sun and Neptune that occurred on Tuesday. Again, you are encouraged to make contact with a very sensitive, perhaps deeply spiritual side of yourself.

You are also reminded to re-engage any daily practices in your life that you have been neglecting through this holiday season. Get back on the meditation cushion, yoga mat, get back into nature, or open your writing journal once again.

This is a great day to shop for clothes or other items of decoration for yourself or your home, as your sense of beauty is highly engaged.

When Venus and Neptune dance together, they also encourage romance, love, desire, and sensitivity.

You deserve flowers on the table and a candlelit meal with a loved one or even on your own.

GIVE OF YOURSELF THROUGH PLAY

Thursday, January 4, 2018:

Thursday’s Leo Moon encourages warmth, generosity, and full undiluted expression of your most authentic self. From another perspective, you (or those around you) could possibly get stuck in arrogance and easily hurt feelings. If you focus on what you can offer others, rather than what you can get for yourself, this will be a fun day with lots of potential excitement and unusual conversations.

The optimistic Leo Moon forms a Grand Trine to communicative Mercury and humanitarian, quirky Uranus in the evening. Creative social activities can prove highly positive. Your feeling nature may seem a bit over the top as your dramatic nature is apt to reveal itself with grand feelings and gestures.

Enjoy fun times with folks that appreciate you for your most unique wild side. If you have children in your life… take them sledding or find some way to engage on their level. Give of yourself through play.

The Leo Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 6:10 PM EST until she enters Virgo at 3:11 AM EST on Friday morning. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

NOTICE THE DETAILS

Friday, January 5, 2018:

Friday begins with the Moon in diligent, self-contained Virgo. The unabashed self-expression of the past few days brings you up against the need to become more competent and to pay more attention to details.

If you pay attention, you will realize how much easier it is while the Moon is in Virgo to take on a serious endeavor that requires efficiency and putting your nose to the grindstone.

The Virgo Moon will bring you face to face with your inner perfectionist and critic. Be aware of your tendency to expect more from others that they may be capable of. If you express expectations that someone is unable to deliver, you may inadvertently push them into old spaces of guilt, shame, and critical self-judgment.

Be kind to yourself and others. It is more important now than you realize. Please be kind.

INNOVATIVE IDEAS MEET EXPANSIVE GROWTH

Saturday, January 6, 2018:

Two significant aspects occur on Saturday that has a wider range of impact than a simple moon transit. At 6:38 PM EST, Mercury (the planet of mind) forms a flowing trine aspect to Uranus. This suggests delightful and innovative thinking, communications, and ideas. Watch for unexpected epiphanies, unusual, or exciting communications, and unique progressive thoughts.

In May of 2017, Uranus and Mercury joined together, beginning a cycle of creative and innovative thinking. In October, there was likely a result of that new way of thinking or communicating. Try to identify what occurred in May, what was revealed about it in October, and now needs to be expressed to others. What have you learned that can be beneficially shared with others?

Perhaps, this is the time to create that podcast or blog that you’ve been thinking about? Perhaps, it is time to allow someone to understand your mind in a new way; to create a new form or method of communication? In some way, it is time to reveal your progressive thinking in a public way.

Also, dynamic Mars conjoins with expansive Jupiter at 17° Scorpio, beginning a cycle of assertive growth, courageous generosity, or frustrated idealism. If you were born between November 7-10, February 3-6, May 5-8, or August 7-10, this will have a powerful personal impact on you. Set an intention to courageously expand your personal reach toward self-growth. This is a significant year for you to reach beyond the places you have been stuck. Contact me – let’s talk.

The Virgo Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 9:51 PM EST until she enters Libra on Saturday morning at 7:14 AM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

BRING BEAUTY INTO YOUR LIFE

Sunday, January 7, 2018:

With the Moon passing through cooperative, graceful Libra on Sunday, your focus will be on creating order through diplomacy and pleasing interactions with others. You will also want to create a beautiful environment within which those interactions can occur. You are more able than usual to set aside your own agenda in order to avoid confrontations and achieve the peace you long for.

It may be difficult to make clear decisions without the input of others as you do not want to lose the approval of those around you. This is a good day to engage in cooperative activities that require teamwork.

You may hit a snag when the Moon squares Saturn at 11:09 AM EST. Stay with it, work your way through that snag in order to learn a great deal about yourself and your ability to work constructively with others.

Create beauty in your home and your relationships; spend time creating art or visiting a museum. It will be deeply soothing to bring as much beauty into your life as possible.

