Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: February 2, 2015 through February 8, 2015

Here we are at the first week of February!

As the Sun continues its path through Aquarius, I consider the sharp intellect, intense clarity, and extreme brilliance of Aquarius to color these days.
Following the solstice on December 21st, the light has continued to return a few moments each day. At this point in the process, in the northern climates (I am writing from Vermont, USA), we experience a profound shift in the quality of light.

When I think of February, I think of brilliant sunshine glittering off ice and snow. There is brilliance and clarity in that light that is unlike any other!  Perhaps it is because of the opposition to the sign of Leo, which is ruled by the Sun. Opposite Signs have much in common; in the case of Leo and Aquarius I think the commonality is the brilliance of the Sun and the perspective of clarity.

Aquarius is the sign of genius; not genius in the way of being of the highest intelligence, but genius in the ability to think outside boundaries that culture or family have imposed upon us.  That is the brilliance and the genius of Aquarius.

The Full Moon in Leo on Tuesday enables us to see outside social (or familial) constructed boxes of limitation. Allow yourself to shine in full expression of your own individual truth.

The aspects throughout the week are highly positive. This brings us a week with plenty of opportunity to enjoy, stabilize, and deepen our relationships and circumstances.

Monday, February 2, 2015:

Starting the week off with an aspect between the Sun and Uranus indicates a week of excitement and a bit of instability.

We begin the week with the Moon VOC* in Cancer, suggesting a slow start to the day, couldn’t we just sleep a few more hours?

At 7:29 AM EST, the Sun forms it’s closing sextile to Uranus. In April 2014, the cycle between the Sun and Uranus began. Perhaps you received surprising news or began an unusual study or project at that time. Consider what began that was of an unconventional nature in April 2014. This cycle came to full illumination in October of 2014.

If you know what this cycle represents in your life, you may realize that it is now time to be actively completing or releasing that project or study. If you are unclear, simply pay attention to a truth or belief that is leading you to a powerful and empowering change, which will begin a new cycle of seeking individuality in early April 2015.

If you are experiencing anxiety on Monday, look at where you are attempting to avoid or hold back some significant change in your life. Stop resisting the change and the anxiety will lift.

You may hear, experience, or somehow encounter a reality that will offer you the opportunity to move forward toward your most necessary change.

Tuesday, February 3, 2015:

A lovely Full Moon occurs in Leo at 6:09 PM EST. The New Moon appeared in Aquarius on January 20th, two weeks ago. Consider what began at that time and what you now see as the result.

The Moon is brilliantly clear on Tuesday as she makes contact with Mercury and Uranus.

This is a chillingly bright day, offering the possibility of clarity and generosity of spirit. The Full Moon occurs when the Moon and Sun are exactly opposing each other. With the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo; consider the intellect of Aquarius and the heart generosity of Leo being open to a clear, unobstructed view of each other. Thinking of the Zodiac as a round table, consider planets at opposite sides of that table; as the Sun and Moon are on Tuesday. In this position, they have the clearest view of each other and the most direct avenue for communication. The Moon in Leo insists on full expression of generosity and openhearted love; the Sun in Aquarius shines brightly as the humanitarian and somewhat eccentric ‘truth sayer’. As these two stand facing each other in full sight, our generosity opens into new levels of humanitarian acceptance and love.

Observe with new eyes those folks who are deeply and profoundly unlike you. Fully accept the variety of human nature, human belief, and human reality. Look clearly into the deepest core, to where our differences dissolve.

Young Woman with Ibis by Edgar Degas

Young Woman with Ibis by Edgar Degas

I find it interesting when we go through spells with such long VOC* Moons! This happens when the majority of the planets are in early degrees of the Signs. Wednesday brings us a full day with the Moon VOC* in Leo.
I would anticipate a fabulous day as long as work and accomplishment are not your top priority.

Wednesday will be ideal for playful socializing with friends, keeping warm by the fire with a good book, or window-shopping to your hearts content! Let’s get clear about that last example. Window-shopping could be great fun, however, actually purchasing items could prove to be problematic. The final aspect the Moon makes in Leo is a conjunction to Jupiter; watch for overspending or overindulgence of all types.

Considering that overindulgence may be a problem, push your energy in the direction of love and caring for others. Overindulge in kindness. Wednesday would be a great day to play with children, visit the elderly, and/or bring love to those who have been forgotten.

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ~ Lao Tzu

Thursday, February 5, 2015:

We are relieved to wake up Thursday morning to the Moon solidly in Virgo bringing us a day where accomplishment is not only possible but likely to comes with ease. At 6:38 AM EST, Mercury sextile Saturn is asking us to look back to late November 2014, when a new cycle began between Mercury and Saturn. This cycle brought a serious topic of study or consideration to mind. Due to Mercury now being retrograde, we must reconsider the topic. The retrograde gives us an extended period of researching and considering what is needed to bring this topic to its desired conclusion.

On March 16, 2015, we reach the First Quarter Square in the cycle between them. At that time, we will be ready to take a serious step forward on this project, study, or idea.

Thursday morning holds serious energy, which will be replaced later in the afternoon by a bit of dreaminess, lack of clarity, or simply exhaustion.

Perhaps, you will want to focus your attention on health concerns. Pay attention to your body, how it feels, and how you care for it. Pay attention, as well, to your pets and their health concerns. A bit of selfless service to the outside world will do wonders for your self-esteem and your way of moving through life. As you care for and show value toward others, you also learn to more highly value yourself. Bring love to all corners of your life.