The Virgo Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) until she enters Libra at 7:14 AM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC*, there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; it is not good or bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have any significant future impact.

A BIT VAGUE AND A LITTLE EDGY

Monday, January 9, 2017:

You may begin the week feeling as though your head in the clouds as the Gemini Moon forms a square aspect with Neptune, the planet of bewilderment and confusion. It is best not to make firm decisions. Your mind may feel very busy but I wouldn’t trust its accuracy.

Allow yourself to be forgetful and vague; better yet, you can use this as an opportunity to focus your attention on poetry and music.

This evening watch your tongue and don’t take it personally if others are a bit cranky and out of sorts. The Gemini Moon forms a square aspect to Mars at 7:39 PM EST. Physical exercise may help move this energy or if you trust yourself and the other person involved, go ahead and engage in edgy, friendly banter. Make sure the friendly side stays firmly in mind. There is much to be said, watch the edge in your voice and make sure you are not misunderstood.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Tuesday, January 10, 2017:

Tuesday sets the tone for the rest of the week. Anticipate feeling the need to reach for personal and possibly collective freedom. If you are restricted or restrained in some area of your life, you may now lose your ability to contain the demand for complete and utter change.

This is a highly revolutionary impulse. Look for breakthroughs and breakdowns. If you notice things falling apart, don’t try to control or pull them together again. Reach to the future; discover what can be created out of the remnants of what is left after the lightning strikes.

By looking at the cycle between the Sun and Uranus, we are brought back to early April of 2016. What began (what seed did you plant) at that time that was unusual or surprising to you on a personal level? By mid-October, it was crystal clear what that seed had grown into.

Now, it is time to show the truth to others and prepare for the next cycle to begin in mid-April, 2017. Allow yourself to see the future.

After a brief VOC*, the Moon enters Cancer at 5:40 PM EST. Regardless of the shakeup that may have occurred during the day, the evening is best spent quietly at home engaging in bonding behaviors with your loved ones; at the very least, cuddle with your cat. 😉

The Gemini Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 4:39 PM EST until she enters Cancer at 5:48 PM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC* there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; not good, not bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have significant future impact.

POWER AND EXPANSION

Wednesday, January 11, 2017:

Wednesday morning may bring complications. At 2:14 AM EST, Mars, the planet of assertiveness and aggression, forms a sextile aspect to Pluto, the planet of destruction or empowerment.

This offers an opportunity to consider, with curiosity, issues regarding your use of power in situations where you are viewed as a mystic or an authority. The cycle of Mars and Pluto is one of great power or, possibly, great destruction.  Here, we have the power of direct action engaging with the power of transformation.

In October of 2016, (notice how that span of time also came up in Tuesday’s report, these situations are no doubt connected), these two came together planting a seed of determination in creating the powerful life that calls you fourth. Your explorations in this regard will lead you to take appropriate action in late February of 2017.

The Cancer Moon brings a mixed bag of emotional ups and downs throughout the day. At 11:42 PM EST, the Sun squares joyful, expansive Jupiter asking you to question where you see your life expanding. Consider where you felt optimistic or even enthusiastic in late September 2016. It is time now to push forward, finding new directions to enlarge that optimism for the future.

CANCER FULL MOON; ENGAGE LOVE

Thursday, January 12, 2017:

The nurturing Cancer Moon reaches the Full phase of her cycle at 6:34 AM EST. This is a very powerful Full Moon as she is positioned in a Full Grand Cross (a highly active and potentially stressful configuration) with Pluto, Uranus, and Jupiter.

Move mindfully through this day. Patience and kindness are required. This is not a day for rash decisions or impulsive actions.

Use the intensity of this powerful day with caution, cooperation, and deliberate thought. This is not a day to take any situations or circumstances lightly.

At 9:03 AM EST, Mercury, the planet that represents the way we think and perceive the world, leaves Sagittarius behind to enter Capricorn where he will remain until February 7th. During this time, you will be able to base your plans and decisions on a more practical understanding of your options.

It is probably best not to trust this practicality for another day or two as a conjunction between lovely Venus and delusional Neptune occurs at 4:53 PM EST. It is difficult to be practical when the heart is fully engaged in deep sensitivity and compassion.

At 7:08 PM EST, the Moon enters demonstrative Leo allowing playful energy to emerge. Worked with properly, you can enjoy an evening of playful sensitivity and engagement.

The Cancer Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 6:34 AM EST until she enters Leo at 7:08 PM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC* there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; not good, not bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have significant future impact.

REST – PLAY

Friday, January 13, 2017:

Friday offers a lovely day of rest and play. There are absolutely no major aspects to any planets, even the Leo Moon travels lazily through the heavens on Friday.

During a day with no aspects, the only thing you must consider is the energy the Moon provides. With the Moon in delightful and flashy Leo, you are given permission to express yourself authentically and appreciate others. This is a date to show up and allow yourself to be admired, even as you admire the authentic expression of those you encounter. We all want appreciation and recognition. For Friday, seek opportunities to offer that to others and to accept it for yourself.

Enjoy a lovely night. This is a great evening to go into the world to engage in dramatic and creative activities. Go to the theater, go out dancing, join with friends in any and all playful activities. Release stress through play.

PLAY – REST

Saturday, January 14, 2017:

Saturday offers you a morning with more delightful energy for connections and playful interactions. Get up early and go out for brunch with friends. The delightful Leo Moon makes lovely aspects with exciting Uranus, expansive Jupiter, and stabilizing Saturn throughout the morning. Following her positive contact with mature Saturn at 10:17 AM EST, the generous Leo Moon is VOC* until she enters Virgo at 10:53 PM EST.

This is not a great day to go shopping, accomplish projects, or make plans. It is best utilized for rest and laid back, easy socializing.

The Leo Moon is VOC* (think of it as being adrift, without focus or connection) from 10:17 AM EST until she enters for go at 10:53 PM EST. Remember, when the Moon is VOC* there will be no result from anything that is begun. This is neutral; not good, not bad, it simply suggests that whatever occurs will not have significant future impact.

ACCOMPLISHMENT TURNS TO FLOW

Sunday, January 15, 2017:

On Sunday, you can expect to wake to a day that initially feels practical and grounded. You sense that you can accomplish a great deal of efficient tasks and projects. Don’t delay! Get started on those tasks and projects as early as possible.

At 5:08 PM EST, when the detail oriented Virgo Moon opposes elusive Neptune all practicality goes out the window as you are faced with confusion and vague discomfort. Don’t fight against it, allow yourself to go with the flow. Confusion can become inspirational whimsy. Vague discomfort can be transformed into empathy and sensitivity.

At 10:58 PM EST, the Moon opposes lovely Venus in Pisces allowing you to rest into beauty, sensitivity, and love. If you’re with a partner, engage in your favorite bonding behaviors. If you are alone, draw yourself a bubble bath and allow yourself to enter a space of transcendence and gentle beauty.

Winter Solstice – December 21st: As we begin Winter, the Light of the Sun Returns

Brita as Iduna by Carl Larsson

Brita as Iduna by Carl Larsson

December 21, 2015 marks the Winter Solstice. This is officially the beginning of Winter and the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

On this day, from our perspective, it seems that the Sun stands still in the skies. Here at the darkest, shortest day of the year, we celebrate the return of the light. As we move forward, into the heart of Winter, the days become colder and yet the light begins to grow, representing new hope, new light, and new life!

All the holiday traditions that we celebrate, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year’s, all have roots in the Winter Solstice celebrations of the past. We continue to enjoy winter festivals to celebrate the return of the Sun with feasts, time spent with loved ones, singing, and dancing.

Astrologically, the Winter Solstice marks the moment the Sun moves from the exciting Fire sign of Sagittarius into the serious, steadfast Earth sign of Capricorn. At this time, it is necessary that we engage in both celebration and deep internal reflection.

As the Sun moves into steadfast Capricorn, we take the opportunity to look back over the past year. We contemplate our successes and our missteps.

No matter how festive your holiday celebration, please take time for deep contemplation. This will help you to start 2016 with a clean slate and be ready to start anew.

WINTER SOLSTICE: CELEBRATE THE RETURN OF THE LIGHT

Monday, December 21, 2015:

The week begins with the Moon in Taurus offering us a stable foundation to begin the new cycle that is represented by the Winter Solstice. The Winter Solstice occurs at 11:47 PM EST as the Sun leaves the fun exploration of Sagittarius behind to enter the stable, serious realm of Capricorn.

This is the shortest day of the year and the longest night. At this time, our Sun seems to stand still and turn back toward the light. As we head into deep, cold winter, in the Northern Hemisphere, our days grow colder, even as moment by moment, they grow longer.

Pay attention as each day brings us a few more moments of light.

Celebrate the return of light!