Friday, February 6, 2015:

Friday brings us another day of high productivity. We have a lot of energy to get a great deal accomplished on Friday.
At 1:19 PM EST, the Sun opposes Jupiter. This brings us to a full view of where our lives have expanded over the past six months. The Sun and Jupiter began this cycle of expansion in the last week of July 2014. The view is clear now.

We are able to see clearly how far we have come, how much our lives have grown and expanded throughout this time. The clarity is right there before our eyes!

Consider what began expanding in July 2014 and how that is now fully expressed and illuminated in your life. I would love to hear your experience! Please leave me a note!

The Moon is in Virgo going VOC* at 5:09 PM EST following an opposition to Mars. We may find ourselves struggling with frustration and crankiness Friday evening.

If you notice tension and strain in your conversations with others, simply set those communications aside for now. Whatever the conversation, there are better times to have it! Spending the evening at the gym, or some other solitary physical activity would be ideal.

Saturday February 7, 2015:

Allow yourself a slow leisurely start to Saturday morning. The Moon is VOC*, still being influenced by the opposition to Mars on Friday. Don’t be surprised if you feel a little cranky. Please don’t let it rule your morning, there is no reason for it to last! Let the energy pass through you.

At 1:44 PM EST, the Moon enters Libra and we release that crankiness that has kept us feeling a bit separate from others. Saturday afternoon everything takes on a lighter feel and we can enjoy a wonderful afternoon, evening, and Saturday night!

Yes! Whatever the question is, the answer is yes! Allow yourself the joy of connection, the joy of friendship, and the joy of socialization on this Saturday evening! Have a party, go to a party, or enjoy a night on the couch with an intimate partner.

I would be remiss to not mention that very early Sunday morning, shortly after midnight, Venus forms a sextile to Pluto. The energy of this transit will impact the entire weekend.

Sextiles always represent opportunities or possibilities. We can ignore them if we choose. When Pluto and Venus come together, there is a powerful attraction available. This is a powerful impact, a powerful pull toward love and all things of beauty. Our values are empowered profoundly. Keep your eyes open for deep transformative attraction.

Say: Yes!

Sunday February 8, 2015:

As I spoke about in Saturday’s post, the Venus sextile Pluto aspect is exact at 12:53 AM EST. Keep your eyes and your heart open for the opportunity to connect in deeply transformative ways with love, beauty, desire, and that which we value most deeply in our lives. If you feel pulled toward love or beauty, allow yourself to go with this profound offered opportunity.

The Moon is in Libra all day; this evening connecting with the ongoing square between Uranus and Pluto. You may feel that you need to justify some action that you have taken this weekend. Be prepared to own your right to create the life that works best for you. Watch for misunderstandings.

Don’t let the potential stress of the evening cause you any concern as you accept the love that is offered and the joy that this weekend offers.

This week: The VOC* Moon!

VOC* (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign. This can consist of several minutes or many hours. These periods are best handled with little expectation of accomplishment; times ideally suited for rest and contemplation.

Block off these times in your schedule and avoid making significant decisions or working on important projects during these times. During VOC* Moon, focus on routine tasks. You will be surprised at how this one change will smooth the edges of your life!

Do you have questions about what is appropriate to do or not do during the VOC* moon? A simple way to think about it is to ask a simple question: Do I hope that this activity will amount to something? If the activity does not need to amount to anything go ahead with it! If you have an expectation or desire that this action is going to amount to something, do not do it while the moon is VOC*. Think about the time you bought a book you were certain you were going to love and you never could finish it! Think about the time you bought the perfect article of clothing that you ended up never wearing; that is the moon VOC*!

Monday, February 2, the Moon begins the week VOC* in Cancer until 12:41 PM EST when she enters Leo.

Wednesday, February 4, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Leo) following a conjunction to Jupiter at 12:31AM EST and ending Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 12:46 AM EST when the Moon enters Virgo.

Friday, February 6, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Virgo) following an opposition to Mars at 5:09 PM EST and lasting until Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1:44 PM EST when the Moon enters Libra.

* In these weekly reports, I am exploring the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and are often fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to it’s VOC* time, as that aspect holds it’s influence throughout the VOC*.

The Aspects I consider: Conjunctions, Sextiles, Squares, Trines, and Oppositions.
The Planets I am working with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

This week we release an old dream in order to allow focus and passion to infuse the new dream to carry us forward.

We are moving directly into the daily posts this week, no time to dawdle!

Monday, January 26, 2015:
It may feel like everyone and everything is in a hurry on Monday morning! We begin the week with the Moon simmering in the aggressive heat of Aries. Don’t be surprised to notice yourself and others expressing more determination and assertiveness than usual.

At 9:23 AM EST, the Moon has a short VOC* period until she enters Taurus at 11:37AM EST. At this point, our emotions stabilize and we can settle into a more restful day.

Shortly before midnight, we reach the First Quarter Moon. Consider the New Moon in Aquarius last Tuesday, January 20th. What was the intellectual consideration that began at that time? The First Quarter Moon always asks us to consider what action we can take to propel forward that which began at the New Moon.

Monday will be the day to consider and determine what action to take but don’t worry about taking that action until Tuesday. Do not spend a lot of time worrying about what action to take. Simply make the determination and prepare to take the action. It does not need to be anything big or dramatic. Sometimes the smallest actions result in the most amazing impacts.

Tuesday, January 27, 2015:
The big news on Tuesday rests with Venus. Following her time in Aquarius (since January 3rd), Venus takes her first steps into Pisces; joining Neptune, Mars, and Chiron.