SELF CARE

Tuesday, December 22, 2015:

The Moon is in Taurus on Tuesday; seek peace and beauty in the midst of these hectic days of preparation. At 9:27 AM EST, the Moon is VOC* until she enters Gemini at 9:31 PM EST. While the Moon is VOC*, it is best to focus on routine tasks rather than trying to accomplish more significant projects.

If you don’t have routine tasks that are calling to you or your focus continues to slip, simply do not worry about it. Take a day of self-care and rest. It will be much easier to get what you need to get done if you simply rest on Tuesday and focus on what needs doing on Wednesday. For Tuesday, give it a rest. Take a hot bath, enjoy a glass of wine, read a long slow novel. Self care is likely what you need more than anything.

Show the Universe that you love yourself enough to pay attention to your needs. Self care is so much more important than we think.

UNDERSTANDING AND ACCEPTANCE

Wednesday, December 23, 2015:

I hope you avoided the frustration of trying to accomplish much on Tuesday. If you were able to rest, do routine tasks, and spend the day on self-care, you will be amazed at how much you can get done on Wednesday.

Many of you reading this are busy (and perhaps a bit frantic) preparing for the upcoming holiday of gift giving. This can be an extremely stressful time with much activity and hurried preparation.

Wednesday and Thursday provide an opportunity to get all necessary activities done in a short period time. Keep in mind that the most important activities over the next few days involve socializing and enjoying friends, family, and neighbors.

The Gemini Moon encourages day trips, conversations, and much activity. Midafternoon may require a bit of time alone if you notice yourself being less understanding of others or less resilient yourself. That discomfort will pass and the evening should be fine as you welcome, and offer, new perspectives.

Understanding and acceptance is an important element as we gather with family. Give acceptance, even if you don’t understand. It is not always our job to understand those we love; it is our job to accept.

HAPPY HOLIDAY-EVE

Thursday, December 24, 2015:

Thursday starts with joy and pleasure as we reach towards the Full Moon which falls on Christmas Day. Thursday brings a delightful sextile between Venus and Jupiter.

If you are celebrating this holiday with giving gifts, I hope you have completed your shopping by now. Ideally, you will spend this beautiful energy (Venus sextile Jupiter) connecting with loved ones.

If you find yourself still shopping, watch for serious overspending. You really don’t need to buy that expensive gift to show your love. Your very presence in the life of your loved ones is the most valued gift you have.

Leave all greed, expectations, and past hurts behind.

HAPPY HOLIDAY!

Friday, December 25, 2015:

On Friday, Christmas Day, we enjoy the illumination of the Cancer Full Moon at 6:12 AM EST. The day begins with the Moon entering Cancer, the sign of family security and nostalgia.

Many folks will be lost in memories of past holiday celebrations, past love, and long gone family members. Go ahead and indulge in those old holiday movies.

Mid afternoon, Mercury forms a trine aspect with Jupiter asking us to express words of love, hope, and acceptance. Expand your perspectives to include everyone at the table.

Friday night at 10:52 PM, Uranus turns direct, having been retrograde since late July 2015. Over the coming days, watch the areas in the culture and in yourself, where the Spirit of revolution comes alive. Where in your life do you see the need to speak the truth regardless of its popularity?

If you are spending several days with family, you can expect a bit of upheaval in the form of excitement or stress. What issues have been kept under wraps but are ready now to come out of the proverbial closet? Over the coming days, secrets will be revealed, surprises will occur.

Choose excitement over stress, acceptance over denial.

BIOLOGICAL OR CHOSEN; THIS IS YOUR FAMILY

Saturday, December 26, 2015:

If something is revealed on Friday that adds an element of surprise, excitement, devastation, or shock to the family dynamics, Saturday will be an active day of working from a place of being stuck to a place of understanding.

The day may begin with the most difficult conversations necessary. By the end of the day, with the proper effort, there can be great acceptance and support. Internal and external peace can be found.

Regardless of whether this is your chosen family or the family you were born into… this is Your Family. Show love, discover full acceptance, and move out of your own way, if and where necessary.

EXPRESS WARMTH

Sunday, December 27, 2015:

Let’s wrap up all the pleasure of a holiday weekend into Sunday.

At 5:30 AM EST, the Moon leaves the emotional sign of Cancer behind to enter Leo. Now, we will be able to set aside emotional sensitivity and turmoil in exchange for openhearted generosity and fun!

With the Moon in the generous, dramatic, and fun-loving sign of Leo, you need to express your deepest desires. You feel the pull toward an approach to your life from a place of passion and creative expression. On an emotional level, this is a day for warmth, generosity, and powerful self-confidence. Enjoy this one!