As Mars and now Venus leave Aquarius behind, they gain perspective on the Aquarius Sun and begin bringing a bit of mystical sensitivity to the wild ideas that Mercury and the Sun are still conjuring up in Aquarius.
Shortly after midnight (technically Wednesday), Mercury sextile Uranus; this energy will be clearly felt on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pay attention to your mind, your communications, and your wild thoughts. Anticipate innovative or exciting ideas or plans from the past to reemerge. Some of our best ideas fade into the past and with Mercury retrograde pay attention to what reemerges this week. Upsetting or exciting secrets may be revealed.

Following a square to Jupiter at 9:18 PM EST, the Taurus Moon is VOC* until Wednesday evening.

It may prove difficult to sleep on Tuesday night with the mind essentially plugged into the light socket of Uranus. Allow your mind to open into its most creative spaces.

Wednesday, January 28, 2015:
Long before we awake on Wednesday morning, Mercury is sextile Uranus encouraging innovation, thinking outside the box, and speaking the truth regardless of the consequences. Allow space in your life to anticipate flashes of inspiration. Listen when others speak, you may hear something that surprises you or opens your mind to a new way of viewing the world.

Keep that excitement in check, we do have a VOC* Moon to contend with through the entire day! When the Moon finally enters Gemini at 5:36 PM, look for a welcome burst of energy. If there is work to be done, you will likely accomplish more if you simply rest throughout the day and work in the evening than if you spend the whole day working.

“Healthy curiosity is a great key in innovation” ~ Ifeanvi Enoch Onuoha

Work on the development of curiosity within your open mind. Respect and encourage the curiosity of others.
These long spells of VOC* Moon occur when the planets are in the early degrees of their signs. Remember the Moon is considered VOC* following her final (major) aspect in a sign, until she enters the next sign.

Thursday, January 29, 2015:

Thursday brings us a simple but very busy day with the Moon highly active in Gemini. This is a day to work on writing, project development, and/or communications.

Remember that Mercury is retrograde. I hope you are working with ongoing projects and not developing anything new. Speaking of Mercury retrograde; how is it going for you this time around? I have had my usual scheduling snafus, which usually involve forgetting to account for different time zones when I schedule with folks! Several of you know exactly what I am talking about! Other than that I am getting a lot accomplished on some projects that had been set aside and have now been revitalized. I hope you are experiencing the same success!

I would love to hear from you! Please share your Mercury retrograde experiences with us!

Thursday should be a very social day. However, you will have to make the effort. Get together with friends for simple uncomplicated social time. Hang out over coffee or dinner. Catch up with old friends. Keep conversations light, gather information, enjoy easy banter.

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” ~ A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

Friday, January 30, 2015:
Anticipate Friday being a very interesting day. There is significant activity and yet the Gemini Moon will be VOC* for the entire day; following a sextile to Jupiter at 4:24 AM EST. Allow the energy of this day to pass easily through you with full acceptance.

Two significant aspects on Friday will bring our attention back to the middle of November 2014. At that time, several cycles began that need attention now. How far has your life progressed since that time?

There are some determinations to be made with Venus Square Saturn at 3:22 AM EST. Venus represents our deepest personal values and generally shows up in our lives as love, resources (money), or both.

Consider the seriousness with which you began a new attitude toward a lover, a close relationship, or your financial situation in mid November. On Friday, it is important to carefully consider how that situation has developed over the past 2+ months. Are you firmly on the path you began in November? Is there something that you need to do to get back on track to your original intention in this regard? Are you doing what you said you would do? Do you need to renegotiate?

Also, Mars sextile Pluto 8:39 AM EST; this also brings our attention to November. Here we think of passionate action. The passion involved may be sexual passion or deeply passionate anger or aggression. Either way, we are now brought to a place where we clearly see the transformative power of our passion. This is a time to observe and consider where we want this passion to lead our lives. Does it have the power to burn us up or the power to lift us above where we ever imagined ourselves to be? Explore these ideas and set yourself on the path to your ideal future.

The Sun conjunct Mercury (retrograde) at 8:45 AM EST allows our attention to magnify our thoughts. If you have planets in orb of 10 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) this is where your attention will be focused for warmth and healing of past issues.

Saturday January 31, 2015:
Saturday morning you may want to stay close to home and family. Go ahead, build a fire in the fireplace and make a pot of soup (or whatever is your comfort food). Now, invite your dearest loved ones to join you as you reminisce, pore over old photo albums, and talk about the past.

Saturday should present us a quiet day with the Moon in Cancer forming trine aspects to both Venus and Neptune in Pisces. We may not have the tightest hold on reality as we delude ourselves with an idealized view of the past and present. This should not be problematic. Enjoy the fantasy; keep in the back of your mind that there is a layer of reality that you may not be seeing. Understand that it is appropriate now for you to feel the layer of love and warmth within that fantasy in order to bring your desires into future reality.

Bring deep compassion and kindness to all whom you encounter over the course of the weekend. We are about to plant the seed to a new dream; for now there is still a bit to release before committing to the planting of the new dream.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Sunday February 1, 2015:
Sunday is very much a continuation of the energies that were with us on Saturday. The Moon continues through Cancer. We long to remain closely connected to our family and love ones; to share meals and explore stories from the past together.

At 12:35 PM EST, Venus conjunct Neptune at 6° Pisces. This brings us to the completion of a dream that began in April 2014. That dream involved your love relationships, your money, or something of high value to you, personally.
Now we actively participate in the birth of a new dream. Take time to identify and plant the seed for the new dream that you know is stirring in your heart.

I encourage you to write this dream down, and perhaps explore it fully on paper. Share it with us, as well. Writing down our aspirations and our deepest dreams brings them one step closer to reality. Enrolling others to encourage and support us as we move toward our dream is a powerful act that will go a long way to bring our dream to reality! By mid -October 2015, we will see what we have created from the seed we plant now.

Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: January 19, 2015 through January 25, 2015

This is indeed yet another week of powerfully shifting energies!

The week begins with the seriousness of the Moon in Capricorn again reminding us of the excitement and transformation that is still working its way through our lives and our world, courtesy of Uranus and Pluto.

This week we have several very long periods with the Moon VOC*, giving us a chance to rest and recuperate.

The cycle between Venus and Jupiter culminates with an opposition, which speaks of the expanding nature of love and resources. Look back to mid-August 2014, consider the love or resources expanding at that time. Now we clearly see where that expansion has taken us. Did we expand something worthwhile? How big is that love now… or do you see now that it was a mistake? Clarity should be obvious.

The cycle between Mars and Neptune comes to a close. This begins a new cycle of bringing energy to our spiritual life, bringing confusion or fantasy to our sexuality, or other physical manifestations of our most assertive energies.

Young Girl on the Shore by Edvard Munch

Young Girl on the Shore by Edvard Munch

The Sun leaves hard-working Capricorn behind to enter the sign of off-beat high intellect that is Aquarius. The New Moon occurs almost immediately following the Sun and Moon’s entrance into Aquarius. As we begin the new lunar cycle, it is important to focus on what we want to develop that is intellectually unusual and of benefit to all of humankind.

On Wednesday, Mercury goes retrograde! Please don’t get nervous about this. A bit of preparation goes a long way. You can simply make a list of what’s been left undone over the last several months and keep your focus on that during this three-week period of time. This is a very productive time if you use your energy to tie up loose ends and complete projects that have already begun.

As we move into the second half of the week, things lighten up. We have a lovely opportunity for stabilization early Friday morning. The weekend provides us with plenty of energy as the Moon travels through Aries bringing lots of activity and motion forward.

We have cycles culminating, cycles ending, cycles beginning, the Sun leaving Capricorn behind to enter Aquarius, and Mercury turning retrograde! This is a big week!

Monday, January 19, 2015:

The week starts with significant activity. On Monday, the Moon is in Capricorn making contact with Pluto and Uranus before 6:00 AM! From 5:51 AM EST until Tuesday morning, the Moon is VOC*. This is a very long period of time to have the Moon VOC*. If you could take the full day off from work and simply do routine activities and rest that would be the best way to utilize this day.

This is a very significant day. At 8:43 AM EST, Venus opposes Jupiter. This aspect suggests the ability to see fully how our values, our current love relationship, or our finances are expanding our world. This cycle began in mid-August 2014. Consider what began to expand in your life. Was it love, was it a change in personal values, or did it involve your finances and resources? Now with the opposition between Venus and Jupiter, you can look clearly back at the beginning of the cycle to understand where it has taken you. What adjustments need to be made as you move forward?

At 7:08 PM EST, we begin a new cycle between Mars and Neptune. The last cycle between them began in February 2013. This would suggest something unclear regarding physical expression of assertive energy, the impact of fantasy on physical desire, or bringing spirituality to sexuality. The full illumination of that cycle came in October 2013. Can you see the pattern? Can you see something mysterious, passive, or unclear regarding assertiveness that began in February 2013? The full illumination occurred in October 2013. Now we begin again.

When Mars and Neptune come together there can be a deeply charismatic energy. People who have these two planets connected in their natal charts are often very charismatic on a physical or sexual level; they are often very attractive. This combination can also suggest a high level of fantasy regarding sexuality. Consider what began in February 2013 regarding these issues. Now we let go of what we began at that time, and start a new cycle. Could your sexual relationship(s) be improved through the addition of fantasy and play? This could be a great time to begin a new playful direction in your love relationships.

17th-Century Engraving of the Constellation of Aquarius

17th-Century Engraving of the Constellation of Aquarius

At 4:42 AM EST, the Sun enters Aquarius! This past month the Sun has been shining its light through the sign of Capricorn. Perhaps we have worked hard, our ambition has been high, now it is time to move outside the box! The energy of Aquarius is emotionally detached and highly intellectual. Aquarius does not suggest the simple intelligence of knowledge but a form of genius that is able to open the mind to what has not been seen before. While the Sun moves through Aquarius we have access to a greatly expanded world-view. Our opinions and thoughts can go to places that may surprise us or those who think they know us. We are able to see the bigger picture of humanity. Our attention is less focused on the self and more focused on the collective.

Tuesday also brings us the New Moon at 0° Aquarius. This begins the lunar cycle that will come to full fruition at the Full Moon on February 3, 2015.

Begin an inspired project that somehow breaks with tradition, or moves you beyond a relationship that is too controlling. If you are seeking more independence, take a serious step forward today. This is a time for beginnings; plant a seed that will unfold and bring forth the quirkiest, most interesting side of your individuality. This New Moon encourages us to chart new territory; pursue innovative and experimental ideas and directions. Plant seeds to bring you to a new place of excitement that will display your most unique self.

Wednesday, January 21, 2015:

On Wednesday, Mercury turns retrograde. I am delighted to see that the entire culture is finally beginning to embrace a more positive view of Mercury retrograde. I distinctly remember when I first became aware of Mercury retrograde and it’s reflection in our human lives. It was always presented in such a negative light. We cannot totally whitewash it, however, as Mercury retrograde does have a difficult side. Communications seem problematic, relationships feel strained, and everything we touch seems to break down.

The Love Letter by Joseph Frederic Charles Soulacroix

The Love Letter by Joseph Frederic Charles Soulacroix

After many years of working carefully with Mercury retrograde and speaking to many clients about their experiences, it has become clear to me that Mercury retrograde is truly a powerful time. If we learn to work with this energy, it can benefit us greatly.

The best thing to do is prepare ahead of time. Although, you can still use Mercury retrograde to your advantage even if you haven’t prepared. Schedule time on Wednesday (or sooner if you read this beforehand) to prepare for the coming three weeks. Make a list of all the projects that you have started, communications that have begun but not been completed, and emails and phone calls that have slipped through the cracks since Mercury’s last retrograde period in October of 2014.

Once you have completed this list, you can confidently accomplish a great deal over the coming three weeks. Focus on your list. Do not start anything new. Focus on the completion of what has begun before. You can safely expect people, situations, and communications from the past to reappear to be dealt with once again. Making excellent use of Mercury retrograde is a very powerful change that you can bring to your life with even a small amount of understanding astrology.

Thursday, January 22, 2015:

The Moon enters Pisces at 7:48 AM EST bringing with it a need to let go of some structure and allow for a bit of dreaminess. Focus may not be easy to maintain but this can be a productive day nonetheless. Allow yourself to move steadily forward and you may be surprised what gets accomplished. Honoring the energy of Pisces periodically throughout the day will help you maintain focus. Take time for meditation, sit quietly listening to music, read, or write poetry.

There is a Sextile between the Sun and Saturn that forms just after midnight Thursday night. It will surely impact both Thursday and Friday. We will talk more about it in Friday’s post.

We are deeply aware of the path that we committed ourselves to in November. What commitment did you make in mid-November? The Sun has pulled far enough away from Saturn so we can see what a long journey we have begun. We now have the opportunity to deeply explore and investigate the way forward. This is an opportunity to deeply stabilize the serious commitment we have made to this path.

Friday, January 23, 2015:

Friday presents us with the opportunity of deep emotional healing. The Moon Sextiles Pluto as her final aspect in Pisces at 6:13 AM EST. The remainder of the day is spent with the moon VOC*. If it is at all possible this is an excellent day to go inward, allow yourself to freely dream, follow your heart to explore its deepest quiet desires.

Thursday’s post talked a bit about the Sextile between the Sun and Saturn. That aspect impacts today as well. Think back to the time right around November 18, 2014. At that time there was something of a serious nature that was very highly activated in your awareness. Consider what that was; what began in mid to late November? Whatever it was, it has taken you a step in the direction of maturity, responsibility, and integrity. Now, approximately 2 months later, the Sun has moved far enough from Saturn to have some perspective on the path we now find ourselves upon. We begin to get perspective regarding the reality of what we have taken on and where we are going. This is a step of curiosity and exploration along this path. We see the potential and we know the risks. The only thing that is set in stone is that we are on this path; how we follow it, what the detours are along the way, and how long it takes us to get where we are going is being negotiated now. Anticipate the pleasure of this process.

Figure in the forest by Catherine McBride

Figure in the forest by Catherine McBride

After Friday’s very long VOC* Moon, we are relieved when she enters Aries at 8:31 AM EST, this is a day to get a great deal done on your own. If you attempt to work with others on Saturday, you may find yourself cranky and irritable. Spend the day alone, enjoy your own company, and utilize your physical energy. If you notice others being impatient, cranky, or aggressive; do not engage! Everyone needs alone time.

On Saturday, many of us are going to simply want our own way; we do not want to compromise; we do not want to share. That is fine. Take the time to cater to your own needs on Saturday. If you’re not able to do this, it will be a practice in patience and kindness. Saturday would be the perfect day for solitary physical activities such as skiing, snowboarding, or running; really any kind of physical activity where you only have yourself, your own body, and your own energy to account for.

Sunday January 25, 2015:

Sunday is likely to have the same kind of strong independent energy as Saturday. The Moon continues through Aries throughout the day. Early in the morning (EST) , the Moon makes contact with both Uranus and Pluto encouraging us to look at what is behind any irritability we may have. Why are we struggling against the transformation and change required in our lives? Do not try to please others or make social situations work on Sunday. Again, allow yourself time alone to physically express yourself. Individual physical activities are once again highlighted. By evening, you may be a more able to connect with others. Keep kindness as your focus and allow yourself to look directly at the areas of transformation in your life. What is the cost of this transformation? Now look at all the ways that it is worth the hard work to get there.

This week: The VOC* Moon!

*VOC (void of course) refers to the period of time between the final aspect that the Moon makes while in one sign until she enters the next sign.

A simple way to think about it is to ask a simple question. Do I hope that this activity will amount to something? If the activity does not need to amount to anything go ahead with it! If you have an expectation or desire that this action is going to amount to something, do not do it while the moon is VOC*. Think about the time you bought a book you were certain you were going to love and you never could finish it! Think about the time you bought the perfect article of clothing that you ended up never wearing; that is the moon VOC!

Monday, January 19, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Capricorn) following a conjunction to Pluto at 5:51 AM EST and ending Tuesday morning at 8:00 AM EST when the Moon enters Aquarius.

Wednesday, January 21, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Aquarius) following a conjunction to Venus at 8:44 PM EST and ending Thursday morning at 7:48 AM EST when the Moon enters Pisces.

Friday, January 23, 2015 the Moon is VOC* (in Pisces) following a Sextile to Pluto at 6:13 AM EST and lasting until Saturday morning at 8:31 AM EST when the Moon enters Aries.

Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: January 12, 2015 through January 19, 2015

For myself, and I expect most of you, the past week has focused on simply assimilating the intensity of last week’s Cancer Full Moon. That was no ordinary Full Moon; even for Cancer!

With the Sun Conjunct Pluto and the Moon and the Sun Square Uranus; that was clearly no ordinary Full Moon. All of the energy from the past two years of Uranus transiting Square to Pluto was packed into that Full Moon!

When the Full Moon is in Cancer and when the Moon moves through Cancer, we live with increased sensitivity and moodiness. Due to this Full Moon’s connection to the Square between Uranus and Pluto, the energies brought forth were off the chart with intensity and long-term impact.

Illustration of fete of birds from Le Petit Journal. 1913

Illustration of fete of birds from Le Petit Journal.

Some of you finally released something that has been holding you back for a very long time. It could be the ending of a long-term relationship, the release of an addiction, or the release of a particular belief or attachment. No matter how difficult, you now have space in your life for profound growth.

On the other side of that powerful Full Moon and following the assimilation of the past week, we now gather our bearings to move forward.

At the end of last week, Mars, Venus, and Mercury were all traveling through Aquarius. The energy of Aquarius has enabled us some detachment from the emotional turmoil of letting go. There are certainly parts of us that are able to see the future clearly enough to understand the necessity of releasing the past.

On Monday morning, Mars leaves Venus and Mercury behind to enter the deeply intuitive waters of Pisces. As we move into the week, we consider the best way to balance the energies of cool intellectual detachment and deep mystical intuition. Our ideas and our values are wildly original and yet we must fall back upon our intuition to move forward with the proper action.

Both Venus and Mercury form Sextile aspects to Uranus this week, offering us new possibilities and allowing us a glimpse of an exciting and unexpected future that is right around the corner!

Wednesday and Thursday could pose a challenge as we feel restriction upon our freedom and our movement in the very direction we seek.

Keep in mind that ‘no’ only means ‘No, for now’. If something is preventing you from moving forward, let yourself slow down and allow your intuition to show you the proper way to move ahead. Allow intuition and a softer heart to guide the way.

Okay, let’s break it down by the day!

Monday, January 12, 2015:

The week begins with the Moon in Libra making contact with the Square between Uranus and Pluto. An emotional intensity on Monday will connect your thoughts firmly to the gigantic shift that you’re still in the process of undergoing.

Truly, I do hope you understand this will not last forever! I know we have talked about the Square between Uranus and Pluto for so long I’m concerned some of you may be bored with the whole business. However, there are only a few more months until it begins to (finally) drift away. The energy between these planets reflects the revolutionary transformation of our lives that is continuing to build until it’s final culmination in March.

Monday morning Mars leaves Aquarius behind to enter Pisces. Mars is not delighted to be in Pisces. Mars wants to be in Fire signs, or perhaps in an Air Sign, but he certainly does not want to be in the intuitive, emotional sign of Pisces. During the time that Mars travels through Pisces, let’s pay careful attention to any passive aggressive tendencies we may have. We are also likely to see those tendencies in others. When you encounter passive aggressive behavior in yourself or others, it is probably best to simply observe and pay attention.

Mars will remain in Pisces until February 19th. During this time, any forward action will be best done from a quiet place of heartfelt intuition. This is a lovely time to start a meditation practice as it will support your ability to understand your true physical, mental, and emotional energies.

Tuesday, January 13, 2015:

Tuesday the Moon begins the day in Libra. While we sleep, she makes her final Square to the Sun at 4:47AM EST. This is the Third Quarter Square of the Moon and is a time of letting go and releasing. It is a time to release what you have been clinging to out of fear. It is time to look forward to what is on the horizon. Following this Square, the Moon is VOC* until she enters Scorpio at 6:44PM EST, another very long VOC* period.

We may feel an emotional deepening, however, at 3:11PM EST Venus Sextile Uranus to help keep those emotions at bay.

Think about this connection for a moment and you may feel the excitement, intensity, and buzzzz! Venus represents our deepest values, our love relationships, and our finances. Uranus loves to shake things up with excitement, anxiety, or simple intensification.

In mid-May 2014, Venus Conjunct Uranus began a powerful cycle of developing an unexpected love, an unusual personal value system/life style, or perhaps even an unconventional way of making money or dealing with finances. The cycle that began in mid-May has been busy revolutionizing your life and your personal values since that time.

As the end of that cycle comes into focus, we are given an opportunity to trust the changes that have occurred and let go of our previous expectation. We must take any opportunity offered to prepare for the new cycle that begins early in March 2015.

Wednesday, January 14, 2015:

Wednesday brings Mercury to the place that Venus was on Tuesday: Sextile Uranus. There is great excitement and possibly anxiety in the middle of this week due to both Venus and Mercury connecting with Uranus.

On Wednesday, we are focused less on our personal values, money, and relationships and more on our thoughts, communications, and ideas. Again, we have the opportunity to say things that may be unexpected and to hear things that may change our lives. If secrets were not exposed at the Full Moon, they have another opportunity to be revealed.

On Tuesday, we looked at the cycle between Venus and Uranus (and the development of an unusual value system), now on Wednesday we are looking at the cycle between Mercury and Uranus. On April 14, 2014 a new cycle between them began, encouraging us to develop a new perception of our world, a new way of thinking, and a new way of communicating. Clearly, these two cycles (Venus and Uranus; Mercury and Uranus) are closely connected. In the Spring of 2014, something in our lives began that opened our minds and our deepest values in an expansive new direction. This week we see how far we have come and take the opportunity to prepare for closure and the new cycle that will begin in the Spring of 2015.

The Moon is in Scorpio throughout the day encouraging us to feel deeply and to explore our dark places that need the healing of the light. Enjoy the process.

Thursday, January 15, 2015:

Get your journals out again as we have another cycle to talk about! Thursday begins with Mars Square Saturn at 1:09AM EST. When you think about the cycle of Mars and Saturn, consider how you structure and stabilize your directed, assertive energy. Mars represents forceful, aggressive action; Saturn represents restriction, structure, stabilization, and hard work.

A new cycle began between Mars and Saturn in late August 2014. At that time, we began working in a new way with our most base physical energies. Mars also represents sexual energy. Consider what began on a physical or sexual level at that time. On Thursday, the Square that is formed between Mars and Saturn is a First Quarter Square. This suggests that we have reached a crisis point in the development of the cycle. Look clearly and determine what action must be taken to bring this cycle forward in terms of maximum fulfillment. Do not be concerned that there is a stress upon your energy; it is necessary and a very important part of the cycle. Determine what action needs to be taken and do not hesitate to take that action now.

The Moon continues through Scorpio on Thursday going VOC* at 6:52PM EST until Friday morning when she will enter Sagittarius to add a little spark to our weekend.  Enjoy a quiet evening of emotional connection to self and others.

Friday, January 16, 2015:

At 3AM EST, the Moon enters Sagittarius! I am always delighted to see a weekend with the Moon in a Fire Sign.

The Moon in Sagittarius encourages us to explore new ways of encountering our world. The early part of the day may feel a bit restrictive and irritable. By the time we reach evening, I suspect we will all be looking forward to a more pleasant time. This should be a fun Friday night.

Do watch your tendency to be overly opinionated. Be open to different ways of seeing the world, celebrate diversity, and learn from those who are very different from your usual cohorts. With that in mind, you can anticipate a lovely weekend.  On the other hand, if you approach others as though their opinions don’t count and that you have the best beliefs and ideas, this could be a very rough weekend.

Take time to listen and make an effort to understand people whose perspective on the world comes from a very different place than your own.

Saturday, January 17, 2015:

The early part of Saturday is great for any activity, work, or tasks that encourage or require open communication, learning, and self growth! Continuing the theme of Friday, this is a great day to explore ideas outside of your normal routine or accustomed ways of participating in the world. People who think differently than you and who see the world from a very different perspective have a great deal to teach you at this time.

At 2:25PM EST following a Trine to Jupiter, the Moon is VOC* until entering Capricorn early Sunday morning.

A great day for fun, learning, and exploration! Get out of the house (no matter how cold it is) go skiing, go hiking, find a party and join in!

Sunday, January 18, 2015:

I hope you made Saturday work in terms of fun and pleasures because Sunday is a very different kind of day. Unless hard work is your preferred activity, this will not be a great a day as Saturday.

Don’t get me wrong, this does not signify a negative day! Sunday actually looks like a fabulous day for accomplishment. Do you have a project you really want to get some major movement on before Mercury turns retrograde next week? This is the day to get work accomplished.

Sunday would be a great day to get a jump on preparing last years taxes! You will be able to accomplish a great deal in terms of planning or deep organization. Think about this day in advance. Make a plan! You will be very glad you did!

Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology Weather: January 5, 2015 through January 11, 2015

Welcome to the first full week of 2015! I have heard so many people express relief that 2014 has passed; with a high expectation of 2015 bringing a vast improvement.

Art Nouveau Janvier

Art Nouveau — Janvier

From an astrological perspective, I think there is something to that expectation!

For the past 2 to 3 years, we have been through some very tough astrological passages. The Square between Uranus and Pluto has been in effect since the summer of 2012; Saturn entered Scorpio in October 2012. Over the course of this time, we have, individually and as a collective, struggled with issues of power and necessary change.

In the past week, Saturn has left the deeply emotional power of Scorpio and entered Sagittarius in search of meaning and growth.

The final Square between Uranus and Pluto is only 2 ½ months in the future! This has been such a long process it has felt like it would never end!

2015 will be a time of assimilating and coming to understand, the changes that we have been through individually and as a collective! This is a time to consider all that has occurred and all the change that you have experienced in your own life.

Let’s talk a bit about Saturn’s entrance into Sagittarius. This is a very significant change. Saturn spends approximately 2 ½ years in each sign, giving us plenty of time to learn the lessons that Saturn (the authoritative teacher) is instructing us on. Saturn’s lessons change as he moves from sign to sign.

Over the course of the last few years, as Saturn moved through Scorpio we have dug deeply into areas of major intensity, power, and control. The teaching we have received from Saturn over this period has been deeply psychological. We have been required to dig deeply into our most private and hidden nature, exploring the intensely penetrating mysteries that are deeply buried within us. Perhaps we’ve struggled with facing our own issues of jealousy, manipulation, and control.

Now and over the course of this year, consider these deeply internal issues, what you have learned over this period of time, and how you are moving forward in your psychological growth. Take the time and attention to really understand what you have mastered with deep understanding.

As Saturn leaves Scorpio behind and moves through Sagittarius, our lessons of maturity take on a very different tone. Over the next 2 ½ years we will seek to understand and learn from more philosophical directions, rather than deeply psychological areas.

We start to understand the necessity to seek deep meaning and philosophical understanding of our world. We certainly won’t all take on a formal study but many of us will return to school or develop a new way of understanding the world. The philosophical underpinning of education, politics, race relations, religion, and travel will all come under the microscope over the coming few years. The necessity of reform is clear and will demand attention at this time.

There is much to be learned as we expand our vision and understanding of humanity from a new perspective. We will all work hard for freedom, wisdom, fairness, and optimistic expansion.

If your Sun or Moon are in one of the four Mutable Signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) the movement of Saturn through Sagittarius will challenge your growth. Prepare for certain structures in your life to require major decisions. You will need to develop a level of maturity that may be unlike what you are accustomed to. The Mutable Signs understand change but with Saturn demanding stabilization you may surprise yourself and others by making powerful commitments and permanent change.

Monday, January 5, 2015:

The week begins with an incredibly long VOC* Moon in Cancer. Even if you do head back to the office on Monday, not a lot of work will get done on this first day back after the long winter holiday.

Winter Moon

Winter Moon by Jill Ferry

This is a day to assimilate the stressors of the holidays; a day to consider what has changed and to contemplate the path ahead. You may be aware of yourself and others feeling very sensitive today; your emotions may be very close to the surface.

At 5:20PM EST, Mercury in Aquarius forms an opening Sextile to Saturn in Sagittarius. How are your thought processes being stabilized? Keep your eyes open to the possibility or opportunity to speak your truth clearly and with a deep level of integrity. Express yourself clearly.

This may be a day to contemplate and consider new ways of thinking and alternative directions of the mind. Perhaps this is simply another opportunity to say what needs to be said, to explore ideas that need to be explored, and to share thoughts that may surprise ourselves and our loved ones.

Don’t take this day too seriously in terms of accomplishment; do take this day seriously in terms of paying attention to opportunities for growth, learning, and understanding.

Tuesday, January 6, 2015:

Expression is the key to making this day a success! At 6:03AM EST, the Moon enters Leo. Saturn brings us a free flow of stability and the need to look clearly at the reality of our circumstances. The Leo Moon also highlights Mercury and Venus who are newly in Aquarius offering us the desire, and ability, to express our innovative, humanitarian, and unconventional thoughts and ideals. We are drawn to people and ideas that show us a new perspective on our lives and our relationships. With Mercury, Venus, and Mars all in Aquarius, there is a suggestion that we can be quite objective in our thinking and our approach. We are able to see our lives and situations with a clarity that only comes through open-minded objectivity and detachment. Enjoy this clarity of mind.

Three Dancers by Louis F. Berneker

Wednesday continues pushing us into a week of pleasure and simplicity. The Moon continues through the playful generous sign of Leo forming a Trine aspect to Uranus early Wednesday morning. This is a lovely aspect for bringing the full expression of our pleasure and excitement into the world. Pay attention to where your heart longs to go.

Over the past few years, our lives have been proceeding forward with major innovations and change. Within this change, we encounter a powerful sense of fear or a powerful sense of excitement. This week encourages us to reach into that space of transformation with open-hearted excitement and joy. Be exactly the person you are meant to be. There’s no need to please anyone. There is a deep need to be who you know yourself to be.

Thursday, January 8, 2015:

The Moon in Leo starts the day dancing with Jupiter! This offers us a lovely morning for creativity and play! Anticipate a great deal of energy and the desire to fully express joy. Remember, however, that the transits of the Moon are quickly fleeting emotions.

At 12:05PM EST, the Leo Moon opposes Mars followed by the VOC* Moon until she enters Virgo at 5:58PM EST. During the afternoon our energies are more interested in expressing impatience or aggression.

On Thursday afternoon please maintain a high awareness of not only what you say, but also your tone of voice and the general impression people will have of you.
It will be easy to be perceived, or to perceive others, as angry or aggressive on Thursday afternoon. Do not assume that others are angry and give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

Following the Moon’s entrance into Virgo, focus your attention on activities that will satisfy Virgos need for meticulous productivity. Keep it simple: do the laundry, clean a cupboard or a closet! What you want to avoid this evening is nitpicking and analyzing whatever aggravation you may have encountered in the afternoon. Regardless of how important it seemed in the moment, don’t hold onto that. Release and put your energies into a detail-oriented project. Keep it simple. If you need to apologize, do so… and release.

Friday, January 9, 2015:

Friday will show up as a highly productive day! I want to give this one a big thumbs up! Plan ahead to do all your detailed and meticulous work on Friday. This would be a great day to work on taxes, bookkeeping, anything that demands close attention to detail. The Moon is in Virgo throughout the day forming a powerful trine aspect Pluto in the evening. Chances are you’re going to be very willing to work a very long day on Friday.

Start the day with clarity of purpose. What do you want to accomplish? The potential may be clearer than you think. A brief meditation in the morning will allow that clarity to show itself. Make a list and get right on it.

Saturday January 10, 2015:

Saturday will bring us another great day to get work done! The only aspect throughout the day is a beautiful free-flowing Trine between the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Capricorn. This is a classic aspect of hard-working accomplishment. The best type of work to bring forth is that of selfless service to others. You are able to see what needs to be done, you are not afraid to do the work, and you don’t need to take credit for it.

This is not a day when any of us will be tooting our own horn or attempting to stand in the limelight. We want simply to do our best to move all of us forward. Seek out a project of selfless service. It can be very simple. Shovel the walkway for a neighbor, carry the groceries for the person you see struggling in the parking lot, or watch the child of a friend who needs time alone. Find a place you can be of service to another. Expect nothing in return.

Following the Trine aspect between the Sun and the Moon at 10:46AM EST the moon is VOC*. Please enjoy this low-key day; it certainly has the potential to provide satisfaction and deep pleasure.

Sunday January 11, 2015:

Sunday brings another day of simplicity and pleasure! At 6:57AM EST, the Moon enters Libra as our thoughts turn from Saturday’s attention on selfless service to Sunday’s focus on romantic, diplomatic, and social relationships.

This is a great day to spend with a lover, close friends, or in pursuit of beauty. This is a wonderful day for artistic endeavors; for creating charm and refinement in your relationships and/ or environments.

Throw together an impromptu party or gathering. Say yes to connections with others. This has the potential to be a great day. Try not to be alone. It is important to have others to interact with today. If you must be alone, make art, listen to music, take a hot bath, and pamper yourself as you would a lover.
